Passat - Volkswagen :: 2001 - Engine Overheating / Fluid Leaking

Another month and another problem to be resolved. Here goes: The 2001 Passat 1.8T has had a hard life in the past year. The specifics are listed in previous posts. Most recently, the radiator was replaced because the engine was overheating again. The car has been leaking fluid ever since but it is not radiator fluid. Yesterday, I took a look at the oil and found tan gunk mixed in with the oil. I must admit that I had concerns after the fact about the shop that did the last oil change. Is it possible for mechanic to screw up the head gasket while replacing the radiator? It was fine before the repair. Is there another source to look for the seepage into the oil? Basically, the question is - Is the car destined for the graveyard because of this?

Passat (B6) :: Oil Still Leaking From Housing?

I had an engine oil leak, took it to dealer and was told filter housing is broken, I bought a new housing (part#06D115408B) replaced it but the oil is still leaking from the housing. I feel like it might be the part where the housing fits in the engine.

Also whenever I buy filter it comes with a gasket and an o-ring. I only replace the gasket in the housing and have never used the o-ring. Is the leak because of that? if the o-ring should be used, where does it go?

I just changed the oil in the 04 GLS. It looks like the intercooler is leaking at the bottom hose. It does leave marks on the garage floor. Also I may have rear main seal leak too.

The car has 45K on it

Passat (B5) :: 2000 - Can't Find From Where Oil Is Leaking?

I have a 1.8T 2000 Passat (ATW) that has an oil leak. I can't find the leak but it seems to be under the intake. It's a kind of slow leak and more annoying than anything. I replaced the valve cover gasket a couple of years but it was leaking at the back of the engine instead of the side. It may be the valve cover gasket again.

Passat (B5) :: Leaking Coolant Hose?

How to identify this 'leaking' coolant hose? (cooler hose?), I took a picture with my cell ... It shows a stainless steel coolant line with calcified Dried/heater coolant residue on the outside, and I noticed it was leaking coolant (using a periscope mirror )...

Passat (B5) :: Turbo Is Leaking - Getting Louder?

My turbo is leaking a bit and i cant tell whats up with it.. The feed lines look good but idk I just took a quick glance between classes today... what kind of mileage life does the stock turbo have?? i have 134k on it...and it seems to build boost fine but it wine of the turbo is getting louder by the day....time for a new one??? is the k04 ok...i just want a little more umph... I don't want to get crazy does the k04 bolt strait up??? and i found a dealer that does custom manifolds [URL] ....

Yes I have heard that the gt28rs...and like turbos....but i have looked at the dyno sheets and i want low-end torque...i drive mostly free way so shifting in city traffic is a nonissue...but i just been glancing at post so I am probably mistaken... is it a good idea to replace the entire system at once...(turbo, downpipe, exhaust, dv and intercooler, and piping)...and then in turn have to get a new ecu... I am kinda strapped for cash... i have never done this stuff and i searched and read up that i should do all of it but i wanted a first person conversation about it... fyi...timing belt and valves and head went over (always ask if the timing belt has been changed. my first used car dealer experience) and clutch are brand new less that 1000 miles ...

Passat (B6) :: Temp Sensor Is Leaking?

I got a set of new alloy's for my value edition, but one of the TPMS sensors will not seal correctly and is leaking. So, what to do. If I took the sensor out of the spare to use in place of the sensor that we can't get to seal, and just put a normal valve stem in the spare if the TPMS would freak out? I thought that I read that the wheels have to be rotating for the sensors to communicate with the car. Or, maybe this problem sensor would seal in the steel rim of the spare.

Anyway, I just want to get these new wheels on the car! It looks awful with 3 alloys and one steel wheel right now!

Passat (B6) :: Oil Filter House Leaking?

Here's my situation: I was driving back from a conference last Sunday afternoon with 4 passengers in 85 degree weather. After about 5 minutes on the road, I noticed that the A/C stopped working and the vent wouldn't increase in speed under any fan setting. 30 minutes later, I hit stop-and-go traffic (with more stop than go) and the Service Engine Soon light came on. The engine was laboring just as we got out of the gridlock. The last 7 miles were smooth and at 45mph. After the car cooled, I checked the oil and engine coolant--both were fine. The fan worked again as well, now responding to each fan setting. And the Service light went off. And this is where my knowledge of cars abruptly stops--if it's not the oil or coolant, what is it? More importantly, is it safe to drive 150 miles on Friday to get to my home dealership?

Passat (B5) :: Oil Is Leaking From Manual Transmission Gear

I am loosing gear oil through an odd place . There appears to have been a rubber boot or cover over this area that got cooked by a hot exhaust (whole other story there). This is left (passenger side) just above where the axle enters the gearbox. Not sure what this is and how I can resolve the issue. I have temporarily used silicone to stop the flow and have topped off the gear oil, but am still leaking a little. I have already done some damage to the bearings I fear, as the tranny really whines when I get up into 4th and 5th.

Passat (B6) :: Can't Find The Source Of Leaking Fluid

Fluid coming from my 2006 2.0T Passat:

- Oily feel, pink color (transmission fluid)

- Noticed coming from the middle, or perhaps the front part of the engine compartment, just off center on the drivers side

- Only seen after the car sits overnight, in my garage (no dripping seen for hours after parking)

- Leaves a 10in diameter sized slick on the garage floor that I wipe up with a paper towel in the morning

Suspecting a transmission fluid leak, I paid my dealer a visit and was told, "must be another car leaking, because all your fluids are topped off, your cooling system is holding pressure and your engine compartment is clean."

Passat (B6) :: Windshield Washer Fluid Is Leaking?

Recently the dash display indicated that I needed to add washer fluid. I was surprised that it would be low since I rarely use it and had not done so lately.

Yesterday I added water to the bottle and heard a trickling noise as I was doing so. To my surprise the water was leaking out below the car! The bottle remains empty.
