Camry :: 2004 - Transmission Case Had A Small Hole, Caused Leakage

Last spring my 2004 Camry, 3.3L with only about 115,000 KM (71,500 miles) started losing Transmission Oil. The lost of oil was very minor but I still had to keep an eye on it.

Last summer, I took the vehicle to a Toyota Dealership and they found the problem. It seems that corrosion created a small hole it the transmission case. just behind the driver's side wheel. The Service Tech was very nice and shared that in all of his years working at Toyota, (about 20 years) he had never witness this and none of the other mechanics had seen this as well. He indicated that my choices were simple, change the transmission or try and repair the hole with J-B Weld type of cold weld product (not sure if they used the J-B Weld product). I of course decided to use the cold weld product as per the mechanic's recommendation.

Well, last fall, the leak started again and it leak all through this past winter. The vehicle now has about 130,000 KM (90,000 miles). Besides this problem, the vehicle is in good shape and still runs very well. The funny thing is that the vehicle had a corrosion product sprayed on the vehicle soon after it was purchased.

Touareg :: Noise Caused By Flap In The Intake Plenum - 2004 V6

I just recently had a noise issue fixed in my 2004 V6 which I thought sounded somewhat like the valve problem you described. The noise was predominantly a low RPMs (1500-1800) when under load (ie uphill, not in park).

It turned out to be a flap in the intake plenum which apparently can become loose on the rod it's attached to and cause a vibration. The parts they used were a ROD and a REPAIR KIT.

Grand AM :: 2000 GA 3.4L SE (base) Sedan With Intake Manifold Coolant Leakage

I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE sedan (base model) with a 3.4L engine at 142Kmi that was just diagnosed with an intake manifold coolant leak by an independent shop.

I've done some googling and found that this is a known problem with this engine (including a class action suit). So far the leak is just external; no coolant in the oil and no oil in the coolant.

Windstar :: 2003 - Coolant Leakage After Lower Intake Gasket Replacement

Well, I decided to take on the dreaded task of replacing the lower manifold intake gaskets and put in new isolator bolts. It was a major undertaking, and when I finally finished the oil change and fired up the car, it sounded fine. Then I checked under the hood.

I saw coolant spurting out the side of one of the hose connections that I had to take off and put back on. I thought the gasket on it looked pretty worn, but wasn't expecting this!

Unfortunately I don't know the name of the hose connection to pick up a gasket at the store ... it's the larger lower hose that is bolted on to the lower intake, not the hose slightly above it that has the plastic clips.

What is the name of this hose connection so I can try and find one at the store? It's a 2003 Windstar model.

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Got CEL Caused By P0171?

Last night driving home my cel came on and I didn't hear anything off so I finished my drive home and scanned my car. The only code that came up was the p0171 code. I know it's a at system running lean code and I have looked and researched the issue. Some of the threads I've read have had bad endings, or this has caused their car to throw more codes the longer they drove it. I know about the maf sensor, checking for leaks, possible 02 sensor, things of that sort. My car is an 05 mk4 gli, apr stage 1, 007 dv, brand new n75, and brand new plugs/wires. Oil was also changed about 1000 miles ago. I'm trying to do this all myself if possible.

Accent RB (2012+) :: Fluttering Noise Caused By Fan?

Whenever I have my fan on speed 1 or 2, it makes this fluttering noise that comes from the passenger floor cabinet. I stuck my head under there while it was on and was able to confirm that it's coming from the fan that's located under the glove box.

I'm thinking about taking the fan out to dissemble it and try to figure out what's making the noise. It almost sounds like there's a leaf or something stuck inside rubbing against the fan.

Prius (Gen 3) Fuel :: Low Tire Pressure Caused Low Mileage

I have 6600 miles on my Prius. When I first go my prius I increased my tire pressure to 40 psi. At 5000 miles I got an oil change and my checkup. Took a road trip of 400 miles and got 53-54 mpg.

Just before my fill up at 5500 I put a screw through my front passenger tire. The last two tanks of gas I have only gotten 45 mpg and was ready to take the Prius back into Toyota and ask them to fix whatever they did to the car.. To make a long story short I decided to check the tire pressure on all the tires again. Three of the tires were at 40 psi and the one Toyota fixed was at 35 psi. I inflated the one tire to 40psi and not I'm right back where I was on the mileage. 52-53 mpg.

Prius (2004-09) :: Faulty Oxygen Sensor Caused CEL To Came On

We took our 2008 Prius in for a check engine light. The dealership said oxygen sensor was faulty. Changed that and had them change the serpentine belt while there due to cracks in the belt. My wife filled up the car the next day ( it took 13 gallons) but gas gauge was not registering a full tank. We drove 67 miles and I decided to pull into a gas station and see how much it would take since the gas gauge was not working properly. It took over 7 gallons.

Passat (B5) :: Software Upgradation Caused The Car To Hesitate And Stutter

When my car was brand new, in 2004, I had to take it in for its Tiptronic software to be updated. Apparently there was a Tech Service Bulletin on the 2004 V6 Passats where this faulty software caused the car to hesitate and stutter between 1st and 2nd. At the time, the problem was fixed right away at my dealership.

Now my car has 40,000 miles, and has been flawless. I took it in for the 40,000 mile service, and my car came back from being serviced with several problems mostly minor--the AM radio is suddenly static-y, the tires were all underinflated by 18 psi's. But a more serious problem is that the hesitation and stutter that I detected when the car was new 2 years ago is back! I can't believe I brought a perfectly working car in for 40,000 mile checkup, and now have these issues.

Tiguan :: Needed New Alternator After 22k Miles Caused By Oil Leak?

I had to have a new alternator put in my SEL this weekend after being stranded in Maryland. Was on my way back to Pittsburgh and the alternator light came on and slowly lost all electronics. Roadside Assistance towed it to Hagerstown where I waited for a day to get the part in. Could it have been caused by a oil leak from my oil filter that happened back in July?

Golf/GTI VII :: Jerkiness Caused By DSG / Inconsistent Brake Feel

Carefully modulating the brake in this car to offset any jerkiness caused by the DSG riding the gears down eventually became second nature to me and I am pretty good at keeping things nice and smooth. As of late however, my brakes are all over the place and it's driving me insane. If the person ahead of me stops short pulling up to a light and I need to follow suit, my brakes will often BITE hard resulting in a not so subtle jolt. Other times I don't get nearly as much stopping power as I think I should given how much force I'm putting on the pedal and I really have to bury it at the last minute. Not sure if these are a factor of the DSG downshifting at just the wrong moment or what, but it's gotten a bit unnerving.

Avalon 2005-12 :: P044x / P045x Can Be Caused By Overfilling The Gas Tank

Seems we see people asking from time to time about Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC) in the range of P044x and P045x - Evaporative Emission Canister Control.....

There are many of these codes in this range and mention is often made of faulty vacuum switching valves(VSV) along with a long list of other possibilities. I spent a little bit of time researching this and on occasion would find a comment or two by more than one tech that this problem can be caused by overfilling the gas tank. Their advice was as soon as the pump stops, pull out the pump and refit your gas cap using the correct amount of clicks(varies depending on the age of the car).

Golf V R32 :: Door Panel Rattle Caused By Bass From The Stereo?

Any good fix for the door panel rattle caused by bass from the stereo? I've had the car to the dealership twice and it hasn't been fixed either time. It's not the door trim it's the actual panel, if you push right below and to the front of the arm rest it stops. Turning the bass down is not an option, if it's not meant to be up that far they shouldn't have made it that way. How hard is the door panel to remove? Also is there a fix for the seatbelt adjuster rattle?

Nissan :: 2000 - Belts Change Caused The Power Loss

I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra 3.3L, at 114,000 miles I changed all the belts two days ago these being 3 serpentine accessory belts and the timing belt with tensioner. I do believe that the engine did not move (cams & crank) while replacing timing belt and even made sure the timing marks all lined up on the cams and the crank upon installation. The belt tension on timing belt was done to Chilton Spec. as well. I did not tighten the serpentines to spec. , but just to best judgment. Between idle -to- 3000 the engine does not seem as strong especially up hill. It idles smooth, does not overheat and there is no tapping/knocking or a check engine light. I was told that that with new belts (especially the timing belt) the motor may have to wear to the belts or vice versa and there may be some power loss till all wears in together do to now tighter tolerances. I was going to relieve some tension on the serpentines to see if maybe that would make a difference in regaining power.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 - No Heat, Might Be Caused By Blend Door

My wifes 2004 Santa Fe has no heat. From what I have read, a common cause of this is the blend door. I pulled the glove box, but was unable to locate the blend door. On the parts diagram it appears to be on the bottom of the heater box. Every tutorial I have seen show it on the right side, and easily accessible.

4Runner/GX470 :: 1995 V6 - Overheating Caused Head Gasket To Fail

I just bought a 95' 3.0 V6 4 runner that had overheating issues that caused head gasket to fail. I fixed all the reasons it was blowing the gasket with a new radiator & thermo. Now, temp no longer an issue but the automatic trans is slipping but has been getting alittle better as I drive it more. I noticed the trans fluid was pretty burnned when I replaced radiator..so will replacing the trans fluid & filter fix this issue ? Or could there be another issue ? My check engine light is also on, I will check the codes soon. I am getting horrible gas mileage, but probly from the slipping trans I guess.
