Prius (2001-03) :: Code P3130 - Bad Inverter Water Pump

2002 Prius with 94K gave me today P3130, after I tested the Inverter Water Pump I found out that it bad but until I go to the dealer in order to buy the part $147 he was closed. the question is can I drive with the car like this bac home (65 miles) and if I turn on the A/C the Engine will work all the time right? And also after replacing the Inverter Water Pump how can i tell if the problem solved?

Prius (Gen 1) :: 2001 Toyota Inverter Cooling Pump Fault Code P3130

I have a 2001 Toyota Prius. The inverter cooling pump was dead and I had the P3130 fault code. I replaced the pump and the refilled the fluid. After more than 4 or 5 times bleeding the system, now the pump sounds funny. It sounds like a water fall and look like it has too much air!!!! I can’t see any turbulence in the reservoir tank either.

There are 2 bleeding valves on the front side of the Inverter. Which one should be used to for bleeding the system? Both?

Does the system have any thermostat that could cause problem? Does it use the same radiator as the main one? What could cause having NO turbulence? I think the new pump will be dead too if it can’t make the turbulence.

Prius (2001-03) :: Whole Dash Lit Up - Code P3130

On my way home in stop and go traffic the whole dash lit up with about 4 miles to go. Car was running as normal so I immediately thought inverter pump so got home and checked for circulation and there was good circulation. Pulled code with my obdII scanner and code P3130 came up. Cleared codes to restart and check circulation of fluid to verify and there was NO CIRCULATION. So, went and ordered the Toyota part #G9020-47022. Is there something else I should check before just changing the pump like a relay or electrical? Is there another place to get the coolant as the dealer has it at $32 gallon which is crazy. Then, if I do end up changing out the pump which I am almost sure I will have to which is a good way to burp the system as I have read this can be an issue. Does all the fluid (parts guy says two gallons) need to be changed out or just what spills out.

Prius (2001-03) :: Codes P3130 And P0303 - Warning Lights Going On And Off

I've been having issues with my beloved 2003 with a little over 130k with warning lights going on and off. I went to O'Reilly's they gave me the codes P3130 and P0303. One of codes states "misfiring on all cylinders," they didn't have a description for the other one.

Dealership won't tell me anything about what the codes mean. The warning lights are an exclamation point inside a triangle, check engine, and what looks like a thermometer in red.

Just got the oil changed a little over a week ago, dealership said they didn't notice any problems. Warning lights came back on last Thursday and just disappeared about an hour ago.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2005 - Inverter Dead / No Error Code?

My 2005 died in the middle of the road a few days go. Was just rolling along fine then suddenly out of a stop light, the car stalled and would no longer go back into P, D, or R while the battery still seemed to be working. So had it towed to the dealership to be checked.

Ford Excursion :: 2001 - Code P1299 - Cylinder Head Overtemp Protection Active

2001 EX 4WD 6.8l ... Just finished an engine rebuild and have a single DTC showing that I am having a problem isolating. In short: P1299 Cylinder Head Overtemp Protection Active. I have new sensors all around however. I have run a separate ground to the intake manifold to rule out bad ground. I have cleaned all ground connections otherwise. After clearing codes and start from cold, the issue does not occur until the engine warms up. I was seeing temps over 250 F on my scantool.

I pulled the thermostat and ran from cold... took a lot longer, but the condition eventually occurred. Scantool shows temp of 255.2 when protection kicked in. However, the engine, radiator, intake manifold all just slightly warm to the touch, barely no heat coming through the HVAC system. So, I do believe I had a new bad thermostat in the mix, but why do I still throw a code for the high temp. Temp gauge sits at Cold the whole time. Here's the catch, if I disconnect only the air coolant temp sensor, the problem does not occur, the engine runs like a kitten.

Key On, Engine off, the coolant temp gauge goes right to Hot and stays there. When the problem first started, the coolant temp gauge started going back and forth between Cold and Hot repeatedly. I have replaced that particular sensor twice to rule out a new bad sensor. Key on, engine off; with new sensor reads 185 ECT temp. Original sensor read 318, first replacement read 257. This third sensor is the only one that actually registers changing temperatures.

Prius (2001-03) :: Code P3125 - Bad Inverter

I bought an 01 Prius with 148k miles. It had code P3125 which mean bad inverter. I replaced the inverter with one from a junk yard with 81k miles. As soon as I was done the car started right up, and I didnt get electrocuted!

Right after the car started I got codes P3115 P3001 and P 3191. I cleared them out and turned off the car for a min.

When I started the car again I got codes P3030 and P3001.

This car has an extensive service history, It has a new Cat and exhaust, a new accessory and HV traction battery that are less than 8 months old. Crank position sensor is new. fuel tank is new.

What could be causing the P3030 and the P3001?

Prius (2001-03) :: After Installation Of Inverter Now Won't Start?

I am working on my folks 2003 gen 1 prius. Dealer told them inverter was bad so I bought a used one to replace it from junk yard. I was able to drive the car on purely gas mode prior to replacing inverter. I have now replaced the inverter and innitially was able to drive it on battery power, but no gas engine, it wont start. Now no movement at all. I have reset codes both with my obd2 scanner and by the touch screen diagnostic window. Am I missing something here as I can't get the warning orange triangle to go away or check engine light, and now gas engine. When I turn key, I hear clicking sound in rear of car. Also, I left doors open when working on car and drained little battery, I replaced it with a larger battery that I have put in a battery box.

Prius (2001-03) :: Losing MPG After Inverter Pump Replacement

After the warning light & triangle went on in my 2003 Prius, it turned out the inverter pump was bad. It was replaced. Now I am steadily losing MPG as I drive the car. From before the replacement, it has gone from 42 - 44 down to 36. This is in a few days time.

After I got home, I saw that the dealer put on the service ticket that the car might need a new inverter. There was no reason stated for that, and the service rep never mentioned it. In fact, the service rep said that the hybrid system would not be damaged if I drove the car with the warning light, since the hybrid system would shut itself off before any damage would be done.

There is a small leak in the radiator but on inspection, the coolant level is full (actually, while still hot, it is overfull), so I don't think that is the problem, at least not yet.

Prius (2001-03) :: 2002 - Gas Mileage - Replacing Coolant And Inverter

I read in the owners manual that the engine antifreeze should be an ethylene glycol type. I believe that Prestone makes this type of coolant in a 50/50 mix. Is that correct? Also, what type of coolant does the inverter use? I want to try and stay away from buying it at a dealer. Also, my gen 1 has 117,000 miles and I must admit that I have been slacking with the maintenance. My gas mileage is down to 40/mpg compared to 48-49mpg when I got the car two years back with 40k. I am pretty sure the original auxillary batter is still in it, so I order a new one today. I also plan an changing the transaxle fluid, PCV valve, air filter, and cabin filter. The plugs where changed at 80,000 miles. Where can I order a gasket for the transaxle pan? I intend on dropping it and cleaning it out. Do you think this will get the gas milage back up?

Prius (2001-03) :: 2002 - P3125 Sub Code 325 With No Start / Inverter Failing

Pulling into parking lot and the triangle and exclamation light appear on dash. Drive about an additional hundred feet with what felt like lower power and no noises.

- Check 12V after about an hour and it reads 12.4 volts.
- Read codes and get P3125 sub code 325.
- Temperatures and HV battery numbers all looked good.
- Clear codes and immediately code comes back with no start, nothing. Did this many times.

This code and sub code lead to the inverter failing. Being that there was no noise as a MG2 stator failure this also leads to an inverter failure right as the MG1 motor starts the engine? Inverter pump still running good as it was recently replaced along with ATX fluid. Within the last two weeks two HV modules have been replaced.

Prius (2001-03) :: P3100, P3125 Error Code Came On

My Wife was driving our 2001 Prius and got the big triangle and the car went into limp mode.

The Codes were P3100 (info code 196) and P3125 (info code 325)

P3100/196 = Internal Error - Generator CPU Malfunction

3125/325 - Inverter Internal Short. - Generator Inverter Fin - Inverter Internal short

Clear the codes and the car runs fine, but the problem will eventually resurface.

The dealer wanted tor replace both the converter/inverter and HV ECU.

I purchased replacement converter/inverter from Ebay and inverter coolant pump (new) and installed.

Problem eventually resurfaced. I purchased replacement HV ECU from ebay and installed.

Engine would not start (does not attempt to even turn over), but was not throwing any codes. I had this same symptom with a third HV ECU as well. The part numbers on the HV ECU were exact matches.

I successfully replaced the HV battery on my own and it was so easy even this girl to do it! I drove the car about 300 miles when I got the triangle of death warning light again yesterday. I took my 2002 Prius to the dealer to read the codes but how to borrow a scanner (or whatever) from Autozone and do it myself.

Prius (2001-03) :: Way To Diagnose P3009 Error Code Source

The first step is to clear the P3009 trouble code by unhooking the 12V battery for a moment or using a code reader. Now turn the key on/ but NOT start/ready mode, wait 30 seconds and if the code comes back, the leak is in the battery case. If the code does not return, turn key to start to "ready mode" and immediately shift to neutral and stay this mode for 30 seconds. If the code returns, the leak is in the power cables or inverter. If the code did not set, shift to drive and if the code appears now (can take up to a minute or so), the leak is in the transaxle. This is something that can be done in a few minutes without a scan tool or "megger" while never removing any components and not leaving the driver seat.​

Ideally you want 3009 in battery case. That might be fixable without buying anything, just take apart battery and clean bus bars etc. If your bus bars are really "gooey", new ones are available from the dealer for a couple hundred bucks. Inverter is harder to replace, transaxle is the hardest.
