My exhaust system warning light came on this afternoon. Think the cars needs to be parked until I can get it to the dealer.

Yesterday my light went on for the exhaust warning. Does this mean I should now drive with a window open? And how serious can it be? Also, about 2 months ago I was told I need a serpentine belt. Would this have anything to do with the light coming on? You see, last time I wrote in here, I was told I needed new front brake pads and rotors. I was told from folks here that the dealer's quote was 2X what it should be, so I am hesitating to go back to same dealer.

Unfortunately the above message flashed up on my dashboard last night, and it has re-appeared first thing this morning. The first thing it switched off was my air con, also I notice that the battery meter now barely gets above 12, prior to this message it would go up to just under 14 once the engine had started. I have a 2004 3.2 v6 and, as a preventative measure, I had a new battery fitted about 4 months ago.

Exhaust systems warning symbol that comes on if there is a Exhaust system problem. Yesterday when headed to lunch the warning symbol came on and it startled me as its a picture of an engine block. It was a solid symbol vs flashing. The Phaeton seems to be running well and the book does say get it in to be checked.

The past few weeks the dashboard warning light for my alternator/battery will occasionally light up while driving down the road. Whenever it does, my plug in voltage meter shows a healthy 14.x reading. It usually goes out after a few seconds, but will stay lit up for as much as thirty seconds. So other than voltage being too high or too low, what else will cause the dash trouble light to illuminate?

Got flagged by a fellow driver, and told both tail lights were out; I had no dashboard warning light. Headlights were on, blinkers worked, brake lights worked. This is a small deal, but I was surprised; is there really no warning for this (2006 mid-package), or is something else the matter?

Flickering low beam lights for several weeks and I decided to change both bulbs, pretty straight forward job, some 30 minutes for each side but when I went for a drive I noticed that ESP warning light on all the time, looked in the manual, tried to turn it on / off, no change. This morning I woke up to my car covered in ash (due to all the wildfires in the area I live...Idaho) and my exhaust warning light came on. It is steady yellow. Not flashing. I have a 2007 Toyota Camry with electrical problems that started showing up recently. One day the check battery light turned on and about 15 minutes later the AC would lose power intermittently. After parking the vehicle that day I tried to start up and only heard a rapid clicking sound. I exchanged the battery since it was still under warranty and everything seemed to work fine for one whole day. The next day the battery light turned on again, followed by the ABS warning light, and then the airbag warning light. Within about 5 minutes the dashboard back light started flickering and other warning lights started lighting up randomly. Within a minute of that the car shutoff and would not start back up again.

I have had my Phaeton for 5 years, and every time I start it, the Depress Foot Brake light (amber) next to the R on gear shift always flashed. I assumed it did to tell me to press on the brake to shift gear. Well, two days ago I could not get my car started. Had to get a tow to VW dealer (48 miles) because a jump start did not work. After I checked in with ticket writer, he went to my car and (yeah, guess what?) inserted the key and started it. He called me out to the delivery spot to show me the light. He said it is not supposed to flash, but comes on steady. Bottom line is, I drove it home with no charge to me (except for tow job), and today I went out and again it would not start.
It was too late to get it towed. I was told by ticket writer that perhaps I had something slip down into the gear area, which might interfere with a sensor. Is there something else I should look for? By the way, a true confession, the night before the first trouble, I was curious and inserted my key into the flashlight hole to check on its depth to see if it does charge the flashlight, and when doing so, it caused a spark (I know, that was STUPID!). Could this have caused my starting problems? When I insert key to start, I get the message Move Gear Shift to P/N position.
Phaeton :: Light Bulb Failure Warning
Why my Phaeton cannot tell me which lightbulb has failed when Mrs AG's Audi A4, which is older, can? It just says check light and more often than not, goes off again after a couple of days as in the latest episode. Am I missing something, or is that just the way it is? I do not have a VCDS.
