Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Fuel Gauge Don't Register The Gas

I pumped 7.4 gallons of gas into my prius plug-in and the fuel gauge does not register the gas going into the gas tank. The gauge was down to four bars and after the gas was put in, it did not change. The trip odometer has me at 114 miles left, on what I measure as 10.4 gallons. Toyota care was contacted and is trying to figure out what to do next ad are two Toyota dealerships who have never heard of such a thing before.

Gmc - 1500 :: 2001 - Gas Gauge Always Register Empty When Fill Up The Car

I've got a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 with about 80,000 miles and with a gas gauge that is possessed. It sometimes appears to be working normally, but is just as likely to do very weird things, like: When I fill up the car with gas, it will always register empty. And it will stay there until it sees fit to move to full. BUT: if, as I'm traveling down the road, I move the transmission from drive to neutral, the gas gauge will move to full. This also happens arbitrarily between fill-ups, with the gauge sometimes registering empty and sometimes finding some random place around where it should be. Once again, if I put the car in neutral, the gauge will move to its correct position (at least I think it's the correct position!). I was told my one mechanic that the problem is that the fuel pump is wearing out, and that this problem is not uncommon for the Chevy/GMC trucks. The fuel pump is in the gas tank, I'm told, so to replace the fuel pump is rather expensive.

Ford - Explorersport :: 2000 - Oil Gauge Does Not Register Any Pressure Until A Mile Or Two

Oil gauge that doesn't register any pressure until a mile or two before it snaps up to a mid gauge reading? This truck has other "computer related issues" so I don't know if it is that or a weak oil pump. Is this an alarming symptom or a fluke?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Erratic Fuel Gauge - Level Would Register Full When Only Half A Tank Or So

I've been having a very erratic fuel gauge issue as of about 2 months ago. My fuel level would register full, when in fact I knew it only had 1/2 a tank or so. Then 5 minutes later it would be pegged on full. Under a 1/2 tank the gauge would read any where from 1/2 to empty from 1 minute to the next. So last week I decided to drop my tank and take a look. I was thinking maybe my fuel sender was broken, maybe a loose wire in the tank, or even that my float had dropped off in to the tank.

After dropping the tank, I removed the PK-Up and sending unit and everything was intact. I placed my ohm meter on the sending unit and it checked out fine. So I took the Pk-up and rolled back up underneath the truck and plugged it back in. I had my son turn the key on and off while I moved the float to different levels in order that it would register. It registered empty, 1/4/, 1/2, 3/4 and full just fine as I moved the float to those levels. If you leave the key in the run position and move the float, it won't register or better said, the in cab gauge will not adjust with the movement.

You have to turn the key off move the float and hold it there, then have your assistant turn the key on and the gauge will show the position that you've moved and held it at. I simply removed the plastic cover from the sending unit, and sprayed it down real good with electrical contact cleaner. I didn't scrub the copper contact area at all.

I was concerned that scrubbing might remove more than I wanted to, and really mess things up. I attached an Ohm meter and checked resistance thru out the float travel. All checked out good and I reinstalled it. So now my fuel gauge is working as it should be. I did make a video while I ohmed the Sender Unit thru it's travel, but for some reason it won't load.

Camry :: 1989 - Fuel Gauge Pointer Doesn't Go Completely Into F Mark When Gas Tank Filled

I drive a 1989 Toyota Camry LE with a V6 Engine. When I fill my gas tank, start the car, the fuel gauge pointer doesn't go completely into the "F" mark, see picture; I'll even wait after driving a few miles if the pointer will try to go past the "F" mark, but it won't. Could it be the gauge be faulty or the sending unit in the gas tank that's causing the gauge to read inaccurately?

We just bought a 2004 with 46000 mi. The screen does not register till about 5 to 8 miles down the road. Let me be clear it comes on but nothing works such as heat, radio, gas consumption. The radio and heat work off the steering wheel, they just don't register on the screen right away.

Prius (Gen 2) :: Smoke Filled In The Car - Battery Might Exploded

One of the battery module got exploded in my 2007 Prius with 160k miles on it while I was driving the road. I had a red triangle appeared few weeks ago, so I knew that I need to change the HV battery. However, I did not expect that it got exploded like this. I heard a loud 'BANG' noise from back and had a burnt smell. I immediately pull over my car (I could drive 0.1 miles more to find a proper space) and had my car towed to nearby Toyota dealership. I did not actually see the module exploded, however, from the threads here and there, I could guess what was happening.

I got a call from the Toyota today that they had smoke filled in a car when they started a car so they did not go any further from there. They called me because they need to pull out the battery to inspect if there are other problems underneath the battery.

Prius (2001-03) :: P0440 Code Shortly After Gas Tank Filled

I've got a 2001 Prius with a minor but annoying problem. It pops a P0440 code from time to time, always shortly after the gas tank is filled. Driveability/fuel economy are unaffected, and no other codes are ever triggered.

I checked for a cracked hose nipple on the "tank retainer", as posted by forum member kmc6566, but the unit on my car looked ok.

Golf V R32 :: Upshift Pedal Does Not Always Register

I've been experiencing some intermittent issues with my up-shift pedal not registering when driving in Manual mode.

Would a replacement paddle be required or a simple cleaning of the internal mechanism fix the issue? I don't have access to Vag-Com or I would have already pulled the codes.

I figure now is a good time to fix this issue as my Double Apex Pedals are on their way to me.

Camry :: 2011 V6 - Gas Smell After Tank Filled Up

I thought nothing of this before and just chalked it up to being at a gas station and the cold weather. But this is my 3rd fillup with this car and every single time i've smelled gas.

i just filled up my tank tonight and there was a gas smell, which went away after a couple of miles driving. Should i be worried? I mean smelling gas is never a good thing. Car is 2011 camry v6, 36k miles on it.

some have said its overfilling of gas, but i let off once it clicks and do not keep filling. Bought it used so not sure if previous owner liked to "top" it off.

is there anything i can check, i.e. fuel lines under car seats?

Lexus GX 2010+ :: Spark Plug Well Filled With Oil

The car is a 2010 with 65,000 miles on it. When I purchase a used car I make a habit of changing all the fluids and doing a tune up regardless of its service history.

While doing the spark plugs I found that one of the spark plug wells had about 3 inches of oil inside of it. The spark plug tube gasket had failed. I was surprised that the car was not misfiring yet.

Luckily it is just still in warranty and the dealer is fixing it at no cost to me. However most everyone will find this problem when it is too late as the service manual says not to change the spark plugs until 120,000 miles!
