Passat (B5) :: 2002 / 1.8t - Whistle Noise On Start
I was noticing today when i started my car that it was making a whistle noise. So naturally i popped the hood to find the source of the noise. It is from this hose that connects to my header it has this crack in it and it is sucking air in.

Turbo leaking? Is it costly to fix? I have a 2002 Passat, V-4 engine. I just took it in to get my oil changed and the mechanic told me that there's turbo leak. I have also been experiencing a weird siren like noise when I drive and the car feels like it's struggling whenever I go over 40 mph and or driving up a steep hill.

I have a 2001 vw passat. It makes a weird noise when im going under 15mph or so (with the windows down). I dunno if it makes it when I am going faster or not because of wind noise. [IMG].... I put in a html thingy so I guess we'll see if it works or not....

So when the car is idling(warmed up) I suddenly have a random popping noise coming from the front passenger side of the car. It is about 9 pops evenly spaced about every 1/2 second and then it stops. This is all while not moving....Like when sitting at a light. Then about 5 minutes later it will do it again. It seems its becoming more & more frequent.

Passat (B5) :: Weird Noise When Shift - Vacuum Leak
I have a Passat 1.8t b5.5 with 150hp
Some months ago I chipped it and it drives very good and I also changed the diverter valve to a 710N.
But now it is fast, but sometimes it just feels like it doesn't hold boost as it should. and I hear a very loud psss sound just like a BOV when I shift. Could it be the 710N which has been broken? Or is it a vacuum line to the DV that has a leak?
Passat (B6) :: Loud Whistle Noise When Accelerating
For a week now, my car whistle pretty loudly (I can hear it windows closed) when accelerating. After reading about 2.0t problems, I thought it was either a bad DV or PCV. I tried to diagnose if my problem was related to a bad pcv. So I disconnect the tube going from the intake to the pcv and plug the hole on the intake. Then I went for a ride and it whistle like before...so does this test confirm that my pcv isn't my problem?
As of now, I never saw traces of oil around the oil filler cap. When the engine is running, as soon as I press on the accelerator(even lightly), the whistle begin. As soon as I remove my foot, it whistle for a second then it stop. At a stop, if I press on the accelerator, the whistle will begin at only 5500 rpm and up.
No CEL so far related to lost of boost(I had a cel last week and they change fuel sensors and regulator). Also, the car pull pretty constantly but seem less powerful than before.

Just the other day noticed a whistle noise or a whining noise while I'm accelerating. Sounds like its coming from from the front passenger side,not sure.
Passat (B6) :: Weird Rolling Noise Coming From The Front Driver Side
Last night on our way home I was on the highway and we get into slow moving traffic around 25-30 MPH I get to heard this tap tap tap tap noise. which was going away when accelerating or braking.. and coming back when leaving the car rolling by itself... I did a bunch of recordings but this is the one you can heard the best... noise actually changes with speed and when turning, but again it goes away if I touch the brakes or the gas...
Noise appears to come from the front driver side.

I've searched but it seemed to lack a definitive fix. One mentioned felt glued into a crevice behind the mirror, but was not very explanatory since the pictures which were needed to understand where things went have since gone dead.

I have a k04 turbo on the passat. (2000 b5) been having problems with it for longest time. however one night i was cruisn around and suddenly when car boosted the turbo went from the typical whistle to a whistle with a distinct buzzing noise (no to loud but very noticeable) almost like a bery dull sounding supercharger.
Ripped inlet hose off found that where the clamp is to hold on to turbo inlet was slit all the way through got new inlet hose hooked it up nothing happened. checked all turbo charge pipes and lines am going to double check again tomorrow. does this sound like a turbo issue or a leak issue. There is no loss in boost car was fixed and now runs great ... but this buzzing sound is annoying and kinda worrying me at the same time.

I just traded in my base 2dr 2013 golf 5spd, for a 2013 Passat 2.5 auto. (crazy good deals on right now in Canada! only 45 bucks a month more )
Any way, I have two noises that probably should not be there,,, one is a whistle chirpy noise from the front sounds like a bird trying to get internet dialup...thinking secondary air pump, however..does change pitch when turning wheels.... and dies down a little when warmed up... but liveable for now..
Fuel pump, it resonates in your head!! It must be stopped... Is this common for all B7 Passats? High pitched annoyance just kills that new car feeling... I am only at 600 kilometers. its only heard when the radio is off but still slightly heard while driving.
I read filling the tank up with gas might work....but no not even a little. I'm thinking a trip to the dealer to replace the pump... if that doesn't work will dynamat solve the problem?
Gmc - Envoy :: 2002 - Shrill Whistle Starts After Car Hits About 20 Mph
I have a 2002 GMC Envoy that has developed a shrill whistle. It starts after the car hits about 20 mph, stops when braking or at a standstill, and sometimes doesn't start right away if the car is cold. My mechanic has checked things out and can't find anything. He pinpointed the sound to the front right side, but replaced the wheel bearing and that didn't fix the problem.

Passat (B5) :: 1999 - Weird Honking Sound From Under Hood
I have a 99 passat variant with the 1.8T. I recently put in an Evo intake, forge dv(reversed), denso iridiums and an upsolute chip and ever since I put the intake in I hear a honking air sound from under the hood. I only hear it for a little bit when I reach a certain point on the gas pedal then it goes away until I reach that point again under throttle. It's like a really low car horn sound. I know it can't be normal for my mods but it started ever since I put in my intake. It's just annoying. Can it be a leak in the intercooler hose or a vacuum leak. I can't figure it out I looked under the car and the intercooler hoses seem fine.

I have an 07 Passat 2.0T with 48,000+ on it. I tend to overthink any little sound my car makes that doesn't seem normal and this one has me perplexed. When I am driving at low speeds, windows down, I hear what amounts to a "psst" sound come from my front shocks only. I understand I have gas shocks on the front but it doesn't seem like any other car makes this sound.
The ride is comfortable and the sound does not seem to affect the suspension feel. Is this a normal sound? Do you think there is an issue with the shocks? I have been searching high and low for someone with a passat that has written about this sound from the shocks.
Passat (B6) :: Whistle / Squeal On Acceleration And Letting Off The Gas
I ran over a parking stone last summer, ripped the plastic undercarriage a little, but alignment was fine, wasn't that bad, etc. I took the car to the shop last week for a strange whistle/squeal on acceleration and letting off the gas (PCV valve under recall) and they stated that my radiator support was broken, and the radiator was hanging there to the tune of 750 bucks.

Last night I noticed a weird sound coming from the left side (alternator side) of my engine. Took a video.... I have already done my timing belt replacement about 10k miles ago. Oil is full, no leaks. Have the pcv block so it has a slight putting sound (as stated from their install manual). You can hear an inconsistent hollow growling sound that happens at idle but also under revs. Didn't notice the sound this morning but a lot last night.

Lexus :: Weird Noise Inside Cab
About a month ago I'm getting in my car, start it, turn on the a/c and as soon as I put it in drive and start to move I hear this strange noise all of a sudden. It's happened a few times now since then usually will be at least a week in between before it makes the noise again. What I have gathered is it can only be heard inside the cab, so it's not under the hood and when you turn the a/c off it shuts off so has something to do with that. Sounds kind of like a fan and I've included a video even though it's dark I follow the sound and it appears to come from the passenger side of the center console. Exactly what it is?
