Passat (B5) :: 2002 1.8t - Car Has Weird Whistle Noise
I was noticing today when i started my car that it was making a whistle noise. So naturally i popped the hood to find the source of the noise. It is from this hose that connects to my header it has this crack in it and it is sucking air in. My question is what is the name of this hose, and what does it do?

So when the car is idling(warmed up) I suddenly have a random popping noise coming from the front passenger side of the car. It is about 9 pops evenly spaced about every 1/2 second and then it stops. This is all while not moving....Like when sitting at a light. Then about 5 minutes later it will do it again. It seems its becoming more & more frequent.

I have a Passat 1.8t b5.5 with 150hp
Some months ago I chipped it and it drives very good and I also changed the diverter valve to a 710N.
But now it is fast, but sometimes it just feels like it doesn't hold boost as it should. and I hear a very loud psss sound just like a BOV when I shift. Could it be the 710N which has been broken? Or is it a vacuum line to the DV that has a leak?
Passat (B5) :: 2002 - Leak In Turbo / Weird Siren Like Noise
Turbo leaking? Is it costly to fix? I have a 2002 Passat, V-4 engine. I just took it in to get my oil changed and the mechanic told me that there's turbo leak. I have also been experiencing a weird siren like noise when I drive and the car feels like it's struggling whenever I go over 40 mph and or driving up a steep hill.

Last night I noticed a weird sound coming from the left side (alternator side) of my engine. Took a video.... I have already done my timing belt replacement about 10k miles ago. Oil is full, no leaks. Have the pcv block so it has a slight putting sound (as stated from their install manual). You can hear an inconsistent hollow growling sound that happens at idle but also under revs. Didn't notice the sound this morning but a lot last night.

Passat (B6) :: Weird Rolling Noise Coming From The Front Driver Side
Last night on our way home I was on the highway and we get into slow moving traffic around 25-30 MPH I get to heard this tap tap tap tap noise. which was going away when accelerating or braking.. and coming back when leaving the car rolling by itself... I did a bunch of recordings but this is the one you can heard the best... noise actually changes with speed and when turning, but again it goes away if I touch the brakes or the gas...
Noise appears to come from the front driver side.

Subaru - Forester :: 2006 - Weird Noise In Engine
I have a 2006 Subaru Forester with a little over 119,000 miles.
For the past several weeks, maybe a month, it has been making a weird noise... it comes from the 'engine' area... my husband thinks it might be a belt or something. Sometimes there is a burning smell, especially if we're on a long trip, going uphill... but the smell isn't always.
The sound sounds like... a remote control car that you push with your hands, instead of using the remote control. So it's kind of like a winding/whining sound... the sound happens when it is in park, and drive, whether I'm driving or at a stop.
Golf IV R32 :: Weird Ticking Noise From The Belt Side Of Engine
So, there is a weird ticking that is coming from the belt side of my engine. The speed of the ticking varies(increases) with the speed of the engine. It isn't as fast as a valve knock so I cant figure it out. thoughts?

I recently installed my 3" GHL exhaust along with my stage 1 BFI dogbone and I recently noticed a very faint rattle when I am engine braking. I can only hear it when there's no cars around or when its quite. but i cant figure it out. (I still have the stock exhaust heat shield in from the cat back so I am not ruling that out as a possibility).

I've had this weird noise coming from the driver side front (i'm guessing inside the engine bay) for the past month now. It started ever since hitting a bad pothole that wasn't avoidable and couldn't see very well during one of the nasty winter storms we got here in PA. Ever since the steering has felt off, like just not all there anymore. Over the smallest of bumps it makes this noise. Extremely aggravating for me since I try to take great care of the car and keep everything tight and new feeling. Since I don't know how to work on newer cars (only mk3 and lower) I have no clue what to do to check... I've had it at the dealership a few times to report the noise, 2 of the times they just took it for a drive around the area and back and each time the tech said he didn't hear a noise (of course).
Roughly 15k miles on the car currently
Noise started around 12-13k
Also recently noticed that only coming from the same side, the shock over big bumps makes squishy noises, as if it were blown or something...
People have suggested that it could be the sway bar, tie rods, end links, bushings, anything. I personally think it's the strut tower bushing or bearing, but again, I'm not much of a newer car mechanic.

Passat (B5) :: 1999 - Weird Honking Sound From Under Hood
I have a 99 passat variant with the 1.8T. I recently put in an Evo intake, forge dv(reversed), denso iridiums and an upsolute chip and ever since I put the intake in I hear a honking air sound from under the hood. I only hear it for a little bit when I reach a certain point on the gas pedal then it goes away until I reach that point again under throttle. It's like a really low car horn sound. I know it can't be normal for my mods but it started ever since I put in my intake. It's just annoying. Can it be a leak in the intercooler hose or a vacuum leak. I can't figure it out I looked under the car and the intercooler hoses seem fine.

I have an 07 Passat 2.0T with 48,000+ on it. I tend to overthink any little sound my car makes that doesn't seem normal and this one has me perplexed. When I am driving at low speeds, windows down, I hear what amounts to a "psst" sound come from my front shocks only. I understand I have gas shocks on the front but it doesn't seem like any other car makes this sound.
The ride is comfortable and the sound does not seem to affect the suspension feel. Is this a normal sound? Do you think there is an issue with the shocks? I have been searching high and low for someone with a passat that has written about this sound from the shocks.
Lexus :: Weird Noise Inside Cab
About a month ago I'm getting in my car, start it, turn on the a/c and as soon as I put it in drive and start to move I hear this strange noise all of a sudden. It's happened a few times now since then usually will be at least a week in between before it makes the noise again. What I have gathered is it can only be heard inside the cab, so it's not under the hood and when you turn the a/c off it shuts off so has something to do with that. Sounds kind of like a fan and I've included a video even though it's dark I follow the sound and it appears to come from the passenger side of the center console. Exactly what it is?

Firstly having this wired noise underneath the trunk of my car I found out stabilizer links were bad so I changed it some of the Klad Klad noise were gone but still persists then I thought it's maybe spare tire is loose it wasn't then checked the jack it's fine. It comes in very slow speed as if something is hitting ( plastic) on to chassis the rubber mounts are good not dried or cracked I went under the car millions of time in vain.

Just bought a new 2011 GTI last week, now I'm hearing a weird noise when I accelerate in first or in reverse. It just sounds like something is loose in the engine bay. I don't know if it's the wastegate sound that occurs on all TSI's or if it's something else. It's basically like the sound of a vibration but without the feeling of a vibration.

I recently replaced my factory struts with KYB's all in one solution. I also did the craft felt mod that HardTop suggested. Ever since they have been replaced I'm getting a weird noise. When I turn the steering wheel in either direction it makes a rubbing sound that is very audible. The vehicle drives fine, and the struts ride really well. However, the noise is a touch annoying.
