Grand AM :: 2000 Pontiac Parked For About 6 Months, Battery Light Came On
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4L 4 cyl automatic. The car had been sitting for about 6 months and I had to replace the starter. Finally a day off, replaced starter, charged battery, the heavens opened and the angels sang when it fired right up. Let car run for about 20 minutes sounded great. Noticed that the battery light came on. Took car to give it a much needed bath and when finished, was slammed back down to earth when the car wouldn't start.
Day 2... Remove alternator and have it checked. Autozone says it's good, I replaced the serpentine belt because I noticed some small fraying in a spot. Tensioner was great. Charge up car and it starts. Try to restart it and not enough power.
Now a week later, I am thinking battery or fusible link or bad wire. I pull the battery and have AutoZone check. Battery is bad. I replaced battery and "The Pickle" started right up! Enjoying her gentle purring once again I am dragged back to reality when the alarm bell sounds and the battery light goes off again. I am now thinking fusible link and wire once again.
Grand AM :: 2000 - Loud Grinding Noise In Front End
I have a 2000 grand am with 189000 miles and i have replaced both front wheel bearings and all of the struts. I put new brake pads on and rotated tires. I still have a horribly loud grinding noise in the front end of the car. I jacked it up off the ground and took the front wheels off and put the car in drive and the noise is still present. It gets louder the faster i go.

Since the weather got colder I've been getting really loud, squealing belt noises. They happen mostly when I turn on the car. They sound like when I had an old Altima and turned on the A/C the belt would squeal. But the sound happens even with no air turned on or defogger turned on. And it happens sometimes when I make a really sharp turn around when I first start the car. After it's warmed up I generally don't hear it. Also, sometimes having my foot on the brake will change how long the sound lasts for. I'd like to know what belt this would be and if just WD-40 should be used for now (or some type of belt dressing) OR if it's detrimental not to get work done on it. Also let me know if I'm able to tighten it myself or if that's better left. I replaced a valve cover gasket a few months ago so that's about the extent of my abilities at this point.

Grand Prix :: Parked Car For An Hour Now Won't Start / Just Clicks
After driving to the store, I parked for like an hour. i came back outside to start it and it just clicks. i bought an starter from autozone, it didn't work. I took that one back and got one from advanced auto, it didn't work either. Again it justs make a hard click when I attempt to start.

I just purchased a 99 GA SE, 130K, 3.4L and when we test drove it the horn did not work. Salesman said previous owner disconnected it because it "had a mind of its own". Dealer reconnected horn, I brought it home, parked it in the garage and was startled out of my sleep at 4:30 am by the distinct sound of a car horn...full blast and steady.
After a short and panicked look for the horn (couldn't locate it) I opened the driver's door and smacked, hard, the center of steering wheel. Horn stopped immediately. So, I quickly disconnected the battery to avoid further embarrassment and early morning wake-ups, and that's where I'm at.
I noticed when I tried the horn after picking up the vehicle it didn't take much pressure to activate the horn.
Kia - Rio :: Loud Squealing When AC On?
So basically- off and on for the past month or so -(but increasingly so) my kia has been making a very loud squealing sound whenever the ac is on (it would immediately stop as soon as the ac was turned off, no delay). I know I shouldn't have ignored it for so long- but now the ac has stopped working, no more squealing. Is this likely the serpentine belt or a pulley or something else? I will be taking it to the shop in the next few days...

For a few months now every time I start the car with AC on the belt squeals really loud. It's been getting worse so I need to fix it now. I just don't know if it's just a belt change or something bigger like the actual AC unit. I got the car certified pre owned in 07 and have never changed an engine belt on it so it's probably due. I have 2013 GS350 I bought in October with 5k miles. Currently I have 14,500 miles on it today.
Every time I have a cold start on the car, When driving at low speeds and braking, it has a loud squealing noise. Once the car has been running and driving, it goes away and doesn't came back unless I park the car and get back in an hour or so later. I went to the dealer and the guy said it's "normal", said moisture gets in and needs a few minutes break apart and that's how Lexus designs their cars. Which is believe is BS.

Accent RB (2012+) :: Loud Squealing While Driving At 55 Mph
I have a 2012 accent, while I drive this loud squealing happens. My car is under warranty but the techs have to hear the noise to do anything.
At 55mph the squealing gets so loud my music can't cover the noise. Around 70mph it goes away (still can hear slightly). When I come to a stop it keeps squeaking for few seconds then stops.
Accent RB (2012+) :: Loud Squealing At Start Up
I have a 2012 Accent with about 83,000km. Back in the summer, I'd noticed an issue with it squealing when I first started driving it after it had been sat overnight or any extended period of time. After 3 trips to the dealership, they finally determined it was the serpentine belt and replaced it which did work. However, now a couple months since that, the noice is back and worse than ever. This is how every morning starts with the car now:
Reverse off the drive, press on breaks and hear a groan as I do so but no squeal. Adjust to 'drive' and accelerate and instantly hear a very high pitched squealing which continues until either a minute or so into driving or I drive faster than 50km/h, whichever comes first.
The level of noise it's making now is becoming unbearable. It's embarrassing and I'm worried something is seriously wrong. Just my luck too, the warranty ran out on the 18th of this month. I could probably catch a recording of the noise if needed.
Touareg :: Loud Squealing In The Front When Cruising
We are waiting for the front drive shaft? It all started a while ago when the Treg started squealing in the front when cruising, it's really loud now and very annoying. Dealer says it is ok to drive on (?). I can't believe it, this sounds not good, I kinda do not look forward to the big lock-up.

for the last couple of weeks our 05 touareg has kinda been shakey, we knew it was time for a tune-up but hubby has been working crazy hours. Today it started squealing really loud every time he would let off the gas pedal. We went to to Midas and they said that it was misfiring in Bay 1 1-6. They told us that only VW would be able to fix it, but I found a couple of sites that sell them.

My wife's 2012 Camry XLE has developed a brake squeal after a car has been parked for a day at her work or in the driveway or street overnight. The brakes squeal in the beginning when a car is maneuvered out of a parking spot or driveway (backing out) or pulling forward with foot on the brake pedal. After that, during normal city and freeway driving and using the brakes, the squeal does not appear and brakes work fine.
I thought it might be rust but that would be gone when brakes are used. What could it possibly be?
Grand AM :: 2003 Pontiac - Car Now Sounds Like Have One Lifter That Is Fairly Loud
I have a 2003 Pontiac Gran Am GT 3.4 and i just noticed yesterday when i start my car now it sounds like i have one lifter that is fairly loud, it goes away about 10 minutes after its running. It did it for the first time when we were at the inlaws yesterday, after a few hours of sitting i went out to warm the car up and heard it. Then in the evening after sitting for a few hours i went out to warm it up and did it again. is it possible to be dirty and need something ran though the engine like seafoam?

It's cold and raining quite hard out and I just took my car out to the store and when I pulled into the parking spot a very loud squealing noise began coming from under the hood (sounded like driver side). I turned the car off and restarted and it was still there. I turned it off again and started it and it was gone. I drove the car home without issue and restarted a couple of times with no noise. The car ran great otherwise. What that was? I know very little about cars. It scared the crap out of me--it sounded quite loud--more of a screeching sound.

I have been noticing a squealing sound that I believe is coming from the rear brakes. I only hear this when I back up form the garage and apply the brakes. This happens mostly when the weather is cold, and only when I first back from the garage. This sound can be loud at times. Took it to two different dealers, but they could not hear anything. Of course this only happens when I first drive the car, so no wonder they can not hear it. I have been reading about it, and it seems many people have had the same problem. My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (manual) makes a loud squealing noise (between the speeds of about 25 and 45. It usually starts making the noise once the car has warmed up (but does not always make the noise). It makes the noise when the car is coasting but not when I accelerate or brake. The noise seems to be coming from somewhere in the front end.

I don't remember exactly when it started, but now if I turn the wheel it has a loud squeaking/squealing sound. Once I am going over 10mph I don't hear it (probably just don't over the road noise and sound of my truck), but turning into a parking spot it is super loud. What it could be? I have modded B and modded V codes, with 285/75/16 Michelin all terrains. I had that setup for a good 4 months without it squeaking.

In my 2004 Comp G I have an extremely loud clunk when braking. The braking clunk does not happen all the time. There is a clunk while having the car in reverse and power braking it. While holding down the brake and revving hard and fast it make the loud clunk every time. It will not do it all the time in drive though. I can not pin point which side it is coming from. It sounds as if it is mostly the right. It almost sounds as if it is coming from inside the trans near the pan area?
I have replaced the lower control arms, sway bar bushings, stab links, struts & mounts, I have solid engine and trans and top mounts, new inner and outer tie rods, all wheel bearings, etc.... (not for this issue, just for performance/wear).
I am torn between thinking it is a cv axle or internal drive train noise.
