Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Gas Gauge Always Reads Empty And The Light Is On
I've been fighting this for weeks with no success. Gas gauge always reads empty and the light is on. I checked the resistance of both sending units sitting in the tank 28 ohms on the right and 50 ohms on left. That should be within spec right? And when I pulled them out the ohms change at a steady rate with the arm down to 4 or 5 ohms.
I've checked all the fuse, all good. And I do have a for fuel level sensor A. Is there supply voltage checks I can do, or ground something to try to get some reading?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2002 - Airbag Light Blinking - Code Reads 27
Looking to see how to repair my blinking light. Code reads a 27, most what I've read says it's a PAD light, which this truck does not have. It has been in an accident, both airbags deployed. Since then both seat belts & bags have been replaced, nothing else.
View 7 RepliesCamry :: V6 2002 Throwing Code P1130 And P1135 - A/F Sensor?
So my 02 Camry V6 has the check engine light on. I had them scan at AutoZone. the codes that came up were P1130 and P1135. After reading some threads here, seems like it's the A/F sensor?
Just to confirm, there are two A/F sensors in the V6 model? I can see the front one easily but not the rear one. Need to identify which sensor needs replacement?
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2002 - Code P0715 / Car Won't Shift Properly
My brother and father just finished with all of the small issues after throwing in both a "new" engine into the vehicle and a transmission..both have around 80K miles (chassis has around 180K). There were some issues with codes after both were installed, but then everything was diagnosed and fixed, vehicles codes were gone and vehicle was able to be registered, afterall.
Anyways, now the car threw a P0715 code and has issues with shifting. It appears that the Santa Fe is stuck in a single gear (appears to be a higher gear). The car won't shift properly, especially noticed at higher speeds in a main road. Using tiptronic does not seem to make a difference. After the car sits and is taken around the neighborhood, it seems to drive fine, until it is taken out into a main road...I'm guessing once it heats up?
So, what should be looked into? A sensor? Is it maybe because this "new" used trans was swapped in and all of the trans fluid was replaced with new fluid? What could the issue be? I guesss the car's been a headache but they're trying to get it finished to avoid any further codes/issues.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2002 Shutdown When Driving - Code P0340
So my wife was driving our 2002 santa fe 2.7L and it shutdown. I went with the scanner and saw one code, P0340. I towed it home, changed the Crank Position sensor, which really sucked. I put it all back together and still no start. Same code.
View 15 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: 2002 - Code P0302 / Misfire On Cylinder 2
I have a 2002 Santa Fe 4 cyl that is giving me a problem that I could use some advice on tracking down & fixing . First & most important is a code P0302 # 2 Cyl misfire. How to check the ignition coil pack , injector ,& wire for this cylinder in home garage with normal tools & meter . Is there a you tube displaying how to do this step by step ?
The other problem which I don't have the code for at this time is that some part of the exhaust is not getting warm enough & this also put's the check engine light on . Will get back on this one when I solve the main problem Misfire.
Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Check Engine Light Will Pop On Occasionally And Code Reads Random Misfire
2004 Elantra AT ... 6 months ago top of the radiator cracked caused it to overheat and blow the head gasket and warp the head. Repaired that and compression is fine now. It ran great for 4 months but now it randomly stalls. at or near idle. Seems to do it more at operating temp rather then cold. Occasionally the check engine light will pop on and the code reads (random misfire). It acts just like it has been shut off. But immediately restarts.
View 3 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: 2007 3.3L V6 With Intermittent Code P0018
2007 with 3.3L at 30k miles (bought new and with regular oil changes) starting throwing p0018's intermittently. No noticeable difference in way the car drives: idle seems fairly normal (only once recently felt the idle briefly stumble at a red light), fuel consumption regular, no power problems. There has been a engine tapping sound at low speeds only heard until the engine warms up after a couple of miles (I'm in Florida, temp is regular in the 70-80's), and the sound is not evident during the start-up, only while accelerating slowly.
On occasion, with hard acceleration, the "ESC 0ff" light comes on, not affected by the ESC off switch, and stays off after one key turn.
Brought to Hyundai dealer who, same day, requested doing an oil/filter change (Firestone had done a change 900 miles/3 months prior) claiming that a wrong oil filter could cause blocked oil galleys. They did the change (and also, no charge, repaired a valve cover leak) and 6 days later called to tell me the car was fine. No mention of the car having been low on oil or evidence of sludging. Also, no mention of whether or not the filter that was replaced was the incorrect filter for the vehicle. (I called Firestone and they claim they regular work with Hyundai to ensure proper filters are used). No mention of why they kept the car for an additional 5 days after the oil change before calling either (except for repairing the valve cover leak with a rocker cover gasket), and although their invoice indicated that they drove the car 5 miles, it was evident from the invoice that the mile in/miles out were the same. I did notice that there was about 2-3 gallons of fuel consumption though when I picked the car up.
6 miles from the dealer after pickup (2 key turns) CEL returns, with same code. I have now driven the car about 100 miles in the last 20 days with the CEl going off and on 4 times now, and each time the same code. I have never had the CEL come on (or go off) while driving, only at start-up. (Longest trip has been 10 miles, top speed 50mph, so a lot of key turns). The longest the CEL has stayed off was for a 30 mile span. The tapping sound mentioned above continues too.
I'm hesitating returning to the dealer. The 10 yr warranty might be a problem for a variety of reasons, and I realise finding the fix for this code could get expensive. But I do want to know what the dealer found out doing their GDS (and via eyes on inspection) and nothing was mentioned on the invoice besides the gasket leak. I'm especially concerned about the timing chain and tensioner.
Is it acceptable to make an appointment with the service manager to find out what they ruled out (and then take that information to a regular mechanic)? Given the problem is regularly intermittent over the last 100 miles, is it still possible that something might be seriously wrong with the engine and damage might be done to the engine by driving it? When I first brought the car to the dealer, they said they couldn't do anything with it because the CEL had gone out. Fortunately, within a mile from the dealer the CEL returned and they took it in. Presently, the light is out again.
Golf IV R32 :: Engine Coolant - High Input Code P0018
My cel is once again starring me in the face ... P0018 is the code I got followed by "engine coolant - high input". Where I can buy a book/chart that explains these codes. I'm assuming it is some sort of sensor gone bad but not sure exactly.
View 1 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Gas Gauge Reads Empty After 40 Liters (11 Gallons)
When the gas gauge of my recently purchased 2007 Santa Fe GLS 2.7 automatic is on E it will only take approx. 40 liters (11 gallons) at the pump. Manual says it's a 75 litre (19.8) gallon tank. Called dealership and service advisor said "they are all like that, you can go quite some distance on E". I think he's full of something that creates gas and there's a problem with either my float or the sending unit in the tank. Why in the world would anyone make a vehicle with a "reserve" pass E almost as much as what the gauge reads before E?

View 2 RepliesWindstar :: 1997 GL 3.8L - Intermittent Misfire On 2 / Code Reads P0302
I have a new (to me) '97 Windstar with 128K +. C.E.L. is on and intermittently flashing. The code reads P0302 (Cylinder 2 Mis-fire). No other codes are set. Have cleared them many times and gone through multiple drive cycles.
Description of issue: After clearing the codes, and indeed upon each startup, the car starts and idles smoothly without hesitation or issue. It pulls away from parked position without issue. Appears to accelerate just fine. In stop-and-go traffic or directly onto the highway it seems to run smoothly without problem. After a period of time (I don't believe it to be consistent), it will start to misfire and the C.E.L. will be set. If it is still misfiring, the light will flash.
Here's the weird part...when stopping at a traffic light or just continuing to drive on the highway, the misfire will resolve and the car will run smoothly again. The C.E.L., trailing the condition by a bit, will go to solid from flashing and will remain that way until a little farther down the road. The misfire never seems to be more than one cylinder and the trouble code seems to bear that out. Just idling, the car will return to smooth operation and it seems to have smooth acceleration. In other words, the misfire seems to go away under acceleration.
What I've done: I've replaced plugs and wires. No change. Replaced Coil pack. No change.
Next steps: Next steps seem to be looking to fuel or air. My concern with that approach is the occasional nature of the problem. Compression problems would be consistent across the board, right? That cylinder would always be a problem. Same thing for fuel (fuel pump and/or filter). All cylinders would have the problem and it would have issues starting. OK, next thing--injector. Would an injector have spotty performance like this? Also, could it be related to the EGR ports on the intake on this vintage Windstar? (Once again, is an intermittent problem consistent?) Finally, since the primary circuit for spark is controlled by a PCM pin setting a ground for each cylinder, could the PCM, or wiring, be the culprit?

View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: CEL Came On And Throwing Code P1116
Wife has a 2013 V and I bought a 2007 with 200000k on the clock. Got a good deal on the car and knew I would have some issues so here is what I am battling. CEL came on and throwing code P1116. We all know the generic code saying engine coolant temp sensor, cooling sensor clogged, etc. this is the only code on the reader. I checked the coolant level and everything is within standards. No leaks appear from the lines. I believe the carfax shows a fender bender so maybe the CHS tank sensor didn't get replaced? So, I guess what I am asking is:
Should I buy a MINi VCI to locate the problem (I plan on getting one eventually just wanted to save money isolating the problem now)? ECU problem? I have read previous post with bad ECUs throwing P1116 but these post were 2+ years. Sometimes it sounds like there might be gurgling from the dash...I say sometimes lightly because it is very faint but have also read older post stating air could throw the p1116 code so maybe a coolant flush?
Also, big question: is the engine coolant temp sensor identical to the CHS tank sensor? The local parts store couldn't find a CHS tank sensor part number just the engine so didn't know if they were the same.

View 9 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: CEL On And Throwing Code P2400 For The Second Time
I am stage 1 tuned and just have simple bolt ons. About a year and a half ago i had my CEL come on and it was P2400. I was still under warranty and took it into the dealer. They ran through the whole eval system along with replace my evap pump and the CEL was still on. Well then they replaced the ECU and all was fixed. that following fall i took it to APR to get ref lashed and all was well. Until 2 weeks ago. The CEL is back on throwing the same code. I believe its the ECU again and I'm waiting to get into APR to have them fix whatever it is. They believe its evap but I'm not convinced.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Engine Code 1106 / Temp Gauge No Longer Reads Anything
Mine is a 99 gls with the v6 and manual trans. I have 108,000 miles on it and mostly performs great except that my cabin lights are dead (moon roof still works, dash lights even the lights in the doors for the windows and locks light up but not the cabin lights and I can't find a dead fuse anywhere and the dealer looked at it for an hour with no luck). [URL]...
Mine is pretty intermittent at least over the last 6 months, but my temp gauge no longer reads anything and I've gotten a CEL twice now, this second time I pulled the code at autozone with an answer of 1106. I've had my 90k maintenance with the timing belt/water pump/coolant flush service.
I've also noticed when starting it up in the morning I'm getting quite a varnish smell out of it that my wife's 07 Rabbit doesn't produce and my mileage is still around 25 mpg for a 5 mile commute.
Now I see this is a pretty cheap part, so I'm going to wrench it myself but... where the heck is it? I've done the electrical replacement on my 96 jetta wolfsburg that had the 2.0 in it which was pretty easy but my passat seems to be hiding everything under the hood with fancy engine covers and stuff.
Engines - Camry :: Stalled When Put Car In Reverse To Downshift - CEL Code Reads PO171
While driving in a storm over the winter, I hit a skid and reverted to my old days of driving on ice (in a different stick-shift car). I tried to down-shift our '98 Camry (automatic)....so I placed it in reverse. It stalled. The car continues to run, but the check engine light has been on since that day.
I took it into a nearby garage the next week and they couldn't find any engine issues that time. They turned off the check engine light. It came back on the next day. I went to Advanced Auto Parts and got the code read: PO 171.
Since then, I've been driving the car once or twice a week, saving up $$ before taking it to my new repair shop -- to which we've switched for our other car. What might I expect to hear from them about our Camry? Am I damaging the car by continuing to drive it?
