Prius (2004-09) :: AC Stops Blowing Cool Air / Dash Lights Up With Numerous Warning Lights
I had just picked my kid up from school, as I turn out of the parking lot my A/C stops blowing cool air, I check the A/C screen and it still says it's set on High with temp at 68. However, it is blowing very low with warm air. Seconds later the dash lights up with numerous warning lights. I'm on the highway and I'm able to gather speed, but each time I do I hear the engine revving like crazy. We only live a few miles from the school so I am able to make it home. Once home, I turn off the car and turn it back on. The only warning lights displayed now are the red triangle and the yellow check engine light. I turn the car off, pop the hood, I check the belt and it was fine. I checked the oil and it seemed fine. I check the coolant overflow and it was empty.

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
Prius (Gen 2) :: VSC And ABS Lights Came On
The abs and vsc lights have been going on and off for a few weeks. I waited until the lights were on and stayed on so the dealer could get any codes because they have said they can't read them if the lights are off. So they come back after 20 minutes and tell me that the lights are on but their computer says there is no problem.
That means to them there is some communication problem and they need at least 2 hours to figure out the communication problem. Then they can start figuring out why the abs and vsc lights are.
Prius C :: Allow Fog Lights To Be On Without Headlights?
I want to be able to turn on my fog lights without having to have my headlights on too.

This has been an intermittent problem, resolved temporarily by system off/on. Dealer installed new brake hardware ; No dice. Took car to street mechanic, who removed and replaced pertinent fuses and relays (same parts) no problems for six months. Prob came back, took the cover off the fuses and relays under the hood, while alarm wailed and lights blazed, tapped on relay, lights off, alarm silent function perfect.

I noticed on my Prius four there is a row of LED lights above each headlight. Do they come on? I can't seem to get them to turn on at all. The one parking light above the headlight do come on.

My 4 month old Prius 2010 is not starting since this morning. My wife drives the Prius and when she tried to start it this morning, it would not start. The MFD lights up and all the symbols stay lighted rather than turning off. My wife tried it 5-6 times, but to no avail. She tried to start the car this afternoon and the same problem. I only had this car for 4 months and i cannot understand what is happening. To be clear, my wife drives this car regularly to take my son to school and various other activities. This is the first time that we have this issue and i was just wondering if the 12v battery is the issue.

Well, started up my car from a neighbor's home this morning. All fine. About 30 seconds later, more or less and the red triangle and all the dash lights come on (check engine, brake light, tire light, etc.) The display screen that shows consumption, etc. was a bit dim, and at the top was a faint small triangle with a ! mark in it also.
I had just started up my quarter mile long single-track driveway, which is quite steep. Was panicked, but knew I could not stop there. Kept going.
The battery kept going down.
I made it to a turn out just as the battery bar turned from blue to purple (two bars left).
Stopped car.
Opened hood. Saw nothing.
Opened hatch. did not know what to do, but checked the ground from the 12-volt to the car. Good and solid.
Prius (Gen 2) :: All Warning Lights Came On After Idle
I have a 2008 Prius Basic (no back-up camera ) I just got this car and it started and drove and ran fine w/out any problems. After having it sit in my garage while waiting for title and paperwork. Now when I start the car, it starts works for about 3 secs and then slowly starts stalling as if it's choking and then just stalls....
All lights come on, including the triangle, red car w/ exclamation on MFD comes on and MFD says Car has Problem.

OI have a 2005 Toyota Prius and it won't start.l I went to go warm it up so I could get ready to leave the house,I grabbed my keys and it beeped once I put my foot on the brake and pushed the start button all my lights went on and after that pretty much froze and I could not turn the car off nor shift to reverse or drive. As I am driving, occasionally, the abs and brake lights come on but only when I am using the bluetooth OBD2 connector with Torque running. Its happened 3 times in the past week. Almost everytime I use the app.
When they first came on I let the app do a trouble code scan and it said nothing was saved in the cpu. When I started the car the lights were off.

I bought my 2004 Prius back in October at a used Honda dealership. A couple of weeks after I bought it I was driving, had been driving for over 2 hours and made a stop. When I left from the stop and tried to stop at a stop sign, my "abs" and "vsc" lights came on and my brakes would not work for more than 5 seconds at a time. I could push them and it would slow down but then it was like my foot left the pedal and the brakes went out.
I pulled over and had the dealership come tow it to their shop and I left it there for a day. They called me to come get it, so I picked it up, and they never charged me anything so I assumed it was all under warranty or something. Now almost 7 months later I am having the same exact problem. I called the dealership to see what they did to fix it last time and they said there was no record that anything had been done to it, that they think it just started up fine with no problems when they tried.

When I turned my Prius on today, the following warning lights remained on:
red "BRAKE"
yellow "ABS"
yellow "VSC"
yellow exclamation mark inside a circle inside parentheses.
It drives fine. After driving it a bit I tried turning the car off and back on a few times. The lights still remain on.

Mine did. I was driving on the highway and pretty much every warning light went off. It was like the space shuttle crashing back to Earth. Freaked me out. Cruise control stopped working also. But I was able to get home safely.
So first, I tried AAA just to see if the guy would know something, but it was way over his head. He did notice my aux battery was failing, but not much else. Then I found a service online that comes to your place to do the work, and they sent a guy out on a Saturday and he read the codes, and did a full visual inspection, and yes, something was up with the cooling system. He suggested I have the dealer look at it because flushing the system is VERY important apparently. Should be done every 50,000 miles.
I was so worried it was the hybrid battery; we all know what that means! So I had the car towed to the dealer (don't drive if your Master/Hybrid light comes on!) and they said, indeed, the pump was gone. And, of course, they found a number of other things included the dying aux battery. It took them 4 days to get the damn part in stock. At least they covered the car rental for me.
Prius (2010-12) :: When Do Brake Lights Come On
I have a really long downhill at the end of my commute. If I am putting on slight brake pressure to regen, are my brake lights on? Or do they only come on when you put enough pressure on the pedal to start slowing the car?
