Passat (B5) :: Coolant Has Gotten Discolored And Crusty Around The Cap
I have an 02 GLX with 48,000 miles. Over the last few weeks, the coolant in my tank has gotten discolored and crusty around the cap. There are no leaks anywhere, the coolant has no funny smells, and the oil level and appearance are normal. The tank color has turned very dark and greyish, but I pulled out some coolant and it appears to be the perfectly normal red G12 color. And the level in the tank is the same as always.
I've considered the oil cooler and a headgasket problem, but the oil is normal and I haven't lost any.
The engine runs wonderfully at all times.
Camry :: 2007 4 Cyl Automatic - Transmission Oil Discolored On Dipstick
My wife drives an 07 camry; 4 cyl/auto. the transmission has a dipstick so I can check it, and I can see it is discolored. the car has 76kmi on it. she just drives it back and forth to work; no abuse, no start/stop, just highway and 45mph roads.
I am going to change the trans oil. I see on the dipstick it take Toyota WS fluid. I'll buy it at the dealer to be safe.
do I *really* need to drop the pan and change the filter? I have a fluid evacuater, and could suck it right out the dipstick, or I can pull the pan plug.
Is the dealer going to sell me a filter and pan gasket? I have read that many dealers wont even sell me the parts.
Lexus LS 2007+ :: Automatic Parking Brake Not Working At All And Little Green Light Does Not Illuminate
The little green light on my Parking brake button does not illuminate when i push the button to let me know if its on and I am also getting a message on my dash saying Check Parking brake system and have vehicle checked by a dealer. What my problem could be before I take the vehicle to a dealer? Apparently the automatic parking brake is not working at all and the little green light doesnt light up when the button is pressed. I have a 07 ls460 with 112k

View 3 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Ok To Mix Green Coolant With G11?
I have an old chevy that I ran G11 in (used to be a vw tech so I was able to get my hands on G11 all the time) so to take advantage of the freebies that's what I ended up putting in it.
being hard to get a hold of today, I am gonna swap to green as I can get my hands on that now for free.
is it ok for these two to partially mix?? I won't be flushing the system, just draining and filling so I might not get every drop of the blue G11 out of the engine.
Honda - Accord :: 1991 - Coolant Is Leaking As Green Fluid In The Floor
I have a 1991 Accord LX wagon that is leaking coolant. I figured it out b/c there is a green fluid pooled on the floor behind the passenger's seat. Why would coolant be leaking there? I bought this car in February and have been nickeled and dimed ever since. I want to sell it and get something else but I want to get the coolant problem fixed first and need to know if this is going to be expensive.

Lexus RX 2010-15 :: ECO Mode (Green) Does Not Switch Off
RX450h. Just purchased used 2010 model and today with first hot weather discovered climate control not really working well in eco mode. After long search found the button which switched ECO mode off in multi information display BUT the green ECO word still kept displaying on Hybrid system Indicator. So now I am confused, do I still have ECO mode on or not? And how can i get that green ECO message of my hybrid meter?

The outside temperature has been cold since the purchase of my 07 SC almost 2 weeks ago (below freezing F ). The A/C green light has not been lit. My 05 SC, the light was on all the time. Dealer says the system will turn the A/C off in certain circumstances in very cold conditions.

View 19 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: Water Pump Leaking - Coolant Level Not Low
I've got a 07 LS460 with 95,000 on the ODO and took it in for a harsh ride. The tech called back and said the upper and lower control arm bushings are bad along with a water pump leak.
If the water pump is leaking, shouldn't I have known? I haven't had any low coolant issues, smells or fluid on the ground.
I'm covered by an extended service plan, but would like to have known (otherwise I could have gone bust!)
Lexus ES 2007-12 :: ES350 Water Pump Leaked Out All Of Coolant
Bought an 07 ES350 from a reputable dealer in March 2013. Had 65k miles when i got it. Had it about 6 wks and 2400 miles and noticed some reddish leaks under the engine. Thought it was trans fluid. I was driving to the dealership to get it fixed - when i noticed the temp guage up near the red zone and the heater (was 39 degrees F out) was blowing cold air. I started to get in the right lane - when all of the lights on the dash lit up - including the "check engine" light. I was able to get over - i think the car actually stalled.
Anyway - after a tow to the dealer - it was the water pump had leaked out "all" of my coolant. At 67k miles having a water pump fail on a Lexus? Did i do permanent damage to the engine?
Lexus LS 2007+ :: No Interior Heat At Idle - Low Coolant In 2008 LS460L?
My 2008 LS460L blows cold air on cold days/nights when the engine is idling. Raising the RPM to about 1500 causes heat to start to flow out of the air ducts. I also hear a gurgling sound behind the dash when accelerating normally from idle. The water pump was replaced by Lexus in late April 2014.
I have checked the coolant reservoir (engine cold) and found it to be slightly below the "LOW" coolant level mark (not empty). It would seem that since the feed from the coolant reservoir is on the bottom of the reservoir, as long as there is some coolant in the reservoir, the rest of the system should be full.
All things considered, are the two issues (no heat & gurgling sound) more likely to be caused by low coolant in the system, the relatively new water pump, or something else? BTW, what is the proper method to top off the coolant in a 2008 LS460L? Are there any special bleed ports for eliminating air pockets?
Lexus LS 2007+ :: 2008 LS460 Coolant On Low End - White Smoke Blowing Out Of Exhaust
About 3 months ago I noticed at times my Heat would blow out cool air. This would happen mostly when I was sitting idle or in traffic in a "stop n go" situation. I did some research and found out that my Coolant was on the low end. I bought the Pink Coolant from the Lexus dealer and filled up.
I checked the levels again a few days later and it was low again. So I topped off again and looked for any puddles underneath the car when sitting, I paid attention to any smells, and looked to see if I was blowing white smoke out of my exhaust. NOTHING! My indicator stays on the middle range and never runs cold or hot.
I topped off after seeing that it was low again and didn't have to put as much in there, but it definitely was low again. It's now been about 2 weeks and it's still at the same spot (near the low indicator) but it doesn't seem like it's getting any lower. I have done more research and I cannot find any issues with the 2008 LS460's having issues with head gaskets or coolant issues.
I recently had my bumper replaced at the Lexus dealer Auto Shop because of a pothole I ran over that dinged it (also bent my rim)....I know this might not have anything to do with it but I thought I would add this tid bit since I didn't notice the issue until I got it back from them! I'm just really at a loss

View 3 RepliesLexus LS 2007+ :: 2012 LS460 3500mi - Antifreeze Coolant Smell Odor When Open Either Front Door
Brand new 2012 LS460 with one Dealer oil change:
This one started with stronger smell on passenger side but is now strong hot antifreeze smell when you open either front door. Not a drop on floor, no gauge movement from normal on hot 2-3hr trips - Only had one service six months ago at dealer just because it was to sit all year. I pulled all top engine covers off to inspect and found not one thing wet or suspect.
Ready to put on rack to look underneath (below firewall I suppose) just not sure at what, heater core connections? But a head gasket would be 1st guess? What could this be?
SAME as previous post (but no ID) from a 2008L owner: "I only have about 3,500 miles on my car, every now and then I get a faint smell of possibly antifreeze when I open either of the front doors after a good drive. It's very strange because if I try to locate the source, the smell goes away. Once I exit the car and sniff around, there is no smell in the wheel wells, in the front grill, or under the hood. I then try to sniff under the car just under the front doors, and there is no smell!"

View 2 RepliesSanta Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Coolant Leak At Hose End
I have noticed my 2007 SF V6's coolant is reducing at reservoir. I added premix coolant about 1 liter a month ago. Today I saw my driveway was wet, and this hose end was leaking.
I turned the spring clamp about 90 degree. but it's still dropping like 1 drop per 1 minute or so. Is this common issue? and how can I fix this?
Should I change the black hose? or change the same new spring clamp or change the spring clamp to a wider screw clamp?
Also, when detach the hose end, some amount of coolant will come out then, just adding premix coolant into reservoir for the max level is good enough? or do I have to bleed radiator airs?
