Prius (Gen 2) :: Shutter / Vibration At Low Speeds When On Electric Driving
Vibration/shuttering feeling when on electric driving at low speeds 5mph or less or when letting car pull itself under creep in reverse/forward gears. it is almost like your driving over a rumble strip at low speed with no unusual sounds or noises. just feels a little jerky. it has been doing this since i got the car a year ago and no codes are thrown. trans fluid was changed about 5k miles ago at 87k and there was no unusual coloring, or metal in the fluid or on the plug. it was darker red but not burnt or foul smelling by any means. could this be a loose cv joint or drive shaft?
View 4 RepliesPrius V :: Drivetrain Shutter / Vibration For Short Period Of Time Until Back Off Throttle
Recently purchased my first Prius, it's the v wagon.
When accelerating from a stopped position in eco mode there's a relatively severe drivetrain shutter/vibration for a a short period of time until I back off the throttle, almost feels like a clutch slipping with added vibration.
It's probably a normal noise produced by this style transmission, just looking to verify if this is true so I can stop worrying about it.
Ford Excursion :: Noticeable Shutter / Vibration From Underneath
We went to an out of town zoo over the weekend and the exit is going up a short but steep incline. When going up I get this very noticable shutter, vibration coming from underneath but thats the only time it does it. This is the 3rd weekend in a row weve been there and its done it everytime. Is there anything I could check? Normal driving is non issue, and going up this incline were only going like 5 mph or so. Im stumped.

I have a 2012 4x4 f150 163" wheelbase 8' bed that vibrates/shutter when you take off you fell it more when you are on an incline and a WHOLE lot more when you have a load on the truck (trailer/load of fire wood).
View 3 RepliesHonda - Cr-v :: Loud Hum And Vibration Between 40 And 50 Mph On Acceleration And Deceleration
I have a 2002 Honda CRV-LX with over 200,000 miles. I'm experiencing a loud hum and vibration between 40 and 50 mph on acceleration and deceleration. It occurs when I'm driving straight or turning left, but goes away when I turn right.
View 1 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Vibration At 35 - 40 Mph During Acceleration And Deceleration
I just bought a used 2004 3.5l automatic Santa Fe. The vibration is most noticeable from 35 - 40mph during acceleration and deceleration. It's there at higher speeds but the car doesn't physically vibrate as much.
The vibration is there with the car coasting and transmission in neutral. It's there with the car coasting and the motor off.
The tires and wheels have been swapped out with other wheels and tires. No change.
The front driveshaft U-joint has been replaced. No change.
It seems to be in the drivetrain somewhere. I would like to fix it without slowly replacing everything.
Ford Transmission :: Vibration Occurring During Deceleration - Pinion Shaft Play
I had some vibration occurring during deceleration and though it was either the slip joint or the rear u-joint because I could sense some movement back there.
After I replaced the u-joints and properly serviced the slip joint I still had the issue (although it was a little better). I now see that there is a little bit of play in the pinion shaft. I can't really shake it back and forth, but if I hit it hard upward it clearly has play.
What should I do next? I have read a bunch, but would like to get an expert to chime in.
Ford Brakes/Suspension :: Vibration / Rattle After Letting Foot Off Gas Pedal / Deceleration
If I am going over 60MPH and let off the gas pedal (decelerate, no brakes) I get a bad rattle/vibration that shakes mainly the dash front. only happens when I let off gas pedal. As long as I am giving gas the Bronco runs smooth, no vibration/rattle at all.
I just changed..Front Rear Brakes, Repak Front Wheel Bearings. New Front Rear Shock (deutch Tech), new track bar poly bushings, greased all joints axles, changed rear diff fluid (bottle of transX diff additive 85W-90 gear oil). It did the same thing before all this too and it is intermittent (but more so than not). Sometimes it is really violent (feels like the whole truck is going too shake loose, other times it is fine.
I am going on a long trip Thursday and this is bothering me. Cant pin point problem. One note i towed a boat for the first time last sunday and the problem went away, i.e., more wait in rear? Alignment, tires, driveshaft? I really dont have time to do anything except minor adjustments before I leave.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 - Low Speed Vibration 15 - 20 Mph On Acceleration / Deceleration?
2004 F350 single rear wheel with 8" suspension (springs) lift and 37" tires all put on in 2005. Having low speed vibration 15-20 mph on accel and decel. Recently put on thick aluminum rear dif cover and vibration seems to have come since that install. Used Mobile synthetic fluid and 4 oz of Motorcraft antifriction additive and 4 oz of off brand. The Mobile fluid and antifriction have been in my barn for over 5 years in the winter and summer. I just changed the carrier bearing and all U-joints look good. Any chance the fluid and antifriction additive could be causing this? Truck has 66k miles.
View 6 RepliesPrius (Gen 1) :: Whining On Driver Side And Occasional Shutter At Take Off And While Driving
Replaced the main battery replaced 12V battery. Drives great except for the whining on the driver side and the occasional shutter at take off and while driving. Triangle is on and stays on engine light and now break light. Topped the break flood off. Cleared codes and the brake light came back on. Drove it home from Atlanta drove just fine. Lights just freaked me out though.
133,000 miles on the car. well kept.
Prius (Gen 4) :: 2016 - Grille Shutter Inoperative Warning And Check Engine Light On
Relatively new 2016 Prius Four with all the boxes checked was working just fine this morning. At the end of the work day I got in the car to drive home and I got a warning - 'Grille Shutter Inoperative Visit Your Dealer' - accompanied by a check engine light.
Since I'm a little over 200 miles from a dealership I'm in a bit of a spot. They have a local shop that they contract with but they can't get me in until Thursday.
Prius (2001-03) :: 2002 - Steering Wheel Shutter /Jerking Slightly From Left To Right
Only had this car for about a month and 1200 trouble free miles. Really in great shape but with 276K miles on it. Really runs great and feels like a new car inside and out.
Yesterday, a cool morning, 38 deg.. Started at the Ready, backing out of my car port and cut the wheel partially to turn 90 deg. to enter the street. Came to full stop and shift lever is still in Rev, before I could shift to Drive. The steering wheel shutters like I was going over a rough. Jerking slightly from left to right about 2-3 degrees. Stopped within about a second and I still had normal steering response. I continued onto the street and made a ran a 300 mile round trip on freeway and surface streets without any further problems.
I know the power steering is electric assist over mechanical linkage and can only imagine that there was a power glitch in the power convertor and I was feeling pulses from the feed back in the power steering drive. No hydraulics to blame, I don't think.

View 4 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Noticeable Deceleration When Take Foot Off Of The Accelerator
It seems to me my Prius 2007 decelerates noticeably when I take my foot off the accelerator. It's noticeable but not even near the level of the engine braking in B mode. The change seems to have happened since my last service but the I won't swear to it, and the dealer says there hasn't been a software change.
View 4 RepliesPrius (2010-12) Fuel :: Engine Starts Itself At 35 Mph While Deceleration?
Is it normal? I tried to find a discussion about this in this forum but couldn't find anything.
When coasting over 35 mph, when the speeds reaches 35, the engine (or ICE as you prefer) is starting for a second then stops. I really don't see why it would do that.
Prius (2004-09) :: Unexplained Whirring / Whining Sound During Deceleration
My "05" Prius has 164K, I'm the original owner and I have had great success with this car. I know some owners talk about the loud whining humming sound from the A/C unit which I am aware of but this newest sound is different and after 4 hours with a Toyota tech all they can come up with is an A/C compressor going bad. I only hear this sound after I reach 40MPH+ and then decelerate. It then winds down with the speed of the car sometime intermittently. If I accelerate it goes quiet.
I've also tried speeding up to 40MPH and then move into neutral. It will stop the noise. I'm adding a video and I realize there is standard road noise but if you watch my energy monitor you will hear the noise whirring winding when the green arrows point back to the electric motor. Pay close attention to the viseo frames at 13 seconds, 22 seconds and again at 29 seconds. Turn up the volume. Of course inside the cab it is much more pronounced. I'm finding it hard to believe this is an A/C compressor. Sounds more like an electric motor whining/whirring. I'm concerned about driving my car for safety reasons.
Passat (B6) :: 2010 Slipping Or Shutter Once The Car Gets To About 20 Mph
Well the wife and I got the new car itch so we went to VW and left with 2 cars mine 2011 Jetta SE for the wife we picked up a 2010 Passat with 17,600 mi CPO with an extended warranty up to 100,000k. Ok once the car gets to about 20 mph I feel a slipping or shutter or something then it is fine after that lots of power no issues. She drove down the street the other day and she said it felt like the parking brake was on and a dragging sound. She turned on and off the p button not better. She parked it and took my Jetta.

View 7 RepliesSuzuki - Forenza :: Engine Shutter From Speed Changes While Driving
I'm not sure what is the correct term to describe the engine behavior. Maybe backfire, knocking, but it doesn't sound like the youtube videos I see online. I just know that under certain conditions, the engine shutters with an exploding feel to it like it needed to "pass some gas" for a human.
This happens when braking quickly from high speed to slow speed or a quick stop. Also happens when accelerating then stopping a bit and resuming acceleration (an interrupted acceleration as rush hour traffic not allow for a nice acceleration - you know how people stop and go speeding up then having to break and repeat, affecting you and when you misgauge the best optimal acceleration speed, you have to stop acceleration a bit then resume).
I drive automatic transmission. Are many auto tranny cars affected by this type of thing? I seem to notice it with the cars I've driven. Or maybe I drive crappy cars. I think I noticed it once in a friends manual shift car. This expected normal behavior of cars?
Car drives fine except for the mentioned behavior for the drastic speed changes. The car is a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, automatic transmission. Currently 80k miles.
