I own a 2003 Accent (LC) ... After verifying my AC evaporator unit is leaking, I had replaced it with a new one.
Since the AC guy took the old evaporator off the vehicle, I didn't noticed the original location of the thermistor sensor.
I have a new evaporator which I put back into the vehicle, but I don't know where to locate the thermistor sensor, did not find any clue where to push it into.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Oil Leaking Only When Turn On The Vehicle
My 2004 Santa Fe seems to be leaking oil only when I turn on the vehicle. I don't see any oil under the vehicle, however, I see white smoke coming out mostly from under the vehicle on the passenger side and I can smell the oil inside the cabin. I haven't experienced any power loss. How to better diagnose the problem?

I have a 2003 Santa Fe AWD 140k miles 3.5L engine. I was getting some wierd noise from the rear end and took a look, it appears the driver's side shaft going into the differential is leaking fluid. Should I replace the whole assembly? What kind of price are we talking, and does it all pull out, once you take the disc brake and spindle off?

View 6 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: AC Compressor Replacement - Shaft Seal Is Leaking
After 9 solid years of service, my a/c compressor finally failed. According to the shop, its leaking at the center seam of the compressor. If the system is charged, then the compressor will operate until the low pressure switch shuts it down. My question is this: Can this compressor be rebuilt? If so, where can I get the parts (I'm assuming the shaft seal is leaking).
Also, a quick search on eBay provides several compressors that fit my car; however, some of them are listed as HS-17 compressors and others are HS-18. My car (according to the A/C sticker on the hood) says I have an HS-18 compressor. Are these two interchangeable? I'm asking because if the current compressor can't be rebuilt, then I will have to buy either a reman. or new unit.

View 2 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Leaking Lower Timing Chain Cover On 2.7 V6
My daughter just bought a 2002 Santa Fe LX which is drooling oil all over the alternator and everything else in that area. I found what (I think) is the source (but you have to be a contortionist to see it.) I haven't been able to find any good parts identification photos of that area, but I think that this is the bottom corner of the lower timing belt cover.
I guess the repair will require going through the first several steps used when replacing a timing belt. I don't plan on going any further than needed to fix this leak, though, since the timing belt was reportedly changed about 25K miles ago.
Before I start taking all this apart, I have a couple questions:
1. What might be holding this corner out, away from the block?
2. Is the timing belt cover supposed to snap into place over a lip on the block? Or, should it be sealed with gasket sealer -- or something similar?
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Fuel Leaking From The Driver Side Of Tank
Not my Elantra, but an '05 Santa Fe 2.7 ... I have a fuel leak from the driver's side of the tank. It has continued leaking while the vehicle has been parked with about a quarter tank of gas, even after 8 hours. I can see where it is leaking from - a quarter size depression in the tank - but I think this is some sort of plastic pan, not the tank itself.
Is there is a plastic pan under the tank?
If so, does it cover just the bottom half?
If it is a plastic pan, is the tank itself plastic or metal?
If it is plastic I don't see how it could develop a leak, so is it possible for the leak to be at the top of the tank due to a fuel line problem (maybe some mysterious syphon condition)?
I searched the forum and leaking fuel tanks don't seem to be a common problem. My usual parts store doesn't even have a listing for a replacement fuel tank.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Leaking Antifreeze - Hole On Cylinder 5 Side Of The Block
We now have a new problem. Motor is leaking antifreeze out of what i will call a weeping hole in the on the #5 cylinder side of the block. The hole, which is manufactured in the block. Is where the antifreeze is seeping from. The hole is located above the bottom bolt an just below the top bolt for the transmission. the hole is on the block. I think that there might be a freeze out plug on the back of the motor block where the leak is coming from. The block was not leaking before we removed the heads for valve job.
View 3 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Heater Core Leaking Coolant And It Dripped All The Way Down To Original ECU
The problem started when his heater core was leaking coolant and it dripped all the way down to his original ECU. Car stopped working. Then he went to a Hyundai dealer to fix the problem but they said he had to buy a brand new one. First ECU didn't work. Returned it and bought one more expensive. Dad told me it worked but he didn't by pass the heater core so coolant dripped again. So now I'm on my third ECU but it doesn't work. I've read online that some older cars have plug-and-play type of ECUs that aren't restricted to the VINs. His car is a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS FWD 4dr 3.5L.
View 5 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Transparent Orange Fluid Leaking Down Onto Exhaust System
So after struggling with a coil spring issue, I finally got my car all fixed up. To test out the new shocks, I drove it around the block. All of my hard work and dedication was rewarded with a stinky and smoking engine compartment.
Upon inspection, I determined that there was a transparent orange fluid leaking down onto the exhaust system. My first thought was coolant, but I checked the coolant tank and the fluid is green. I suppose it could be oil, but it has a low viscosity. There is enough fluid leaking to cause a small puddle under the engine after it's warmed up and I can see a trail of fluid coming up the driveway.
With the use of a mirror, I could trace the fluid up to the exhaust manifold on the rear of the engine. Obviously the manifold does not contain fluids, so I assumed it must be coming from the intake manifold or a cracked hose and dripping onto the exhaust. I didn't see any cracked hoses.
Is there anything else it could be besides the intake manifold? I'm hoping it's just the gasket...but I don't understand why the gasket would suddenly fail.
Here's a pic looking down onto the intake manifold bolts and the exhaust manifold...
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Noise While Turning Sharp In Both Directions - Tranny Fluid Leaking
Noise started a day earlier, drove slow and listened to the noise while turning sharp in both directions. Was noisy at full turns and mostly quiet going straight. At higher speeds a slight wine could be heard.
It was a clunking, grinding noise with a little steering bind and pulling. I assumed it was cv joints but but after jacking up the front end to inspect, I have tranny fluid leaking from between transfer case and tranny.
Last thing I expected was tranny, It shifts fine and just started leaking, NOW what am I facing.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: ABS Control Module Was Leaking / Brakes Felt Spongy When Applied
I drive a 2002 Santa Fe with 121k miles. Last week the red brake light came on in the dash that usually indicates the parking brake is activated, though it was not. Checked fluids, brakes worked fine, so I took it to the dealership to have it looked at.
They claimed "the ABS control module was leaking" and needed to be replaced in it's entirety...almost $2000, and they said that is the reason my brakes felt spongy when applied. I agreed they did. I decided to decline letting them fix it since my brakes had worked fine beforehand.
Upon picking up the car I notice the red indicator light is still on, and now the brakes need to be applied all the way to the floor to have any stopping power at all. It seemed to get worse after 2 days, I checked the brake fluid and it was empty! So I replaced the fluid, yet the brakes still function VERY poorly.
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Steering Fluid Boiling / Foaming Leaking Out At Reservoir Cap
2.7 Power Steering Fluid boiling/foaming leaking out a reservoir cap!
1) Recently had Timing Belt/Water Pump and spark plugs/wires replaced.
2) Issue started immediately after.
3) Removed most of old PS fluid, cleaned out reservoir w/brake cleaner. NOTE: nothing appeared to be clogging reservoir. Refilled with new PS fluid. Repeated these steps a second time. This appeared to immediately resolve the issues for several weeks.
4) Now the power steering is getting rough and noisy again. Also, the PS reservoir is leaking out of the cap worse than before. It looks like the fluid may be "boiling", but it is definitely foaming up pretty badly.
What my issue(s) may be?
Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2001 V6 - Checking AC Evaporator Core For Leaks
Is there anyway to check the ac evaporator core for leaks without removing the dash and the evaporator core box and opening the ac system? I've got a UV light and the dye is already in. My sense tells me there's no easy way out of this, but maybe one of you has figured out a work around. The vehicle is a 2001 V6 Escape.

View 6 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Steering Pump Is Leaking Fluid Onto Serpentine And Timing Belts Causing Them To Swell
So I have multiple issues that all seem to stem from a power steering leak. According to the dealership, the PS pump is leaking fluid onto the serpentine and timing belts causing them to swell. This in turn has something to do with the AC compressor not working but they wouldn't give me details. When I looked at the clutch wheels on the AC compressor, there seems to be a good amount of rust in between the two wheels. I can't say that I trust the dealership because the original owner was bought out by a larger group that is known to just say "replace everything". I usually do most of my own work on my 95 Tacoma, so I'm no stranger to import v6 motors.
