Passat (B7) :: 2012 - Acceleration A Bit Slow On Takeoff
I recently picked up a 2012 Passat. I love it. Comfortable ride compared to my Volvo, looks amazing from the outside and, well, its a VW - always loved them.
So, my only question is about the acceleration. It tends to be a bit slow on takeoff. Its hard to explain, really, but it creeps a bit and then I find that I need to push relatively hard to get the RPMs up to get the car to accelerate. Ive never had this type of issue in a car before so I thought I would ask to see if this is normal. At first I thought it was maybe a gas saving feature. When I use Sport Mode or Sports Shift it accelerates fine with no issue.
Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Acceleration Is Very Slow At Times
I recently bought a 2002 VW Passat 2 weeks ago. I love the car and the drive, but the acceleration is excellent at times, and very slow at times. Also the car gives me a stutter step every once in a while while at low speeds....I bought the car in Mass so I have 13 days left for the dealer warranty. What it is?
View 3 RepliesPassat (B6) :: Transmission - Rough Shifting Between 3 To 4 Gear Sometimes Usually On Slow Acceleration
I have a 2007 Passat wagon 4 motion V6 and what the problem is I am getting a rough shift between 3-4 gear sometimes, usually on a slow acceleration. I have had the valve body replaced which worked for a couple of months until the problem returned. I then had the transmission replaced which worked a little but the rough shifting is still present at times. The car still has warranty and not even the dealership knows what to do?
View 12 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 2003 - White Smoke On Acceleration After Replacement Of Broken Oil Pan?
I recently broke the oil pan, my husband replaced it after about a month of waiting for new one to come. (Im afraid I didnt turn the car off in time and did something to the engine.) All was good after fixing it until after about a week of driving it i noticed some white smoke coming from tailpipe as i was accelerating to get on the highway. Drove it home and no smoke, drove it some more and NO smoke as getting on the highway! But then again a few days later it did it again!!! The car runs good no loss of fluids, no milky oil(not the head gasket) I would never know anything was wrong if I didnt have to get on the highway to go to town and see the smoke. I have been racking my brain on this computer trying to figure out what could be wrong? Someone followed me and said they smelled raw fuel from the exhaust smoke. But i dont know if its its an injector, I think its from breaking the oil pan??? But i dont know ???? Its a 2003 vw passat 1.8t 67,500 miles just bought the car so dont know much about the history. Seemed to be taken well care of so I dont know.
View 10 RepliesCivic - Honda :: Engine Swap / Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement?
I had an engine swap recently done on a 2005 Honda Civic, and within a couple days, Check Engine light came on. Mechanic ran the error code and I have to apparently replace the camshaft position sensor. They are claiming that the sensor was not replaced in the engine swap, and so not covered by any warranty.
View 10 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Sluggish On Initial Acceleration And Very Slight Backfire - Camshaft Hall Sensor Loose
I had been driving around for a few days and the car had been feeling a bit sluggish on initial acceleration and there was also a very slight backfire.
Just seemed to have lost some crispness. No fault codes thrown with VAGCOM.
Found one of the Camshaft Hall Sensors loose. I have had this before with the exhaust cam sensor but this time it was the inlet one. The bolt just comes a bit loose and the sensor can swivel around very slightly if you move it with your hand.
It seems to be enough to upset the the performance but not enough to throw any codes - after all it is still working perfectly sending a signal as far as VAGCOM is concerned.
Just need to nip it up again with an M5 Allen key and you are golden. One with a ball end makes it easier to get to. Just regained about 20 HP
Pic for information ....
Yaris/Scion & Vitz :: Check Engine Light On - Camshaft Timing Control Valve Replacement
I purchased a build Dec 05 1.3l Yaris several months ago. I recently started to get a check engine light, so I did a scan of the computer and it returned a P0012 error. Though multiple searches, I learned that this is likely due to the Camshaft Timing Control Valve Assembly or possibly the OCV filter.
Further searches haven't been able to reveal which parts I need to purchase to replace these items. I can only find details for the 1.5l engine.
The engine is: 2nz-fe, model: ncp90r-agmrkq
1. I don't even know where these parts are located on the car?
2. What part numbers do I need to purchase to replace?
Passat (B6) :: A/C Slow To Blow Cool Air At Slow Speed Or Come To A Stop
My wife's car is a 2006 2.0T Passat. It has been very slow to blow cool air on starting. Once you are moving at highway speeds it cools fine, but then blows hot air when you slow or come to a stop.
I have taken the car to a mechanic who purged and refilled the coolant. This did not fix the problem. Upon checking with the mechanic, we noticed that both the primary and aux. cooling fans start and stop at the same time, and only would come on when I would rev the engine up some (around 2000 rpm).
I have talked with this mechanic and one more. Both are certified master mechanics, but neither specializes in VW. They believe it may be the high pressure side switch or the compressor itself.
Passat (B5) :: Camshaft Seal Leaking - Burning Oil Smell In Car
My 2002 1.8 t has a leaky camshaft seal. The shop where I take the care insists that I should take care of it since it can cause some damage to other components. Another very trusted mechanic has told me that it is only a nuisance and the worst thing that can happen is that I would occasionally smell some burning oil inside the car when the HVAC is not in recirculating model. He also suggests using some engine cleaner and degreaser and that would take care of the problem. I think the seal leaks less than a teaspoon a year. The engine uses ZERO oil in between changes.

I didn't have the money to start dumping into the car so I am stuck in limbo.

View 11 RepliesPrius (Gen 2) :: Slow Acceleration When Speeding Up To Get On The Highway
I'm a new 2007 Prius owner, and I know that the Prius is no sports car, but this acceleration is very slow. When I'm speeding up to get on the highway, it really sounds like the gasoline engine is working hard to get up to that speed. I've had cars in the past where the emergency brake gets stuck, can that be a probable cause, or is this type of slow, strenuous acceleration normal for the little Prius?
View 11 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Low Torque And Slow Acceleration On Take Off
It's a hot 110 degree day in my 08, we have 5 in the family. Parked for three hours and on return starts up normally. Noticed low torque and slow acceleration on take off. Got on the freeway and slowly got up to 65MPH with obviously only the ICE working.
View 1 RepliesElantra XD (2001-06) :: 2004 - Acceleration Is Slow
Girlfriend just bought a used Elantra. She told me about an issue shes been having with the car and how it feels as though its towing a trailer. I drove it for a day and noticed a few things. Vehicle has 110,000 miles
1. No CEL
2. Tranny seems to NOT be slipping (Revs climb just as slow as Speed)
3. Car feels VERY heavy at times. Especially on a start up-hill
4. No sputtering/misfires
5. Shifts up and down smooth
What I've tried so far:
1. Replaced Spark Plugs
2. Sea-Foam
3. Cleaned MAF/Checked Airfilter
4. Removed and Inspected BOTH Catalytic Converters and both seem to be intact. *plan on doing a back-pressure test as soon as I get the gauge from my buddy*
5. Checked timing marks
I put 1/4 can of seafoam in crank case and plan on letting it "run-in" for 25 miles or so. I plan on doing an oil change tonight as well as make sure the brakes are not hanging up (I should have checked this first, thinking back...but hind-sight is always 20/20 ) .
Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Slow Acceleration And Decreased MPG

View 6 RepliesTiguan :: 2010 - Slow Response - Lag In Acceleration
I have a 4motion Automatic Tiguan 2011. It always had a tiny acceleration lag which I believe is quite normal. But lately, our Tiguan developed a that-doesn't-sound-right symptom. I feel the acceleration gap is much longer now, the engine makes quite a bit of noise but the car hesitates to go, and it gets a bit worse on uphills. It had a transfer box leak that was fixed 3-4 months ago.
It sounds like a transmission problem to me. Is there something wrong with the power train?
Toyota - Prius :: Slow Acceleration / Gas Mileage Down
My 2010 Prius since new, during cold Central IL weather, when I pull out onto the city street, it accelerates VERY SLOWLY no matter how I work the accelerator for 1-2 blocks. Then it takes off normally. When I forget to allow the extra time, it can be scary to have a car coming up fast and not be able to accelerate. I have left it at the dealership for 3 overnights now over 3 years. They went from "couldn't duplicate" to "there is a slight hesitation" that they attribute to normal shift from electric to gasoline. The next morning it took 2 blocks before it kicked in. My gas mileage has only been 35 this winter; I don't believe it has ever been consistently that low.
View 2 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Shuddering On Slow Acceleration
I have a 2010 Prius Pkg 5 with around 71xxx miles. I usually drive it like a regular car on eco mode and get around 38mpg average but recently I've changed my style of driving where I accelerate to the desired speed limit, let go of the gas, then reapply and keep the mpg meter in between the middle eco line and before the pwr band. I've been able to average 44mpg this way, which is great!
However, what I've begin to notice now is that say if I'm traveling at say around 45mph and let go of the gas and re-apply, the engine starts to shudder as if it's not getting enough gas. Why this is happening? I also need new tires (215/45/17) but that doesn't have anything to do with this. I've owned this car since 30xxx miles and haven't done anything other than put gas and change the oil at the dealerships. Could putting 87 octane gas with up to10% ethanol have any effect on this?
Camry :: 2011 Toyota LE - Acceleration During Slow Braking
I have Toyota Camry 2011 4-dr LE. While I was on a road trip recently, the car did something very odd. The vehicle started to cut out and it then stopped. I have to note that it was at a high altitude (somewhere in the Colorado Mountains). After the incident I was able to start up again and the vehicle operated as expected. This is not the problem I wanted to ask about, however I thought I would mention it in case you think it might be related.
Here is the problem I have: When coming to a slow stop or driving in the slow traffic, sometimes the vehicle seems to accelerate when the break is released, as if I have pressed the gas pedal. I would expect that once slowed down the Camry will maintain its speed. Other times while my foot is still on the brake pedal (lightly pressing it during a slow down) I would feel as if I have released the brake for a second and the car accelerates (at which time my reflexes kick in and I press the pedal harder). In addition, the transmission seems to hesitate on up shift. I have noticed multiple times that the transmission does not shift on-time and I could feel it when I drive slower.
So here is my question: Could the problem with acceleration during braking be also related to transmission down/up shift problems? Since the problem with brake malfunctioning and engine acceleration is very infrequent, when I took the car to the dealer they could not find anything wrong.
