Prius (2010-12) :: Scratches On The Rear Spoiler
Every car has its "Persian flaw," but this one irks me. A bird pooped on the car (in several places), and I always addressed the problem by laying wet paper towels over the mess to "pre soak" and then I could wipe it away without damaging the finish underneath.
Well, this time, a bird must have had a healthy diet of grit because that poop acted like sandpaper and put nice scratches into the finish before I could stop what I was doing.
It's not that obvious, but it bothers me. I don't want to attempt to buff out or polish out the scratches without knowing what WILL do the job right. I don't want to make a bigger mess trying to fix it.
Prius (2010-12) :: Fixing Hairline Scratches On Rear Spoiler
I picked up my Prius III last month (love it) and noticed some hairline scratches in the black spoiler, but thought they might wax out as they are pretty faint (they didn't).
Looks like the dealer ran a gritty wash mitt or sponge over the spoiler and swirled the finish. In the bright sun you can see many light scratches in the finish.
I thought about using a gentle polish, but wasn't sure if that was a good move as I think it is just a high gloss plastic and not paint. The last thing I want to do is add more damage.
I did wash, clay, and wax my car as soon as I could and spent some time detailing it and thought the scratches were reduced, but had it out today and they are still there.
Prius (2010-12) :: Protect Rear Door Lower Body Panel From Scratches?
I just purchased a 2010 Barcelona Red Prius II to replace my 2008 vehicle of the same color (which is going to our daughter). We have a terrific dog who, in my 2008 car, would often step onto the metal part of the car when getting onto or off from the backseat. This has left scratches in the paint, as it lies behind the area protected by the grey plastic in both cars (i.e., where it begins to slope upward). Is there anything that can be done to protect this?

Noticed that the Gen 3 black model seems to scratch very easily? In my ten years of owning cars, I've received less than 10 scratches. In 10 months of owning my Gen 3, I have now at least 5 pretty visible scratches. I do my best to park away from other cars, don't park by high pedestrian traffic streets, etc. I'm taking precautions I never took with my other cars and I still get rudely surprised almost monthly.
View 19 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: How To Replace Front Fender
I am working on my 2010 Prius, and needing to replace the front right fender. I have the collision manual, however, it does not shown completely what all must come off to remove the fender. I've removed the obvious 4 bolts, etc. Specifically
(a) what all must be removed to take off the fender, and
(b) are there any fender bolts that are concealed or out of plain view?
Prius (2010-12) :: Small Gap In Fender Area?
I noticed the seam between the body and the bumper/fender part on my Prius was gaping ever so slightly today. It looks like there are a few light scratches, so maybe someone lightly bumped me? I tried pushing it in and up in case a clip wasn't catching, but I can't get it to completely close. I know it's a minute thing, but now that I've noticed, it bothers me.
View 17 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Front Fender Warping From Inside Due To Heat Damage
I have a 2010 Toyota Prius. I have had it for a little over a year. A couple weeks ago I noticed that the paint on the front fender had "bubbled up" in a strip approximately 8 inches long. It felt like the fender was cracked underneath it. I took the car in to the dealership. Their service department took off the fender and said that it was warped, not broken. They said it was due to some kind of heat damage that it had been exposed to. Of course, they said it wasn't due to any malfunctioning of the car. They say the car must have been "exposed" to some kind of heat source. In other words, it is all my fault and they are not going to fix it under the warranty! I have not exposed it to any kind of heat, except sun light!

My car has many new dents and scratches (Got some scratches on my hood due to my awesome snow scrapper, and a mysterious new dent on my bumper that I saw after I washed some salt off). Anyway scratches I can deal with. It's just this bit of rust that's bothering me. It's on the rear driver side window pane.

I purchased a CPO 2013 RX350 recently and just noticed that it has some scratches in the navigation screen (only seen in certain conditions when black and not under power). I am scared to try any compound on it.
View 4 RepliesFord A/C :: 2010 Escape - Scratches On Driver Side View Mirror
we've had our 2010 Ford Escape limited about a month now. Don't know how it happened, but somehow now there's 4 or 5 2 inch scratches in the drivers side view mirror. These mirrors are heated, how can I tell if they're still operational now? I know scratches in the class can compromise the heat function. I want to get it fixed immediately if it doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesPrius V :: Scratches And Gouges In Cargo Area
I've had my v for about a year and I find that I have many scratches and gouges especially in the cargo area. The plastic seems much easier to damage than any car I've ever had. I'll need to be especially careful in the future. But I would like to find a way to cover up, seal or patch the damages.

Somehow I keep acquiring new scratches on my temperature control display (the glass part that reads outside/inside temp and air flow level). I tried to cut out a ipad screen protector but it looks terribly sloppy! I would buy one if I could find one that fit the Prius specifically.....
View 12 RepliesCorolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Rust Between Rear Bumper And Fender?
So, after washing my car, I noticed something orange/brown between my rear bumper and rear fender... it's rust. So, what should I do? I know it will only spread but since it's on the rear quaterpanel, it's not easily replaceable unless I cut the metal or sand it down and repaint it. Should I go to the dealer and see what they say?

I have a 03 explorer with rear a/c and heater that has a clunking noise when the key is in the on position. The noise seems to be coming from the rear heater core or the rear a/c evaporator. I thought it was the rear blower motor, but noise is still there even when blower motor is disconnected.

View 12 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Rear Fender Flares Removal?
I want to get the rear fender flares on my dually painted, they had a few scuffs when I bought it & I will soon have some spare time to get it sorted. We can't get the truck in the paint booth so taking them off seems like the ideal solution. I have had a quick look & I think it's just a case of removing the plastic liner (screws & clips) then it looks like there are some nuts up inside the steel fender, disconnect the wiring & they should come off!
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 - Rust Rear Fender Well?
I own an '03 F250 and have had it since new. I love the truck, keep it in good condition, and plan on keeping it for at least a few more years. For some time now I've had the classic small spots on one rear fender well. The spots are getting a little bigger and look like they're going to come through soon. I'm not a big fan of fender flares, but from what I understand, that's the easiest way to fix the problem, cut the rust out/seal it, install fender flares. Is there any other way to fix the rust without repainting the whole bed? I don't like fender flares because I think they look a little weird with stock tires and also because it's only one fender that is rusting, but I'd have to install them on all four. If fender flares are the only way to go, any that are small and low profile?
