Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Major Coolant Leak?

My buddy has a 2000 GLX that's been a great car, but he had an overheat situation where the car lost most all of the coolant almost instantaneously. I went over to his house to check it out, but was limited on time so I couldn't get the belly pan off and the car jacked up to thoroughly diagnose it. We filled it with distilled water and ran it so I could see where it was leaking. Seems to be gushing mostly from the back side of the engine (by the firewall) on the passenger side, but there also seems to be some leaking in the front as well.

What are the major failure points that could cause it to dump it as quickly as it's filled? Does the car have a distribution pipe like a VR that can be a major failure point? My experience is limited with the V6 engine.

Passat (B5) :: 2003 - Major Oil Leak Under Intake Manifold

My friend and I are working on her '03 1.8t and I noticed a huge oil leak under the intake manifold. It looks like there's a tube that has broken off and is now just spewing oil all over the place. I tried to get pics the best I could, so here they are....

I'd imagine its something that needs to be fixed asap.

Passat (B7) :: 2014 - Won't Start - Major Fuel Leak In Engine Compartment

My loaner 2014, 2.5 developed a massive fuel leak when trying to start it yesterday, and it did not start.

I had just done a short 1-mile trip and parked for 2 hrs, came out to start it and it turned over fine with no start, tried it again and smelled raw gas. Thought it flooded so I let it sit for 5 min and tried again, same result. Popped the hood and saw fuel on passenger side frame area and it was dripping a lot when I looked under it.

The car had 5400 miles on it and I had just put 1000 of those on over the week and the car was flawless. Dealer towed it and I am in another loaner while they finish my TDI. I could not see the cause and I wasn't going to trouble shoot as it was a loaner. The 2.5 has been bullet proof overall and this seemed more like a fuel line popped and not an engine issue.

Just wanted to throw an FYI out in case you get a no start and smell gas from an otherwise flawless engine. Nothing dramatic happened in this case as the engine was cold, but if happened while driving it had great potential for fire. Also, would hate to have this happen in my garage in the morning.

If I can get more details from the dealer I will post an update. This would clearly be a recall if they find defective design in failed part. I would not cry wolf on this yet, just a concern...again this car had been on the road for 5 months and 5400 miles.

Passat (B6) :: CEL And Gas Cap Light Both Came On At Once - Evap Leak

I just got a 06 2.0T and my CEL came on about a week after getting it. I was driving home and the CEL and gas cap light both came on at once. I turned the car off and the CEL light stayed on. I just had the code checked and it came back as a Evap leak and misfire in cylinder 1. I was doing a bit of research and it seems like this is a common problem with these cars. As well getting a new gas cap never works. I have read that a smoke test is the only way to figure out where the problems is as well it could be the carbon canister by the gas tank. I know there was a recall for these when the cars first came out. Has there been a fix for this over the years or is it something I am going to have to trouble shoot?

Passat (B5) :: MIL Came On - Code P0455 / EVAP Emission Control System Leak?

New owner of a 2003 1.8TPassat (29,000mi) as of the last 2 weeks and have just had my MIL come on. Scanned it at home with my Actron CP9125 scanner and got this code (P0455) which reads in the scanners manual as "EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large)". Didn't know if this was a generic description of the code or VW has a more specific definition. What precisely this is in reference to, gas cap, vacuum hose????? Or what VW's actual description of this code is?

Passat (B6) :: Evap Small Leak Intermittent Code P0442 Strikes Again

I've gotten the P0442 "small leak - intermittent" code and "service now" warnings on my 2007 2.0T Passat. I have also occasionally gotten the "check gas cap" warning and icon on the dash, but it always goes away quickly. The car runs fine. The VCDS scan shows as follows:

Address 01: Engine Labels: 06F-907-115-AXX.lbl
Part No SW: 3C0 907 115 S HW: 8P0 907 115 B

1 Fault Found:
001090 - EVAP Emission Control Sys
P0442 - 001 - Small Leak - Intermittent

[Code] ....

If I clear this code, it comes back within a day or two of driving, but not immediately. I have already replaced the gas cap and N80 valve. The other component I'm aware of possibly failing is the check valve. It's just downstream of the N80 valve, circled in red here:.

I put a vacuum on this part, and it had a very slow leak, losing about 3psi (starting from 20psi) every minute. That seems too small a leak for this to be a problem? Is this thing supposed to be absolutely air tight? Since this part is more expensive ($80) and bit more hassle to replace than the N80 valve, I'd like to know more about this before I just blindly replace it.

If this check valve isn't the problem, then what to check? Although the car runs fine, I need an inspection and would prefer to not have to clear the codes and hope for the best just before taking it in.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: Major Oil Leak At 9500 Miles?

Started noticing small drops of oil a few weeks ago under the RX. I checked the dipstick and oil level was well within range so I figured something just needed tightening. Went ahead and took it in for it's first oil change last Friday and told them about the leak. Turns out it's leaking from the timing chain cover and will rake 3 to 4 days to repair. Never had something this major on a 9 month old vehicle.

Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Major Water Leak - Carpet Wet / Funky Smell

My car has wet carpet, particularly in the passenger footwell and I have also noticed on the driver's side as well. My car did have a funky smell quite a few weeks ago, but after a couple of weeks of good strong sunlight and heat that smell went away. At the time I thought maybe some water had spilled and it just needed to dry up.

Yesterday we had a bucket full of rain. Quite heavy and strong. I didn't notice anything yesterday when I got to my car as it was still raining. However this morning I found that the smell was back (that wet carpet / mouldy smell) and I had a few minutes before the next train arrived. I checked quickly and found that the passenger side (in Australia it's the left side of the car facing forwards) carpet had a small wet patch.

Anyway got home after work and proceeded to find out what might be causing the problem. I dismantled part of the passenger side and lifted up the carpet and found that all underneath (the padding / noise proofing) was soaked wet.

I removed the plug that normally sits there and the amount of excess water from that plug to the garage floor was more than I was expecting

** Drain Plug **

I asked my wife to point a hose at the sunroof to see if I could spot where the water was coming from. I noticed that just underneath a big electrical bank sitting just above the carpet, water was basically running out of this hole.

** Close up of the hole where water is pretty much running straight through, basically someone turned a tap on and it just leaks straight into the carpet **

As you can see the closeness to the wiring is dangerously close.

I tried to see if the sunroof holes were blocked and they looked okay. I took some whipper snipper string and tried to feed it down the sunroof holes, but alas did not see where this would come out. I tried searching under the car, but couldn't find the spot where the water would normally drain out. The string went in and I fed it through, but eventually I hit a block somewhere but I don't know if this is a problem or just the string couldn't twist to get where it needed to.

I need to find out why there is water spilling into my cabin at the footwell. This has started to ruin my carpet and getting into the car with that smell surely isn't good for my or my family's health. Where this is meant to be draining out underneath the car? How do I fix this leak without spending a fortune?

Dodge - Ram :: 1997 - Major Coolant Leak Coming Right From The Middle Of Front Of Engine

I've got a 1997 Dogde Ram 1500 Pickup. It's got a major coolant leak that seems to be coming right from the middle of the front of the engine. I can't see where it's coming from. I changed the thermostat and the water pump, but it seems to be even behind that. There is a rubber hose that comes off the water pump and disappears between the two banks. I can only see a tiny end of it, where it goes. It looks like getting to that would involve taking off the whole intake manifold. If that's the case, I might as well total the truck. I dunno...

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 - Major Oil Leak Accumulating On Top Of Housing

I bought a 2003 F350 with the 6.0L. It had injection, EGR, and oil cooler issues. I tore into it, did the injectors, EGR delete, new oil cooler, turbo seal kit, and several other non related things. Put everything back together and when I started it, it was leaking oil at the paste of 1/2 qt and minute. I did all sorts of searching on this site and went back to work on it.

I re-installed all new gaskets and O-rings, replaced the ICP and IPR sensors. Started it back up, exact same thing. From what I can see, oil is accumulating on top of the oil cooler housing around the area the turbo oil supply connects. But, its not leaking from turbo supply, or from where the filter housing attaches. Im at a loss. Its definitely somewhere on top of the engine and running down the back, only when the engine runs.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: CEL Is On For EVAP Leak

The CEL is on for a evap leak. I replaced both packing O-rings for the fuel pump, which I should have done when I replaced the fuel level senders. I have driven the car for a week with no resolution. I did try a new gas cap before I replaced the O-rings, but it didn't resolve the problem. I realize that I may have more than 1 issue, so I'll put the new gas cap on shortly. Just wondering if there's anything else I should check before I put the seats back. Are there any other common areas to fail that I need to check?

I am not getting any warning lights. Is this normal?
