Prius (Gen 1) :: 2001 - No Reverse / Codes P3101 And 12689
My 2001 Prius has 77K. It has done warning lights before and always been a gas cap that was not tightened or a misfire code three times since I bought it last spring. It has been driven very little when I was rear-ended and my Camry was totaled. It coughed a little when I started it, but had no problem driving the first 40 miles. I stopped for about 5 minutes to stretch. When I tried to start it to continue to work, all the warning lights came on and it died. I tightened the gas cap and restarted the car to have it die 2 more times. Third time it stayed on and I was planning on limping two blocks to AutoZone to have the codes read, when it rolled to a stop. No forward, no reverse. By the time the tow arrived, it would go forward. The codes were P3101 and 12689.

When just taking off, either forward, or reverse, there is a clicking sound, like a rock in a hubcap, but very soon, stops, actually I had the tire off the car, and turned the rotor as fast as I could, by hand, which was really slow, and the clicking was there, just for a few seconds. I thought maybe the rotor was rubbing on the dust shied, but that doesn't seem the case. When I have the window down, I can hear is slightly, not very long. When I had the tire off, I checked the cv joints, no torn rubber, no grease flying around, I pushed in/out, up/down on both ends of the shaft, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. The only thing I did notice was the strut rubber, bellow, was torn on both side, and looked like some oil was leaking, so I will have to replace both struts soon, but I don't know if that would have anything to do with the clicking sound. Like I said before it sounds like a BB in a hubcap, but in a sense that doesn't make sense, because the sound stops way before centrifical force takes over, know what I mean??

So this morning, I started the car and quickly shifted into "R". Midway out the drive, ~20 yards, the engine stopped and triangle "!". Turn off and restart, no problem and alarm light remains. At a stop light, the Graham miniscanner found P3101; cleared the code, and; it is time for the Spring oil change the throttle body cleaning.

I have an issue with my 2003 Prius. The reverse lights do not turn on when I put the vehicle in R. Checked the bulbs and they are fine. Checked all the relay (fuse) boxes and didn't find any burnt fuses.
I have a Haynes Manual and other than a circuit diagram, there is nothing that I could find about the location of the backup light relay. By the diagram I can tell that it is connected to a "HOT IN RUN or START" circuit and a 10 A fuse. Although it is useful for showing the wire routing, it doesn't tell me where it is!!
Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: V6 3.6L Will Not Go In Reverse
My 2003 V6 3.6L has decided to not go into reverse today. My driveway is on a slope and the car is a few feet from the door so it is hard to tell if it goes into drive.
Obvious thought is that the tranny is gone. I would have thought that this would show signs before doing this as everything seemed fine last night.
Anything else that you can think of that I can look at? And if you are in the Reno/Sparks area, who do you take your car to for repair.
Volvo - S80 :: 2001 - Stuck In Reverse
My 2001 S80 Volvo (91,000 miles) has a problem--when I put it in reverse, apply the gas, the car will not move. Sometimes if I shift back to park and then back to reverse, the car moves, but with a clunking sound and it feels as if the car just went over a small rock. At other times it will not move at all. I had a new transmission put in November and a week ago the car would not move out of my garage. A day later when I tried to reverse out of the garage, it did so without any noise or hesitation. The repair shop kept it again for 4 days, ran another bunch of tests and could find nothing. The car drives just fine on the road--still has great acceleration. The problem is driving me nuts--I am afraid to take it out at times as I don't know when it might not reverse. what is wrong with this car?

So I just replaced my clutch. I have a 2001 Gti vr6. It has roughly 120,000 miles and the clutch went out. I ordered a stage 1 clutch and put it in. Everything went smoothly and now I am stumped as to why I can't shift into first, third, and reverse? Second, Fourth, Fifth all work. Why this happened?

My son called me yesterday saying my 2005 Santa Fe 2.7 engine, 150,000 is having a problem.....car runs fine but when you put it into reverse it dies immediately. No check engine lights and I haven't checked for codes. I'll be getting home this afternoon.

Ford - Explorer :: 2001 - Reverse Lights Have Gone Out?
I gave my daughter the '01 sport trac as her first car... just had to do: fan and clutch, ps pump, ac compressor pulleys, a/c line, actuator...
Now the reverse lights have gone out. Bulbs and sockets appear just fine... did notice shift indicator on dash is off just a bit... it reverses just fine....
Is there a linkage adjustment or some switch that is bad?

I was driving the car down the freeway, hear a loud bang from underneath the engine, immeadiately ceased accelerating over 15 MPH and would not reverse.
As it stands now the car will start up, but not reverse, or accelerate over 15 MPH without the RPMs revving like mad. Think it might be tranny-related...

We have a 2001 Santa Fe. Very recently it began hesitating when put in gear going forward or reverse. Once the gas pedal is pressed, there's a delay of up to 2 seconds as RPM climbs, then the vehicle jerks into gear. It seems to run fine otherwise. Mileage is approx 128 k. Maintained very well by the same mechanic until very recently. Internet searches have gotten answers of use fuel additive, install some computer patch, fix an oxygen sensor, change tranny fluid and flush tranny, rebuild tranny.

So a friend of mine has a 01 Passat 1.8 T (Automatic). He is having some reverse issues. It shifts into reverse with a hard clunk then the second you touch the gas it clunks into neutral. The odd part is if you put it in reverse and stay off the gas it will idle back in reverse... But the second you touch the gas nothing. I'm finding it hard to believe the transmission is gone because every other gear is beyond smooth (I mean like brand new car smooth).

Had this thing rebuilt less than 8k by a reputable local trans builder and the reverse started to fail on me told the guy the problem and said everything is "normal". Drove it and the thing started to act up slamed out of OD and the light started to blink. Took it to the guy to get it checked and said most likely the tranny is toast the fluid does smell burnt.
Then he told me that I had two codes and that they were the cause of the tranny to fail, the codes were P1105, P1106 and that the voltage going to the solenoids was low roughly at 8.6 volts... Can the alternators have anything to do with tranny messing up? I took the to be tested and both alt are good I have a constant supply of 14.4 volts from the alternators. Can this be the pcm taking a dump?
Forgot to mention that this is a 2001 f250 platinum Edition 7.3 power stroke.
Explorer :: 2001 Ford - RPMs Drop To About 4 To 500 And It Stalls Out In Reverse Only
I own a 2001 Ford Explorer and have had the regular wear and tear but this problem has me stumped. A few months back I had to change the auto body gasket because the truck would not go into gear. After doing this the truck ran fine, I also changed the tranny fuild and filter. The other day i went to back up into the garage and the truck stalled and died out. it started right back up and it runs fine in all other gears. (P,N, D, 1,2, 4x4 high and low) and the over drive is working fine. when the truck is cool and hasn't ran in a while i can start it and the rpms stay at about 1000 th 1200 and the reverse works great. Now when the eng. heats up to normal and i put in in reverse the rpms drop to about 4 to 500 and it stalls out and dies. I have cleaned the mass air flow sensor, the throttle body, and the IAC valve but still dying out. Im thinking it may be a vaccume leak or the IAC is bad and cleaning just wont do the trick. I have also read that it may be the back up light wiring that hooks to the tranny may be shorted out.

I have 2001 ford explorer sport.. it idles very low in drive and reverse and then shuts off.. What has been replaced:
1. Torque converter
2. All new plugs n wires
3. Map or mass sensor
4. Iac valve
5. O2 sensors
6. Fuel filter
7. Air filter
8. Throttle valve/sensor
It does not run bad only when u come to a red or stop light.. Had the vacuum tested and no vacuum leaks.. also no check engine light has come on and no codes have popped up when tested..
