Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Noise Coming From Cam Timing Chain - OCV Stuck

I have a problem with my 2005 elantra making a noise that sounded like it was coming from the cam timing chain. since it is still under the 10 year 100,000 mile warr. I brought it to my dealer. I had a P0011 code for advance timing also that keeps popping its ugly head. Dealer said that the chain would not be covered under warranty because of oil sludge and a faulty oil control valve. I went to remove the ocv from the head and when I removed the bolt the solenoid came off without the stem I tried an easy-out and managed to rotate it approx 1/8" but no luck getting it free to pull out.

Passat (B5) :: AWM 1.8T - Smokey Cold Starts / No CEL

Getting quite a bit of smoke at start-up in the mornings. I expect this from my diesel Jetta but not from my 1.8T. The car has 185,000 km on it and I'm the original owner. Maintenance has been followed to the letter - correct VW-spec synthetic oil since the first oil change as well. There are no major issues with the car..............aside from the smokey starts that started recently. No CEL or codes either. What could be up it?

Passat (B5) :: Transmission Slipping Only On Cold Starts?

I just brought the car into the shop to have the transmission fluid pan gasket changed, then have the fluid refilled with the proper OEM fluid. Prior to that it had Redline transmission fluid and was working fine.

The shop I took it to only works on VW and Audi and the mechanic told me I HAD to use OEM transmission fluid or I could damage the transmission. Now when I hit the gas pedal on every cold start it jerks into first gear but never does it again, until the next cold start.

Ford - Mustang :: 2011 - Knocking Noise On Cold Starts

I have a 2011 Mustang base with the V-6 engine and 6 speed transmission. It is my summer car, getting fewer than 3,000 miles on it per year. I take very good care of it. My question is what is the mechanical knocking noise I am hearing on cold starts? It continues for about 5 minutes until the engine is fully warm, then stops. The noise comes from the valve cover area. It clearly is a noise that cycles with the movement of internal parts. Is it normal or could be something serious. The car only has 10,000 miles on it (it was sold in 2010 as a 2011 model, so it is 5 years old now).

Civic - Honda :: 2000 - Engine Noise On Cold Starts

I have a 2000 honda civic with 120,000 miles on it. recently, on cold starts (when i haven't turned the engine for a day) i've noticed a rapid vibrating or rattling noise about 30 seconds or so after i've turned the ignition. this noise lasts for maybe 15 to 20 seconds then it goes away, presumably as the engine has warmed a little.

I do drive a lot, and during the day even after the car has not been running for a few hours this noise doesn't occur. Only happens on the cold starts. I hope it's nothing major. I've attached a video with the sound. about 30 seconds into the video you will hear the noise kick in. (if the video doesn't show below here is the youtube link: [URL] ....

Golf - Volkswagen :: 2015 - Strange Whining Noise On Cold Starts

So I posted here a while ago with a question regarding my Golf and a strange whining noise it made on cold starts. I took it in to the dealer to find out what was going on (warranty) and they said it was the secondary air pump making the noise and that it was normal.

Golf/GTI VI :: Clicking Noise On Cold Starts Coming From Fuel Door Area

So after I start my car in the morning (it's garaged in AZ, probably 60 degrees) about 1 minute after leaving the house there is a real odd noise in the back passenger side of the car. It almost sounds like it's coming from the fuel door area.

Happens for about 45 seconds, and then it's gone and doesn't happen again. It's not correlated to the engine speed or whether the car is moving or not.

Toyota - Corolla :: 2009 - Noise After Turning On Ignition But Before Engine Starts Only In Very Cold Weather

have an 2009 Toyota Corolla 62K miles. If the car sits out 8 hours or more in VERY COLD (zero degrees) weather makes a 1-2 second clashing/sparking noise the split second after turning the ignition on but before engine starts. I tried to attach video/audio. The car starts and runs fine. isn't a ticking or knocking or tapping noise assoc. with bad engine. It isn't squealing noise assoc. w/ serpentine belt. I've been waiting for it to get cold enough to leave overnight at Toyota dealer. I keep wondering if it isn't related to the botched oil changed at the Toyota dealer a couple yrs ago when they forgot the oil & I ran car about 30-60 seconds. At the time, they said all was okay and did compression test (Cyl 1=178psi, #2=175 #3=180 #4=178) all within the normal specs 145-189. I got a 2nd opinion at another Toyota dealer at time who removed valve cover and inspected cam caps and scoped cylinder walls and said all was okay and compression good. No mechanical problems- uses no oil, check engine light not on, etc. What noise is and why just when very cold and car sits out long time?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Chain Grinding Sound On Cold Start Ups

We got a 15 F150 yay for her but I got stuck with her 113k.

So the engine makes a chain grinding sound on cold start ups and the tranny is slipping pretty hard.

Can I swap a 2.4 with a 5spd without doing a bunch of wiring?

Azera TG (2006-11) :: Rattling Sound Upon Cold Start Up - Timing Chain?

I recently purchased a 2006 Hyundai Azera which has developed a rattling sound upon cold start up. Based on service bulletin 06-20-002 I believe the issue is with the timing chain tensioners. I am looking at getting a DNJ TK147 timing set kit to replace them with. Do this kit contains the updated tensioners? It is located on rockauto.

Passat (B5) :: Ticking Noise When 2004 VW Starts

i have a 2004 vw passat b5.5 1.8t. i have researched what this ticking noise is but its either my lifters or my chain tensioner. it only clicks right when my car starts but as soon as it warms up the noise goes away. also the ticking goes up with my rpms and ticks faster. I know both of these could be the culprit but i am not sure.

Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Broken Oil Pump Chain

I bought a 2006 Passat 2 years ago in august. Certified pre-owned around 37k miles. Had no problems. 2 weeks ago I started the car and it sounded louder than normal. Got up to 25 mph and the engine oil pressure light came on. I got the car towed to linden NJ VW. They said the chain for the oil pump broke and was lying in my oil pan. Oh, and I am 21 miles past my warranty! they said it would cost around $3000 to fix. So I started calling people, vwoa and the place I bought the car. Now they made me round up all my old service info. But I am waiting for the service manager to get back On Tues so he can review it before they break down the engine to figure out why the chain broke( because no one can believe that the chain just broke ). Based on what they find they said they "may" contribute "some" money!!

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Leaking Lower Timing Chain Cover On 2.7 V6

My daughter just bought a 2002 Santa Fe LX which is drooling oil all over the alternator and everything else in that area. I found what (I think) is the source (but you have to be a contortionist to see it.) I haven't been able to find any good parts identification photos of that area, but I think that this is the bottom corner of the lower timing belt cover.

I guess the repair will require going through the first several steps used when replacing a timing belt. I don't plan on going any further than needed to fix this leak, though, since the timing belt was reportedly changed about 25K miles ago.

Before I start taking all this apart, I have a couple questions:

1. What might be holding this corner out, away from the block?

2. Is the timing belt cover supposed to snap into place over a lip on the block? Or, should it be sealed with gasket sealer -- or something similar?

Passat (B5) :: Timing Chain Won't Working - Blown Engine?

I posted my passat to sell/part out last week. So I talked to the mechanic today and he hasn't looked in the engine. He just says that when the timing chain goes it wrecks the valves and pistons (needs rebuild). HE WAS TRYING TO SAVE ME MONEY THOUGH...FAMILY FRIEND. My sister got lucky on her passat and only messed up the valves. But she was sitting still....I was doing 80mph on 95 going to work. Should I have the engine looked at or sell it.....what are the odds I got lucky??? I found a lot of posts/blogs about how everyones engine blew, but no one said they got lucky.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Rattling Sound In The Engine - Timing Chain Or Belt?

My 2003 Sante Fe has developed a rattling sound in the engine. The oil level has been good. I took it to a dealer for diagnoses and they told me that the engine was gunked up and the timing "chain" tensioner couldn't move to keep it tight and it was rattling. They put some engine cleaner in and changed the oil and wanted me back in 500 to clean it again. I did that again, but the rattle is still there. It gets a little quieter after I have driven it for a while.

My question is doesn't the Sante Fe have a timing belt? If that is the case what do you think the rattle is?
