Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2009 - Small Leak EVAP Code P0456
2009 santa fe 67000 miles. Replaced fuel senders approx a month ago. All was fine. On about the 3rd fill up the cel came on. Code was for small leak evap. checked the gas cap, no problems. Replaced the purge valve and disconnected the battery while doing so. Cel light went off and stayed off thru one tank of gas. Filled up again and thought I detected a little fuel smell shortly after and cel came on again. I only smell fuel when its full and down to just before 3/4's. The light came on right before 3/4's. My husband is beyond frustrated and wants to smash the car lol. Once I get him calmed down where should we be looking for a leak and how to fix it? We can't afford a dealership bill right now and of course it's due for inspection next month.
Code was p0456
The only answer I got in the DIY section is to check around the fuel senders again but I'm leery to do it as I can't see how there would be a leak there, the covers go on SO hard even with that tool.
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: P0441 CEL Code - Evap Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow
Just received a P0441 CEL (Evap Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow). I have a 2.7l engine, 2WD. I've read other forums and it seems it's most likely the purge valve or charcoal canister.
View 7 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2009 GLS - Code P2422 / Evap Vent Solenoid Stuck Closed
My 2009 santa fe with the 2.7 has a check engine light. p2422 evap vent solenoid stuck closed. I replaced the charcoal canister and the light came back on. I replace the solenoid by the throttle body and the light came back on but took longer to set. My wife said that she was having problems filling the tank but when I changed the second solenoid the problem was gone but the light had returned.
View 6 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: CEL On With Code P0441 - EVAP Emission System Incorrect Purge Flow
I've had the check engine light come on and was told it was probably from topping up too much and that it would go off on it's own... I should say I have no issues with idle or rough starts.
I had it scanned at Auto Zone. The print out shows: "EVAP emission system incorrect purge flow probable cause
1) Faulty purge control solenoid
2) Faulty vent solenoid
3) Blocked vapor canister
Previous posts suggest if it were a blocked vapor canister I'd have trouble completely filling the tank so I am hoping it's one of the others. Almost everything I see suggests the purge control and that looks like an easy fix. My concerns are a) if it is the vent solenoid - how hard is that to get at and b) what is the part number as I can't find it listed anywhere? I want to have both on hand before I start trying to fix this. Lastly if it is the vent solenoid should I just give up and see a dealer??

View 2 RepliesPassat (B6) :: CEL And Gas Cap Light Both Came On At Once - Evap Leak
I just got a 06 2.0T and my CEL came on about a week after getting it. I was driving home and the CEL and gas cap light both came on at once. I turned the car off and the CEL light stayed on. I just had the code checked and it came back as a Evap leak and misfire in cylinder 1. I was doing a bit of research and it seems like this is a common problem with these cars. As well getting a new gas cap never works. I have read that a smoke test is the only way to figure out where the problems is as well it could be the carbon canister by the gas tank. I know there was a recall for these when the cars first came out. Has there been a fix for this over the years or is it something I am going to have to trouble shoot?

View 9 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Coolant Leak At Hose End
I have noticed my 2007 SF V6's coolant is reducing at reservoir. I added premix coolant about 1 liter a month ago. Today I saw my driveway was wet, and this hose end was leaking.
I turned the spring clamp about 90 degree. but it's still dropping like 1 drop per 1 minute or so. Is this common issue? and how can I fix this?
Should I change the black hose? or change the same new spring clamp or change the spring clamp to a wider screw clamp?
Also, when detach the hose end, some amount of coolant will come out then, just adding premix coolant into reservoir for the max level is good enough? or do I have to bleed radiator airs?
Intrigue :: Code P0442 - Small EVAP Leak
So I have had this code P0442 for a long time and I just kept clearing it. The attached picture (at an angle) shows the hole in the small line attached to the fuel neck filler exactly behind where the plastic wheel well cover touches it. Just ordered a new one from rockauto for about 65 shipped.
View 5 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: EVAP Leak Detection Popping All The Time?
I know the EVAP Leak Detection system is supposed to pop and click on start-up, but from what I've read it goes away after a few minutes (after the system pressurizes?) - however I've been noticing my popping still happening after 10-15 minutes of driving (I believe it sometimes even pops when I shut off the car)... I am not getting any warning lights. Is this normal?

2003 passat GLS stock w/ 1.8T, MIL comes on after full tank drops to about 3/4 full. Code 16826 will clear but keeps coming back, always when the tank is about 3/4. I have replaced gas cap but, no luck. Also, sometimes after filling the tank the light goes off by it's self.
View 2 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: CEL Code For EVAP - Very Small Leak
Got a CEL tonight while driving. Originally I was driving and the light came on saying that my gas cap was loose. I corrected the problem when I got home and tightened again. The light stayed on however. I ran a scan with the OBDII and it gave me a code for EVAP- Very Small Leak .
I was reading around and some people suggested the MAF. Which would make sense because I recently had all of that stuff off and gave the engine a deep cleaning while it was exposed. I just don't see how the MAF could relate to the code my car is pushing?

View 6 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Oil Leak On The Valve Cover Over The Alternator
I have a 2009 Santa Fe Limited with 82000 miles. I have replaced four (4) batteries since it was purchased, new, in March, 2010. I have repeatedly taken it to the Hyundai dealerships in Las Vegas, Nevada and Centennial, Colorado, for an oil leak on the valve cover over the alternator. At no time has the service technicians at the dealerships ever told me there was problem. Last Thursday, the latest new battery, installed that same day, failed. I had my independent garage technician assess the multiple battery failures, with the associated battery display light illumination, related to the location of the continual oil leak. He stated that the cause of the battery failures was from the oil damaging the alternator. I contacted Hyundai Customer Service, today, and was told that there have no reported problems from oil leakage onto the alternator, with subsequent damage to it, and/or the battery.
View 3 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Airbag Light Would Not Go Off And Antifreeze Leak
Bought a new 2012 end of February. With 500 miles on it, my airbag light would not go off. Dealer said something had come unplugged. Ok, things happen. This Saturday, there was green antifreeze on the garage floor. Took to dealer. Said there's a crack in the thermostat housing. Ordered a new one. Came in this morning. Called and said there's a problem with the "elbow" in the housing too. They didn't want to fix just the housing alone, so ordered the "elbow". I know nothing about a thermastat housing. I have 10,000 miles my Santa Fe. The service dept. said the airbag light was a recall. I checked it out and it's for older Santa Fe's, not 2012. Does this sound unusual to you?

Just took in my 2011 Santa Fe Limited for its 22,500 mile service (oil change). I was informed that it had an "oil leak under the front cover," and it needs to be fixed before it ruins the alternator. I will have to drop it off again for a whole day to have it fixed under warranty. The service rep also told me that this was not uncommon.

I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with approximately 105,000 miles. I had my left inner tire rod replaced a couple days ago and today I notice a leak under the vehicle by the boot. There was not a leak previously. I had the tire rod replaced because it was loose and notice by the mechanic who was doing the front wheel alignment. Could the mechanic have damaged something that caused the leak? What could cause this leak? The vehicle seems to be steering just fine.
View 2 RepliesElantra XD (2001-06) :: Code P0455 / Large EVAP Leak
Check light came on and I had the code read at AutoZone. There were 3 codes but I'm pretty sure 2 are old (the check light previously came on a couple of months ago and I had it checked, then went off on its own). My car seems to be driving fine.
The new one is P0455. Large EVAP leak. I'm hoping it is just my gas cap.
The other 2 (older) codes are P0456 (small leak) and P0113 (IAT error).
