Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Getting Code P0171?
I just purchased my 2006 Passat 2.0T FSI and she just broke 100,000 miles.
So yesterday my car popped the P0171 code, STOP Low Coolant light flashing, and Tire pressure very low, so today i will be removing my cold air intake and forge diverter valve adapter and bring her to the dealer for warrenty work. I will keep this thread updated with whats wrong with her.
Tire Pressure Low: all tires looked fine.
Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Code P2101 / EPC And TRAC Lights On
At any rate, Scan at the store brought up P2101 throttle actuator control motor circuit range/performance. Car has been stalling occasionally while idling. EPC and trac control lights will come one. Including an exclamation point in the cruise control area. Restart and drive and the lights will go off and it will act normal. It is, however, starting to becoming a regular thing.
I have had the TB calibrated several times when the coil recall was done because it was giving a similar code. Apparently, they didn't set them when the car was warm and they would "pop up" when I got to temp. Haven't had this problem for several months and it never stalled before.
I'm hoping this isn't as bad as I have read about the TB, but I'm guessing it needs replaced.
Passat (B6) :: 2006 - CEL Coming On And Off After Fueling / Code P2293
Well my car is listed above it has 99 k on it now.. For the last few months the check engine light had been coming on and off.. It usually happened after I put gas so I figured it was the gas cap... Till yesterday I had it scanned at auto zone and gave me the code listed above... Don't know how to go about it.. I've searched some and found that it could be a cam sensor of some sort or a follower ( spelling) ... Is it a easy fix .. Like I said light goes off and on.. Doesn't stay on always.

I get this code, p171, every so often on my corolla. I have cleaned the MAF and finally changed it with one bought at AutoZone. I still get the code. What should I do next?
View 4 RepliesPassat (B6) :: What Does The Code P2243 Mean
Well this car is getting ridiculous. i just got it back from the dealership 3 weeks ago from having them fix the car when the check engine light came on because some pressure valve that is supposedly in each cylinder or something was bad.
Well now, its on again. I took it to autozone but when the guy put his scanner on there, nothing came up. So when I started the car as the scanner was plugged in, he said it gave him the code P2243. He did not know what the code was. The engine light is now off and the guy did not clear the code. The car still rides normal.
Passat (B6) :: 2.0T - MIL With Code P0441
My 2.0t threw a MIL with code P0441 about 24 hours after having the timing and all replaced. I replaced the N80 valve last week, but this did not make the light turn off.
I also have a hard time starting after filling up. What this might be?
Passat (B5) :: CEL On / Gas Cap Code Keeps Coming Up
Dealer says the "gas cap" code keeps coming up. Won't share the number with me.... I've tried two new OEM gas caps, fuel & air filter replacement. I keep paying to get it reset. It keeps coming back on. Clueless VW mechanics... What else it might be?
View 3 RepliesPassat (B6) :: HID Pointing Too Low - Getting Code For ABS
I have finally installed HID, but I tend to think they pointed too low, or it is just my imagination. Need to change the level after installing HID? Second and most important Question, the thing is that after removing the + from Battery, I have reset the settings now car shows trouble codes for g85 I guess the steering column. That it is not calibrated right, the code applies for ABS and 44-Steering Assist, I might have messed up the options, but I strongly believe it might be fixed without dealership. When the car starts it shows, ESP off and steering column yellow all the time.
View 6 RepliesPassat (B5) :: CEL Is On - Code P0299
The 1.8 passat turbo has 60k miles on it.
CEL is on, shop says it is code P0299 (I have read this code being called the "underboost" code). Local shop also wanted $1500++ to put on a new turbo. Car is driving and responding just fine.
I have searched high and low and can't find definitive answers to these questions.
I have read some posts indicating that replacing the Waste Gate Valve has improved performance and turned off the CEL. Can you replace this valve on the 1.8 without replacing the whole turbo?
Where is this valve in the engine compartment? Can I just clean it? CEL code 0299, car behaving normally, shop telling you that your need to replace the turbo?

View 1 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Code P0497 Came On
I have a 2007 hyundai accent 1.6 l gls, recently got a code p0496 and installed a purge valve and 4 days later got a code p0497 (evap emission sys. Low purge flow). Would it be better for me to take my car to an emission shop where it can be diagnosed since i do not want to take to dealership cause the cost would be very high. I want to diagnose it with some machine that will pinpoint the main problem without me replacing parts just to find out that maybe the part i thought was bad did not need to be replaced.

My 2006 Camry V6 had the code P0420 before. I replaced 2 downstream O2. Now it throws code P0136. What should the next step I am looking for here? Is it a CAT issue?
If I need to replace CAT, do they have custom (modify) CAT to improve the performance?
Passat (B5) :: Car Has Misfire And Code On The Cylinder
I am having a misfire code on the #1 cylinder. Its not bad but I really want to nip it in the butt before it goes out completely. I was told to try and get some of the older style coilpacks that bolt on and go with them. Can I put them on my 03 passat 1.8t.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: P0420 Malfunction Code
While on business travel, my wife's 2003 1.8T Passat wagon had the MIL illuminate. I had her pull the OBD2 code while I was away, and it came up with P0420. I have been reading up on it, but I have found much in the way of troubleshooting this code. I don't want to just start randomly replacing parts until the light goes away. When I get back I am going to look for exhaust leaks, but barring those what else can be looked for.

View 1 RepliesPassat (B6) :: 2008 2.0T CEL With Code P0171
Car was purchased new and has been great (O2 sensor was replaced a few years ago and something to do with breather valves due to it making a high pitched scream when the turbo wasn't trying to kick in) for the past 80K miles. Got a Check Engine Light yesterday and took it to Autozone to have them pull the codes (I was really hoping it was the "Hey idiot, time for your 80k maintenance") and they found a P0170 Bank 1 Cylinder 1 Too Lean (by their version of reading it at least). Probable causes: MAF, Vacuum or O2 Sensor.
Nothing that seems immediately life threatening so off to work in the morning. I noticed that it was running a little rough at idle and at speed when coming off the gas. Plus it did the old 2 or 3 extra turns after shutting it off.
The Probable causes line up with what I'm reading so I'm planning to pull and clean the MAF sensor when I get home tonight. Next up is probably replacing O2 sensors from what I gather. Although If i have time tonight I may pull the airbox(?)/Engine cover off and eyeball every hose I can lay eyes on as well as the Air Filter, etc.
What am I missing? Does the rough running and running a second or 2 after shutting it off add anything to the potential diagnosis?
