Prius (2010-12) :: Turning Up Navigation Sound?
There must be a way to "turn her off" but I have not found it in the book. When I want to "cancel" the directions being given, what's the secret?

Oddly enough, I only get this when the car is slowing to the last few mph, say 8 and lower & while turning to the right. Straight or left it doesn't do this.
I have looked under and around the tire/wheel to see if there is a stick or something but there isn't anything that I see.
It sounds like the playing card in the spokes of a bicycle. The click slows as the car does, so I swear it is something that is coming in contact with the wheel.
Ford Excursion :: 6.0L - Starter Not Turning Engine - Click Sound
Drove about 10 mins and parked. Came back 5 mins later and wouldn't start. Starter click can be heard when trying to crank but doesn't turn engine. Checked fuse (#113) and starter relay - both are good. AAA came out and tried to jump but no success. Flat bed towed back to my house last night.
This morning, woke up bright and early to pick up brand new Napa Premium starter. Replaced it thinking that was it. No dice- same thing, 1-click, no turning of engine.
Batteries & terminals both good & clean. Hooked up 2 additional fully charged deep cell marine batteries via jumper cables and no difference. Voltage @ starter terminal = 12.4V.
When cranking, voltage drops all the way down to 1-2V if holding the key in the crank position (1 click and then nothing). Returns back up to ~12V when released.
Jumped pos terminal to starter solenoid, got clicking but doesn't turn engine.Is my tranny or engine frozen...?!
Prius (2010-12) :: Ticking Sound When Braking And Turning Right
When slowing to a stop and turning to the right, there is a ticking sound (not loud) coming from the front. The ticking rate slows as the wheel slows and continues until almost stopped. Break pedal pressure does not affect the sound. The dealer tech heard the sound on a demo drive but they had no clue what it was and found nothing wrong.
The tech, sitting in the right seat thought the sound was coming from the left side. I hear it coming from the right side. Maybe that means it comes from the middle? I only hear it when coming to a stop. Maybe road noise covers it up at higher speed but I don't know.
Currently at about 38,000 miles.

Recently (5-6) months my Gen II has been making some weird sound when I turn it on before the ICE starts. Also when I turn it off after the ICE shuts down. I really don't know how to describe the sound so I took some clips of it. Sort of a high pitched grind maybe? Car has 45xxx, just had the Hybrid water pumped replaced.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2006 - Motor Whirring Sound After Turning Off?
We are only one week in to owning our 2006 Prius! Question is why does it sound like a motor whirring sound after turning it off? It only lasts 20 to 30 seconds, just wondering if this is a normal sound?

In the past few days, our car (2006 Prius) has begun making some louder-than-normal noises while driving. I've determined that the noise appears when you turn the wheel at all to the right (note: not just making a right turn...any degree to the right past straight is enough). It seems to be constant when the car is running, but really only becomes perceptible around 30 mph. The sound is sort of like a buzzing. Maybe a grinding, but not quite. It sounds like it might be similar to this issue (2006 Engine Noise - buzzing, especially loud on highway | PriusChat), but I can't quite be sure.

My daughter has inherited a 2002 Gen I Prius, and is complaining about the stereo. Says the speakers sound distorted and rattle when she turns up the volume.
The car is hundreds of miles from me, so I don't know if it's bad speakers, poor speakers, bad amp, underpowered amp, or just general malaise from age.
Options for upgrading or replacing the stereo system?
As I recall, the stereo may not be as integrated as on the later generations, but it sure isn't easily replaceable with a 3rd-party unit.

Just bought an 05 yesterday. It has 193k. The steering seems to have some play and an occasional clunking sound when turning the wheel. I do not know of a dealer or an independent shop that will give me an honest opinion or quote..

so I was heading off the freeway to take my exit at night. Didn't see there was a little curb island between the main freeway and exit. Went with the car over the curb and my right passenger tire went out.
I changed the tire and driven off, then noticed the car sound got much louder all of a sudden and when I turn the steering wheel right or left, I hear or feel a heavy sharp sensation- yet the car turns fine, it just sounds louder when I press the gas and when I turn the steering wheel I can feel my feet vibrating a bit and a soft/sharp squeak sound comes out.
What could this be?
Phaeton :: Achy Sound While Turning Steering - Engine Warning Light On - Trip Odometer Won't Rest On Display?
Three things happened with my Phaeton today.
First, when I pulled out of the driveway, there was an "achy" should as I turned the steering wheel. I sound like it coming from under the hood in the area of the steering mechanisms. I am hoping it just might be low power steering fluid?
Second, my engine warning light (amber) came on after going through a car wash. Everything seems to run fine, so I plan to just wait and see if it turns itself off again.
Last - and only as an irritation - I noted that my trip odometer on the front dash display won't reset when I go into the console "trip data" and press reset. Am I doing something wrong?

I understand the engine turns on and off frequently (coming to a stop it turns off, then when going it turns on). I have noticed that sometimes when at the stop it will turn off, then immediately back on, and off again, even with my foot on the break.

Sometimes I forgot to up my window before I turn off the engine. I cannot up my window being in accessory mode neither. Any way to go around this?
It allows only around 20 seconds after power down to up the window, not after that.
Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Turning On At Low Speed / Acceleration
I have noticed that recently my engine seems to be coming on when I accelerate from a stand still even with very slow acceleration.
For example today: battery over 50%, foot off break and onto gas very gentally, 0 to 10 in about 4 seconds at about 8 mph I feel the engine kick in.
Over the last few days it has seemed like the engine has been running a lot in town or when moving slowly in heavy traffic.
If I press the ev button I can accelerate quiete aggressively before the engine will start.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Gas Engine Turning On Right After Start / Revving High - Code P3190
My girlfriend has a 2004 Prius with the nav kit and has been having some rather odd issues as of late, of which seemed to have started after she hit an animal. The gas engine in her car seems to be turning on right away when she turns the car on. The engine also sounds quite loud, almost as if it is revving. Her gas mileage has also dropped considerably, from 45-ish down to around 33 mpg. Also, upon stopping, the mileage gauge on her nav screen doesn't immediately go to 99. Instead it sits around in the 40s for a while before jumping up to 99.
Now, she mentioned this to the tech at the dealer when she finally went to get the recall done on her water pump, but the guy said it drove fine and threw no codes. She then took it to another shop who said it threw a P3190 code, but he had never seen this issue and wouldn't know how to fix it.
The only thing I could find while searching around (mainly on this forum) was that it could be a problem with the electric throttle body. The throttle body seems to make sense to me, but she isn't totally convinced. She also has a 200+ mile trip coming up for the holiday season and it would be nice to fix the issue before that.
Prius (2010-12) :: Passenger Side Light (low Beam) Always On Even After Turning Switch Or Engine Off
My car is having a problem of passenger side light (low beam) being always on even after turning the switch or engine off. I have to unplug it to prevent it from draining the battery.
I am not too familiar with electrical system on the Prius, but suspect bad relay or something related. Where the relay for the headlight is?
Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Engine Not Turning Over When Press Brake Pedal And Start Button
I have a 2007 Toyota Prius. When I press the brake pedal and press the start button the engine does not start or the wheels are not powered by the battery. It gives me the following errors:
The indicator in the Start button lights in Amber Color.
0 kmph mark is not activated in the dash board pannel.
When I shift the gears it only shifts to neutral ("N") gear.
I cant move the car forward or backward. An error message is displayed in the MFD in Japanese language. It is in Japanese and I cant read the error message.
Prius (Gen 2) :: Sound From Engine Bay / Air Con Was On
Was just sat in my car with the petrol engine off and heard a weird sound coming from the engine bay. The air con was on but surely it cant be so loud?
