Prius (2004-09) :: 2008 - Location Of Taillight Relay?
What is the location of the taillight relay? My taillights (and all other exterior marker lights) have gone out and the display no longer dims at night. The fuse has no supply voltage. My best guess from the wiring diagram is that the taillight relay is toast. It would seem a simple operation to pull the relay and just check it. The problem is finding it. The repair manual says it is in the fuse/relay box over the drivers side front tire. However there is no relay in that box marked as taillight and all the relays are accounted for from the diagram. The car is an 08.

Does the UK gen2 Tspirit have a dimmer control for the dash panel and steering wheel lights. I can control the MFD but the speedo is to dark with head lights on in daylight hours in poor visibility.

I have an 05 4-cyl LE. The dash/cluster dimmer switch isn't working, but all the lights are on and at full blast. I removed the fuse panel cover and coin try. There was a set of wires and a plug just free floating back there (3 wires and a black clip). I could not see anything plugged into the dimmer so I figure that's there the plug goes? I can't get my chubby fingers up back there to plug it in and would like to remove the trim panel to gain access. I can't find anything out there on how to remove that panel.

I've having difficulty removing the taillights from the trunk. I'm sure it is simple but there must be a trick to do this properly. I've removed the nuts but I can't bulge the "lockwashers" per the instructions. The threaded stud is a special design and has some type of spring mechanism. I tried removing one of these a few years ago and I broke the stud. How is this done? Below are the Bentley instructions which are not useful.

94 - Taillamps Tail light assembly in luggage compartment lid, removing and installing
Removing:
-Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical components and remove ignition key.
-Remove trim for rear lid Body Interior - Repair Group 70 .
-Release the latching mechanism - arrow - and separate the connector.
-Remove bolts - arrows - .
-Remove the lock washers and the tail light housing.
Installing: Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
-If a new taillight is being installed, remove the protective foil from the gasket.
-Connect the connector.
-Insert the taillight into the body opening.
Note: When installing the taillight housing, pay attention to the gap dimensions.
-Gap dimensions of tail lamp assemblies .
-Move the taillight by hand into the correct position in the body, hold the position and then tighten the nuts.
-Tighten the nuts using 4 Nm torque.
-Coding or adaptation of the taillight is not required after installation.
-Check the rear light function, Rear light function, checking .

I have a crack in the driver side taillight in my 2003 VW passat GLX wagon. I opened the panel in the rear where the audio amplifier seems to be located. I can find 3 nuts to remove for the taillight and that seems to have loosened up the assembly. There seems to be a fourth fastening point. However, I can't find it. I got a "Bulb Out" warning but all the bulbs were working...so I go inspect all the lights on the wagon and notice the taillight is melted and falling apart on the inside! Wtf?? Ugh...!! I washed and wax my wife's 2011 RX yesterday and I spotted rust around the edge of the taillight. It looks like part of the blister already break open and the other part just start forming. The car is Canadian build in Matador red mica color. Never been in any accident and never had any paintwork. I will take it in to Lexus dealer today for my SA to take an initial look. Hatch door rust issue on 3rd gen RX ??? I'm in shock that 4 years old car started to develop rust.

So sometimes my front drivers headlight and drivers taillight decides not to work. Sometimes one will work and the other wont and other times they all will be working fine. I've checked the fuses and the bulbs and they both are fine.

I just installed a new set of OEM LED taillights on my 02' sc430 bought the kit etc but I cannot get the dash rear taillight sensor to turn off. I called the local lexus dealer thinking they might have to reset it and spoke to the lead mechanic and he said i would need to rewire the lights.
