Prius (2004-09) :: How To Pop Trunk Without Turning Car Off
Is there a way to pop the trunk without turning the car off, releasing the key from holder, getting out and opening it from outside. This is probably a terribly stupid question but I've recently discovered this oddity and thought I'd ask -no matter how simple it may sound.

I've got a 2007 Prius (Touring Edition) that has almost exactly 150,000 miles now. It's had a few issues (leaking water pump, bad HID bulbs constantly...), but those were nothing I haven't been able to fix myself. Moving forward...my car is turning at least all of it's electronics on by itself.
I first noticed an issue when randomly I would come out and it would be dead. So I'd jump it, and it would do fine for a while. Over the past two weeks though, it's been happening a lot. Until 3 times now I've walked by it and the radio was loudly blasting the default station. It's powered up, A/C on, radio on loudly to a default station, and all the stations on the radio and clock are reset.
Before I get told I'm not turning it off properly...I am. I have been insanely thorough on my procedures after the first time, and I actually make sure all lights are off, radio is off (even just the power of the radio), and A/C is off BEFORE I go through the proper procedure of turning it off and then locking it with my key from the outside. I even put my key on the hanger and go out and check that it's locked and off after doing this.
Prius (2004-09) :: Knocking Sounds When Turning
Prius has taken on a new habit. When making turns at any respectable speed, there's a very noticeable knocking sound. I've had the windows rolled down and can't tell whether it's coming from the right side or the left. I'm pretty sure it's coming from the front.
I just put him up on blocks and rolled under to check out the front suspension, turning mechanism and anything else I can see. It wasn't long before I realized what I'm looking at nor am I likely to recognize any problems if I saw it. Having said that, nothing looked broken or dangling.
He's due for a 100,000 mile check-up. Since I'm heading to the dealership, it would be easy for me to have them look at it.

I understand the engine turns on and off frequently (coming to a stop it turns off, then when going it turns on). I have noticed that sometimes when at the stop it will turn off, then immediately back on, and off again, even with my foot on the break.

My 2006 Toyota Prius with 130k miles i had the 12v battery replaced 4 months ago because I had the dashboard not turning on when starting the car. I drive about 200 miles everyday for work (deliveries) so the car basically is turned on all day.
Last week when I got home turned off my prius when I turned it back on later that night the dashboard would not turn on. Tried disconnecting the 12v battery and still no dashboard. Drove around like that for two days until Friday when suddenly the dashboard turned on and everything was fine.
Later that night I turned on the prius and the dashboard didn't turn on again, shut it off and turned it back on, dashboard turned on.
Now the big issue: The ICE does not want to turn on. Vsc and abs lights with the triangle of death are on. Code reader wasn't showing any codes.
I towed the prius to my mechanic so I wouldn't get stranded with only the electric motor running, he checked the 12v battery, fuses and relays. Moving the car around on his lot they discharged the hybrid battery. At first there were still no check engine light and no codes. Now the prius is throwing the p3000 code.

My 2009 Prius headlights are turning off automatically while I'm driving. At first only one of them turned off, but sometimes both turn off.the fog lights remain on.when one goes off, its like it only goes half off. Then sometimes while the headlights are on and I used the right light the lights go completely dark. Why this might be happening?

However, our other 04 that we still have is starting to make a not so nice cracking (only way I can describe it) noise when turning the wheel while dipping into a dip. Or even while turning into our driveway before we go up it. Somewhere I heard the steering rack, which can cost over $2,000 (supposedly)

Yesterday my horn started honking when I turned the wheel. At first I thought I had brushed the horn with the heel of my hand, but then I was careful and it continued to honk when I turned. My temporary solution was to disconnect the horns until I can get it to the dealer.

I have a used 2007 Prius (my dad owns it) that I've been driving for a little over two and a half years. I can't remember exactly when it started, but my car has this issue where, if I make a turn from a stop, it cuts out a few times. Like, if I'm sitting at an intersection waiting for the light or traffic to clear and step on the gas to turn, it'll go but lurch about 3 or 4 times in the process. It scares the heck outta me because I never know if I'm going have enough speed to make the turn without causing an accident, so I wind up waiting for completely clear lanes, which annoys the drivers behind me.
It happens randomly, there's no guarantee it'll happen every time. It's more frequent when turning right. I've told my dad about all this, but when he took it for service months ago, he said they said that it was normal (sounds fishy to me). So here I am now, the problem's still there, so I tell him and he decides to get new tires for the car. Those came, but they didn't fix it.
Prius (2004-09) :: CEL Coming On And Turning Off - Getting 8 To 12 Mpg On Local Roads
I have a 2005 Prius with almost 219000 (!) on it. It runs great, but about three months ago the check engine light started coming on and turning off by itself. I had a scan done on it and they mentioned possibly a bad O2 sensor. Friday, I was on the highway and the master light (big red triangle with ! in it), the VSC, and the yellow ((!)) brake light came on. I pulled over, shut the car off and turned it back on. The master light and check engine light was still on. The VSC and yellow ((!)) light came back on a few miles down the road.
I pulled off the highway and took it to a mechanic who scanned it again and said that there were several codes that came up including a large exhaust leak.The car was running fine and I had to go to work on Saturday overnight, so I drove the car. Other than the lights, nothing seemed wrong. However, the lights would turn on and off intermittently and I was getting horrible mpg (8-12 mpg on local roads). On the way home, the car seemed to stall (clearly not a manual though). The power steering cut out and a message saying something like transmission parking brake malfunction ( I couldn't read it all because it went away).
I was only about .1 miles from home, so I shut the car off and turned it back on. Not another 50 feet and the car "stalled" again. This time, I couldn't get it to turn off or anything. I left it running and unlocked (though I took the key with me) and waled home to use a phone. I called AAA and went back to the car. I put the key fob in the keyhole and tried shutting the car off again. This time, it shut off so I turned it back on and slowly drove it home. Any thoughts?
Prius (2004-09) :: Metal Squealing When Hard Turning To The Right
So starting yesterday, I noticed that my wife's 2008 Prius with 90 k, started to have a grinding, squealing sound coming from the left front wheel when making a hard right turn. It seems worse when there is more weight in the car (2 people vs 1). It does not seem to go away if the turn in on an incline.
I took off the wheel, checked the brake pads (look great and have at least 10mm of pad on both sides), looked form foreign material within the pads or on the rotor, checked the knuckle joint and just about everything that I could look at looked fine. I didn't see any leaking from the strut (the silver strap at the top was not gold as described in the DIY visual inspection post).
I am going to have to take it in, but I am wondering what are likely causes for this? I cannot tell, but I suspect that the inside guard of the front brake is rubbing on the rotor. Could this mean wheal bearing?
Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Turning On At Low Speed / Acceleration
I have noticed that recently my engine seems to be coming on when I accelerate from a stand still even with very slow acceleration.
For example today: battery over 50%, foot off break and onto gas very gentally, 0 to 10 in about 4 seconds at about 8 mph I feel the engine kick in.
Over the last few days it has seemed like the engine has been running a lot in town or when moving slowly in heavy traffic.
If I press the ev button I can accelerate quiete aggressively before the engine will start.
Prius (2004-09) :: Squeak From Front Wheels When Turning
I drive an 06 Prius and it just started making this squeaking sound from the wheels when I steer. When I make turns you can hear the sound both ways when turning the wheel.
I took it to the dealership for the steering recall but they didn't seem to find anything. Is it just something I can lube up to make it go away or is it something more serious?

Just installed new rims. Front tires are different than the back (temporarly), could this be causing the slip light to turn on when i hit speeds past 60? (it had not done this before.)

When you turn the steering wheel, left or right, the horn honks at random stages of turn. Nothing long, just a short honk. If you stop the wheel where the honk happened, it just honks.

Recently (5-6) months my Gen II has been making some weird sound when I turn it on before the ICE starts. Also when I turn it off after the ICE shuts down. I really don't know how to describe the sound so I took some clips of it. Sort of a high pitched grind maybe? Car has 45xxx, just had the Hybrid water pumped replaced.

We are only one week in to owning our 2006 Prius! Question is why does it sound like a motor whirring sound after turning it off? It only lasts 20 to 30 seconds, just wondering if this is a normal sound?

In the past few days, our car (2006 Prius) has begun making some louder-than-normal noises while driving. I've determined that the noise appears when you turn the wheel at all to the right (note: not just making a right turn...any degree to the right past straight is enough). It seems to be constant when the car is running, but really only becomes perceptible around 30 mph. The sound is sort of like a buzzing. Maybe a grinding, but not quite. It sounds like it might be similar to this issue (2006 Engine Noise - buzzing, especially loud on highway | PriusChat), but I can't quite be sure.
