Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Sloshing Sound When Turn On The Car - Water In Passenger Floor
Starting yesterday I noticed that I could hear a sloshing sound when I turn the car. It sounds like pouring water. After some driving around my neighborhood I've found that I hear the sloshing sound ONLY when the AC is on and when I turn left. It also has a sizzle sound that reminds me of dropping bacon in a hot pan.
I laid down in the floor and looked up under the dash. It looks like there's a motor and it's leaking water. That doesn't sound like a motor should be wet...The motor type thing appears to be a cylinder and says Bosch GM-M on it along with some numbers.
The carpet mat in the floor is getting a bit wet as well so that leads me to believe that something under there is leaking water and I can assume that it's leaking onto something hot creating the sizzle sound.
Prius (2004-09) :: Water Sloshing Sound When ICE Starts Up?
I have a 2005 Prius with about 185,000 miles on it. I've noticed a water sloshing sound coming from the engine area whenever the ICE starts up and I'm accelerating from a stop. This sound does not occur when just running off the battery in electric mode... only right after the engine cranks up. After a few seconds the sound goes away until the next stop.

I've got a 2006 with about 108k on it. I've noticed in the last month (or two) an odd sloshing of water that occurs BEHIND THE DASH when the car is first turned on and then appears to go away when warmed up. About a mile from my house this morning, I noticed the sound again when taking a right turn at a stop sign. This concerns me.
Here's what I've done:
1) Fluids are fine in the car. Checked them nothing low
2) no codes have been logged in my car.
3) I've researched this site and thought clogged evaporator ac drain tube so I tried clearing it.
I fired up the compressor, got underneath the car and proceeded to blast small shots of air up the tube. Nothing happened. No water coming out. Btw, there has not been any water drainage inside the car on either the driver or passenger side.
Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Sloshing Sound / Water In Cargo Area
My 2007 Prius has had the sound of water sloshing for a few weeks. On Monday a light on the dashboard (red triangle with exclamation mark) lit up. Took the car to the dealer and they diagnosed water in the cargo area which created corrosion on the prongs of the little white box which connects to the battery. I was told the rear window weather stripping needed replacing.

I have a 2001.5 Passat with the ATQ v6 and 5-sp manual tranny. A few weeks ago when I drove it up to Chicago, the heat completely stopped working. Cool air was coming out of the vents. Then when I drove back to Texas, the heater started working again. Now as of yesterday, the heater's out again. My temp sensor has the engine at 190 F, so I don't think it's overheating. One thing I do notice though is when I first start it and shift from first to second (or if I go over a speed bump), I will hear a water sloshing sound as if I'd hit a puddle. Whether it's the heater core that's blocked or perhaps the thermostat?

In the summer months when the air conditioning is in use, there is a back up of water. i can hear the water sloshing sound when the air is on and when making sharp turns it actually drains out on the front floor, both driver and passenger sides. it has also overflowed out the backseat air vents. my mechanic has told me the drain on this vehicle is tiny and becomes clogged easily. the car is parked in my garage, not left out in the elements so i disagree.

Prius makes all kinds of weird and almost funny noises; brake pump, electric motor hight pitch on braking and on ev mode.
I have 4 bare with me-questions:
When I start the car, before the ICE goes on, I hear a noise way back from drivers seat. Sounds like from back seat/trunk area. Sound is kind of pumping, low noise and goes on for maybe 3-5 seconds. Is it the gas pump? I have heard gas pumps before in cars on start and these is quite similar but louder
When I start engine cold(its around 5-10celsius now here on Finland, about 41-50 F), the ICE idles little uneven. RPM seems to be little waving, not much but audible up and down. I aint no expert but the rpm change is not big, maybe changing max 100-200 rounds up and down. Is this normal? My earlier car started cold in higher rpm but did not wave up and down.
Also to do with earlier question; when ICE is still cold( not freezing anyway) the first couple of stops at lights I very clearly feel a shudder. Keeping the brake pedal down and waiting on red light, the car shakes back and forth so that I feel it and even think someone standing outside car might even notice car trembling. Also ICE sounds abnormal at the same time; its not smooth sounding, kind of like misfiring, uneven sounding. Feels like gasoline is just about to go empty or car is stalling. Is this normal in "cold" weather? Heck, its not even below zero C here and car sounds like that.. waiting for winter and it gets -25 Celsius..
Prius (Gen 4) :: Odd Engine Noise Like Sloshing Water (not Knocking)
I started my Gen 4 Prius two yesterday and got out to adjust a bolt on the rear license plate and noticed a strange sound as the ICE in high throttle began the warm-up cycle- a sound like water sloshing around in the cat converter (or somewhere upstream?). Other new Gen 4 owners please check this and see if you hear this on startup. It is not regular enough a sound to be engine knocking, but literally like water churning. Not loud enough to hear from anywhere but right near the lower rear of the car. Hear this on new 2016? My Gen 3 never had this sound.

I hear water sloshing around in the front when I make a turn. I am wondering the vent holes by the windshield wipes near the windshield are used to vent air intake into the cabin. Could this sloshing be coming from in there? Is there a drain hole and it f so where Is it located can I clear it? 2004 prius .....

I took my 78K '07 Prius into dealer for the recalls, one of which was the electric water pump.
After picking up my car pulling out of the parking lot it started gurgling and hearing liquid sloshing around, I drove it straight back to dealer and they told me this new noise was from nothing they had done and must be a convenience. They believe its the ICE water pump as they can go bad at any time. I'm frustrated as I feel they had sabotaged my Prius and want the $400 to do the replacement.

It's a 2012 Elantra that I got in June of last year. So warranty or anything isn't an issue.
This morning upon making sharper turns, I hear a sloshing sound of sorts coming from the passenger side of the dash. I've read that this might be a condenser issue, or something with the drainage and the AC. I'm not really sure. Before I take it over to Hyundai, I want to give it the chance to dry out or whatever if it is just some rain.
It's not leaking in the car or anything, I can just hear it.
Prius (2004-09) :: Sloshing Sound From Behind The Dashboard - New Coolant Valve
We've gotten quite a bit of rain in the LA area over the last couple of days and I noticed today that sometimes when I start/turn-off the car I hear what sounds like a liquid sloshing around behind the dashboard. Reading on the boards it sounds like a clogged A/C drain, but as it happens I just had the Coolant Valve replaced yesterday (after CEL came on with a P1121 diagnostic code) and so I wanted to check in -- could this be at all related to the new valve OR is it likely just a coincidence?

Noticed a water sloshing sound coming from under the dash on initial start up when the ice engine comes on? I found a few things from searching, but nothing really conclusive. I didn't think much of it at first. Like maybe water was just coming up into the heater core or something. It doesn't do it all the time, but often enough that I'm starting to wonder if I should get it checked out.

Today it was raining and it sounded much louder. I can't locate where there may be a leak.

Yes, I know, it sounds completely peculiar but it is driving my wife and I crazy. It sounds like there is a bucket of water sloshing around in our backseat. However, there is no water, not a single drop, anywhere around the car or inside or outside of the car. We had heavy rain Wednesday night so that could explain the source but I can't find the entry point or exit point of the water anywhere on the vehicle.
Whenever we accelerate or brake, I can hear water rushing forward or backward but can't locate where the noise is coming from. Nothing is wrong with the car but I can't imagine this is a good thing.

There has been on/off heavy rain in northern nj the past week, and i noticed two nights ago that when i am turning it sounds like i have a waterfall in front of the dash. if i am making a right i hear water running towards the left and vice versa. I already searched and found one article pertaining to a "sloshing". the problem: it didnt have a solution.

I have a 2003 2.8 Passat. I replaced the timing belt and I am now hearing a noise that sounds like water sloshing slowly back and forth. I only hear it in the mornings when the car has been sitting over night. At first I thought it might be something like a little air left in the heater core. But after many days driving with the heater on full the problem is still there. The cooling systems works fine and I have hot air at the vents. It usually makes the noise during turns.

Only had my 07 GS350 AWD for about a week now, and i kept hearing water sloshing around the floor boards. Did some searching on her and the interwebs and found the HVAC evaporator drain blockage TSB. So.... this was step one in getting it handled. I don't think its been wet for too long, only because there is zero musty smell or mildew. I yanked the front carpets back, and parked nose forward on my steep driveway, sopped up 5 full bath towels worth of water, cranked the heat and put fans on it. Boom, cleanup, done!
