Prius (2004-09) :: Display Does Not Work Properly On The Climate Control Screens
I just bought a 2007 and my Multi Information Display does not work properly on the climate control screen or information screen. ie when you press temp up or down buttons it sometimes works and when you want to change the fan speed and press medium it goes to low. On the information screen no matter what you select it goes to Trip information screen. However the Audio screen works perfectly.

The buttons to change the temperature in my 2010 Prius don't do a thing... The temperature is cool-ish as long as you have the AC turned on, and stays the exact same as you increase the temperature until you get to 85 and it maxes out, then it starts to get warm. As soon as you go to 84, it's cool again.

My 2009 Prius was parked for two weeks. When I started yesterday the red triangular warning light, circular yellow light with exclamation symbol in center, and vsc warning lights did not go off. No previous problem with these. Top half of display screen blank. Vehicle started/ran normally. No change in handling or braking. On highway, cruise control would not activate.
View 19 RepliesSonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Interior Temp Does Not Hold Current Set Climate Control Temp
On longer trips, over 20+ minutes that the interior temp does not hold the current set climate control temp? If using sync on both sides, the temp in the cabin seems to creep down and you have to keep upping the setting and then reduce it because its too hot.
We have an older 2001 Infiniti I30 and it keeps adjusting to hold the right temp.
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Way To Bypass Temp Control To Circulate Air With Fans Only?
I just want to circualate air. Everytime, I increase the speed of the fans, automatic temperature control kicked in. What is the proper way to bypass Temp control (no heat or AC)?
View 14 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Got Too Many Visible Scratches?
Noticed that the Gen 3 black model seems to scratch very easily? In my ten years of owning cars, I've received less than 10 scratches. In 10 months of owning my Gen 3, I have now at least 5 pretty visible scratches. I do my best to park away from other cars, don't park by high pedestrian traffic streets, etc. I'm taking precautions I never took with my other cars and I still get rudely surprised almost monthly.
View 19 RepliesPrius V :: Scratches And Gouges In Cargo Area
I've had my v for about a year and I find that I have many scratches and gouges especially in the cargo area. The plastic seems much easier to damage than any car I've ever had. I'll need to be especially careful in the future. But I would like to find a way to cover up, seal or patch the damages.
View 1 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Scratches On The Rear Spoiler
Every car has its "Persian flaw," but this one irks me. A bird pooped on the car (in several places), and I always addressed the problem by laying wet paper towels over the mess to "pre soak" and then I could wipe it away without damaging the finish underneath.
Well, this time, a bird must have had a healthy diet of grit because that poop acted like sandpaper and put nice scratches into the finish before I could stop what I was doing.
It's not that obvious, but it bothers me. I don't want to attempt to buff out or polish out the scratches without knowing what WILL do the job right. I don't want to make a bigger mess trying to fix it.
Prius (2010-12) :: Scratches On The Rear Fender?
I bought the car yesterday as certified used, but today I noticed some tiny scratches on the rear fender. It looks like it was scratched before, and the bumper is repainted, but not the fender. I can hardly see the scratches nor do I care too much about it, but I am going to take the car to GEICO for photo inspection, and I worry if they will deny coverage if someone hits this part of the car.
The first photo is just down to a bit of white primer, the second photo shows a deeper scratch at the corner but I am not sure if it is deep to primer or metal. This may be just a small touch-up job without taking it off. Anyway I will take the car to a shop for an estimation before I go for GEICO's inspection.

I picked up my Prius III last month (love it) and noticed some hairline scratches in the black spoiler, but thought they might wax out as they are pretty faint (they didn't).
Looks like the dealer ran a gritty wash mitt or sponge over the spoiler and swirled the finish. In the bright sun you can see many light scratches in the finish.
I thought about using a gentle polish, but wasn't sure if that was a good move as I think it is just a high gloss plastic and not paint. The last thing I want to do is add more damage.
I did wash, clay, and wax my car as soon as I could and spent some time detailing it and thought the scratches were reduced, but had it out today and they are still there.
Golf VI R :: Enabling Oil Temp Display On MFD?
I was curious what it would take to enable the oil temp display on the MFD in the US Golf R similar to my Mk3 or on Golf Rs in other markets. I'll just mention up front, that to enable this would be (a) a fair amount of cost and work for something of marginal value, and (b) can be done easily with an external gauge instead. That said, here's what I've come up with so far:
The instrument cluster in the US Golf R is capable of displaying oil temperature. This can be enabled through VAG-COM by changing the coding of the cluster to state that a TOG sensor is connected to the cluster. However, since the car is not equipped with the oil temp sensor, no temperature will display and a fault code will be logged.
The oil temp/level sensor is called "TOG" (Temperatur Oelstands Geber or Temperature / Oil Level Transmitter) and is used in many VAG products. It bolts into the oil pan.
To install this, we would need to replace the oil pan with an oil pan from a Golf R which is equipped with a TOG (part#?).
Not sure the part number of the TOG for the Golf R. And example of a TOG part number is 03C907660M, but I'm not sure which version is needed. A couple of misc parts (bolts, cover) may also be needed.
I suspect the sensor would then need to be wired to the instrument cluster (as opposed to the ECU or other controller). I'm not sure what the wiring for the TOG is, but I suspect it might need power, ground and then run a signal wire to the cluster. It appears to be pretty easy to remove the cluster and gain access to the cluster wiring. On other VWs, it hasn't been difficult to add a wire into the cluster connector. But we'd need to know the pin-outs of the instrument cluster to figure out where it should go.
I saw a TOG sensor wiring harness part number of 8D0-971-379B which may or may not be useful.
Prius V :: Scratches On The Plastic Piece Surrounding Power Window Buttons
My wife came home today and asked me to take a look at something on her brand new 1 month old Prius V 5. I asked her was there something wrong with her car. Of course she told me no, everything is fine. She opens up the driver side front car door, (she has a Barcelona Red V with Bisque faux leather interior) and points out some small scratches on the plastic silver/gray plastic piece that surrounds the power window buttons. It looks like while she was driving she probably put her hand on that area with her wedding band and diamond most likely scratching the area. This is only a guess at what caused it. I can't believe something as placing your hand down would scratch it that easily. That area probably shouldn't be plastic or should of been protected a little better.
View 6 RepliesPassat (B6) :: A/C Not Working - Temp Display Blank
I just picked up my car from the body shop and noticed the outdoor temp display in the MFD blank (3 dashes) and the AC is blowing hot air. I don't hear the compressor going on either. The AC was working fine until I brought it in. (Why does it always end up like this?!)
Since this was an insurance claim due to a motorcyclist hitting the front driver panel and ripping off a portion of the bumper, the body shop said they didn't touch anything with the AC.
I'm bringing the car back in tomorrow morning so they can have a look and determine whether it was loss related. Is there a sensor in that area? What to check? I have the manual climate system (climactic?).
Camry :: Outside Temp Display Not Showing Temperature?
The temp display on the instrument cluster is showing "--" rather than the temperature. How I can go about diagnosing a fix?
I am looking for a manual but in the meantime I have yet to even find the temp sensor let alone start tracing wires back to the the display for a fault.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Outside Temp Display Being Way Off
Having issue with the outside temperature display being way off. It doesn't do it all the time, but does seem to happen if I've been plowing or something. I think I've had it happen in the summertime also, but can't remember the circumstances. Basically it must be happening because I'm not moving much air. Where the sensor is located, and could there be something that may be blocking the air flow? I know this is a piddlely little problem, but if it's easily remedied, I'd would really like an accurate reading.

I just purchased a 2010 Barcelona Red Prius II to replace my 2008 vehicle of the same color (which is going to our daughter). We have a terrific dog who, in my 2008 car, would often step onto the metal part of the car when getting onto or off from the backseat. This has left scratches in the paint, as it lies behind the area protected by the grey plastic in both cars (i.e., where it begins to slope upward). Is there anything that can be done to protect this?
