Prius (2004-09) :: Cannot Use Power Outlets

Have a 2005 prius with 71,000 miles, DVD nav and etc. Just 2 days ago the 120v cigarette outlet stopped working, then tried the one in the center counsel and it worked for like a second. Now both don't work.

Did research and heard it could be fuses. Replaces both 15A fuses that are under the driver side dash/steering wheel section. Still outlets will not work. Tried replacing the 25a fuse that I saw works in conjunction with both 15a and still nothing. I then read in some toyotas, and other cars that the outlet itself can be shorted out.

So question, is there some other fuse I'm missing, or something else to check. I tried pushing the connectors on the front passenger outlet to see if they were loose and still won't work. Do I need to replace the outlet itself. Can I just get a new one and unplug the old and plug a new one in. Looks like it comes right out? I need at least one outlet to work and am short on cash to have the dealer do it.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Both Power Outlets Stopped Working At Same Time?

I have a 2007 with 68k miles, and both the power outlet under the radio area-passenger side and the one in the console just stopped working (I use them to power my GPS and to charge my iPhone and iPad). From poking around this site, I think this could be because of blown fuses, but it seems strange that both fuses would go at the same time.

Prius (2004-09) :: Won't Start - 3 Fuses Blown

My cousin's 2009 Prius won't start and jump starting did nothing for them. In fact, when they tried it, they got sparks when they hooked up the ground cable and the headlights came on and stayed on the entire time they were attempting to jump it. Try again, and same thing but now I know they didn't go about it incorrectly or anything. There are also at least three blown fuses, I believe she said they corresponded to the smart key system, electronic throttle control (both up front) and then one in the trunk for the hybrid system.

Prius V :: ECM Malfunctioning - Blown Fuses

A dealership is attempting to charge me several hundred dollars to replace blown fuses that they claim is a result of an overpowered attempt at charging a seemingly dead 12V battery. The interesting part is that after also replacing the air/fuel ratio sensor (which they initially claimed was the cause of a check engine light even after replacing the fuses) Toyota is telling them that the ECM should be replaced in order to extinguish the check engine indicator.

Prius 2016 (Gen 4) :: Trunk Space Area / 12v Outlets Touring Vs Non-Touring Models

I'm a rideshare driver who drives about 1000 miles/week. I currently have a Gen 2 which I love, but I'm looking to upgrade to a Gen 4 pretty soon.

-Does the Gen 4 have the same kind of under-trunk storage area in the hatch/cargo area? This is important for me on the Gen 2 because it allows me to carry equipment while having an empty hatch space for passengers luggage. Does it depend on if you have a spare tire or not?

-Real-world MPG in extended city driving with A/C on?

-Where are the 12v outlets? And extend one into the hatch area?

-Is there a notable difference in comfort for touring vs non touring models?

-Does the driver's seat with lumbar support make a significant difference in comfort?

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: AC Won't Turn On Whether Engine Is Hot Or Cold - Fuses Ok

My 2004 GX470 started to have intermittent problems the last 2 weeks, where you would start up the engine and sometimes the A/C would not come on. Today it won't come on at all.

I homed out the fuse in the engine block for the A/C using my digital multimeter, and another smaller fuse that was a 7.5 Amp fuse, but and they check out, so the problem must be something else.

The A/C appears to be doing this whether the engine is cold in the morning or hot after you have driven it, and our temperature gauge is normal, and no check engine lights. Why the A/C is not coming on?

Prius (Gen 3) :: Removing Tanabe (strut Tower) Brace To Change Fuses?

I have given this scenario a careful study and developed a few tools and techniques for access to the fuse box cover on a Gen III Prius with a Tanabe strut tower brace installed.

1. The left hand bracket can be removed and reinstalled without removing the wipers, wiper motor and the two splash pans.

2. A 14mm offset custom made long box wrench or "ring spanner," a long flat blade screw driver and an extension magnet is needed to remover and install the bracket nuts.

There is enough space, using a long offset box wrench to loosen and tighten the 14mm flange nuts holding the bracket.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Overheating / Fans Stopped Working Correctly And Fuses Kept Blowing

I have a 2004 volkswagen jetta, and it has started overheating. At first my problem was the thermostat. After that was changed out the fans stopped working correctly. It kept blowing fuses in s180 slot.

I read somewhere in another post that this is due to the fact the resistor in the low speed fan go bad, and for your car's radiator fan to go from zero to high speed, causes the fuse to blow. Also I read that when the fans start up it draws the most current, and then after it's running the current is considerably less.

This is my solution, I went to napa, and got a circuit breaker for a car, and Yes, to my surprise they make them. I picked up several a 10amp, 15 amp, 20 amp, and a 30 amp. First, I tried the 30 amp circuit breaker and it didn't trip the circuit, but when I put a regular fuse in the slot, it did trip the circuit, when I did the fan test at the thermostat switch. Next, I put the 25 amp in there and neither did it trip the circuit. When I put the 10 amp in the s180 slot, it tripped the circuit, just as the regular 30 amp fuses do. So that confirmed that the amps that were being drawn from the fans were not enough to trip a 30 amp circuit breaker.

What I did next, is I took a 20 amp circuit breaker and put that in the s180 slot. Then I hooked up vag com on my laptop to check and see how it performed with the 20 amp circuit, and these are the results.

Car Temperature in celsius

at 111 degrees the gauge was moving past the halfway point
at 115 degrees the gauge was one notch past halfway going towards the red zone
at 120 degrees the gauge was two notches past halfway going towards the red zone
at 122 degrees the fans kicked on high speed for about 30 seconds, and knocked the
temperature down to 105 degrees.

In conclusion, if the high speed on the fans work, you don't have to take those out and go and buy an expensive new fan set. Just stick a 20 amp circuit breaker in the slot, and keep using the fans that you have.

Part no: 782-3154................ Name: Circuit Breaker, 20 Amp; Blade

Note: I take NO responsibility for any damage you do to your vehicle from any information you obtained from this post. Do this at your own risk! I am not a mechanical expert but this is my solution to the overheating problems.

Prius (2010-12) :: Windshield Wipers And Cigarette Lighter Plugs Don't Work - Fuses Blown?

We have a fleet of Prius's with 11k miles on them. Windshield wipers don't work and cigarette lighter plugs don't work. I'm guessing this is due to blown fuses. Where the fusebox is? Passat (B6) :: Power Indicator Came On And Went Off - 12V Outlets Not Working

I plugged in a 12V-to-AC converter (that I use to power my laptop) into the 12V outlet in the dash. The green power indicator led came on for about 1/2 a second and then went out. Thinking the issues was with the converter, I plugged my cell phone charger back into the outlet, only to find that it also wouldn't work (It had been working fine all day). I then tried it in each of the other outlets (back of the center console/trunk) with the same results. I figured it was a blown fuse, even though I'd never had an issue with the converter before. I look in the owner's manual to see which of the three locations held the fuse. It indicated that it was the one on the passenger end of the dash.

Once I had removed the panel, I went to the slot indicated in the manual only to find that there was no fuse at all! Of course, I double-checked the manual, and then proceeded to find the same thing with the fuses for the other two outlets. It doesn't appear like the slots are even set up for a fuse, as there's only metal on one side of the slot.

Thinking that the manual could just be wrong, I checked each and every fuse in all three panels. All looked fine. Still, none of the outlets are getting power.
