Golf VI R :: High Pitched Whining From Rear Of Car?
I've got a steady and consistent high pitched whine coming from the rear of the car. It's only audible when the car is running idle and/or at a standstill, A/C and radio off. Also can't be heard while driving. I've ruled out any rear diff issues and thinking it might be the fuel filter. I recall noticing the sound soon after getting the car, however it's gotten more prevalent recently.

Those of you w/the "sport exhaust" on later 04's and 05's, at 80- MPH ... I get an engine exhaust resonance that varies with throttle. On throttle bad whine, off throttle no issue. Go 75 it's ok. Go 85 it's ok. My dealer hasn't heard of this. Not sure what can be done but on a long trip the drone will drive you nuts.
View 2 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 FX4 - Whining Or Whirring Noise In Rear When Pushing Throttle?
I just bought a 2005 fx4 and there is a whining or whirring sound coming from the rear of the truck when I hit around 70km/h. the second i let go of the accelerator it stops.
Today when I got home after a 15 minute highway drive, i got under the truck and felt the differential area. it was warm but not hot. and there was a wet spot on it. i wiped off a drop of oil. there was also a wet spot on the bottom, seemed to be just water? I'm not sure.
Dodge - Ram1500 :: Whining Sound Coming From Rear Most Prevalent At Speeds Above 35 Mph
I own a 2004 Dodge Ram automatic transmission with tow package. I use the truck fro getting around and moving light loads from here to there, nothing heavy. About two months ago I started to notice a whining sound coming from the rear. I did not pay too much attention to it at first, but it has gotten louder lately. It is most prevalent at speeds above 35 mph. I have tires that are 1 year old and the transmission is two years old. Mechanics have told me the truck is fine but I am concerned! Should I seek a second opinion or am I just being an overprotective of my truck...
View 14 RepliesGolf V R32 :: 2013 - Whining Noise Under Throttle
My TT-RS has a haledex, transmission and drivetrain as the R32.
I picked up my 2013 TTRS about 3 weeks ago now. Man do I love this car! However, about 2 days after I picked the car up I started hearing a really annoying noise coming from somewhere up front in the car. At first I thought I already had a bad wheel bearing, but then realized the noise goes away when I'm off the throttle or decelerating. It's a very irritating rotational whine that increases and decreases frequency based on what speed I'm at. However, it only make the noise when under light throttle inputs for maintaining speed. So if I just hold the car light on the throttle to cruise at say 45mph, it's annoying as all hell. The only way to not get irritated by it is to have the windows open, radio blasting, of AC blasting to overcome the noise.
Audi here in Scottsdale had 5 technicians identify the noise and confirm I'm not crazy. They say they have no idea what it could be. However, they cannot see anything mechanically wrong, and since we can't pinpoint a source, they can't just start digging in for warranty work. Also, since TT-RS's are so limited, they haven't been able to drive another one to see if it makes the same noise. I assume it has to be something that engages when torque is applied, but I'm at a loss where to start. CV joints? I am assuming it's some bearing that compresses in the transmission under power?
Golf IV R32 :: Whining Noise At Highway Speeds
So my car started to make this noise, hear it more at highway speeds than anything else. It's like a high pitched whine or whistle. When I'm on the accelerator it goes away, soon as I take my foot off the gas it starts up. Just cruising and engage clutch goes away as well. Sounds like coming from rear but hard to tell, hear it at low speeds but not as loud.
View 5 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Engine Revs High On Startup And Release Clutch Noise
I have a MT '12 Golf 2.5L with around 8k miles. I always park with the transmission in neutral. When I first start it up in the morning, the engine revs high, around 1500RPM, so I can clearly hear the engine inside the car. I start it, it revs up and holds, and when I release the clutch I hear what sounds like a rev, but the tach doesn't move.
I believe the GTI doesn't need the clutch depressed for the entire turn over, but the Golf does, so I have to hold it until the engine is running. It may not be a big deal, but I'm just wondering why releasing the clutch in neutral would make a noise. I don't hear it any other time than at start up.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 4th Cylinder Occasionally Misfire If Release The Clutch At Too High Of A Rev

View 2 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Whistling Noise At High Speeds And / Or High Winds
Alright I did a search and found these threads with no final resolution on each. My new 2013 has the whistling noise at high speeds (65+) and high winds. It's for sure not from the engine and coming from both the driver and passenger mirrors. I can hear it with either or both front windows down but not back windows. No whistle at idle or due to high RPMs. What is the Jetta TSB # or a fix for this issue.

Golf V R32 :: 2008 Lurches At Low Speeds When Giving It Light Throttle
I just bought an '08 r32 a few days ago. '08 with 17k on the odometer.
At low speeds (parking lot or stop and go traffic), giving it light throttle, the car lurches as if someone was giving it throttle and letting go.
Is this what is known as the hiccup problem (fuel tank vent) or the mechatronics problem?
Camry :: 2003 LE - Vibration At High Speeds In The Rear
I have a 4-cyl 2003 Camry LE with a bit of a vibration issue, but first, some backstory.
I put in new tires about 20,000 miles back and I started to notice a pull to the left side and no amount f alignment would fix it and there was no other discernible issue with the front end.
I read about how some tires have some internal issues with the radial belts and I decided to rotate the tires. No more pull. It didn't change the fact that the tire may be defective and still causing issues.
Could a tire that caused a strong pull on the front end cause a vibration at high speeds in the rear?
Lexus RX 2004-09 :: Flapping Noise From Rear On High Speeds
Thought it was another AC flap that is playing up but it was the small plastic flap next to the tyre that was giving me the headache.
Still, could not find the rattle at the rear which i think is caused by the underfloor storage compartments. Thats for another day.

View 4 RepliesGolf VI R :: Whining Noise From Rear Of Vehicle Came And Went
Just today I started hearing a whining noise from the rear that came and went. I wouldn't be worried but it was so loud that the radio could not drowned it out anymore. The noise when away when I gave the car some throttle so I am thinking its the rear diff. It was pouring down rain and I wonder if there was some part of that that could have had an affect.
View 24 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Vibration At High Speeds And During Acceleration
I just recently lowered my mk6 with h&r springs(1.2 front and rear) and installed wheels and tires from tire rack. I am noticing a lot of vibration at the wheel, pedals and seats while accelerating or moving at higher speeds. I had an alignment done after the springs were installed and all 4 tires/wheels have been road force balanced. One of the tires rated at 20lbs which apparently is acceptable but Tire rack sent me a new tire anyway, which I just had put on today.
Still the same vibration is there. Next step tire rack wants to do is switch out all 4 of my Michelin for a different tire. The guys at tires plus feel that there is no issue with the tires and I think I agree. Could the lowering springs be the problem?
Golf IV R32 :: Whining Coming From Rear Differential Under Deceleration
Have some 'whine' coming from the rear differential under deceleration. In my case it just started occurring last night and seems to be audible over 55MPH and while in 5th or 6th gear after I let up off the throttle as to engine brake.
It seems like the answer or solution pertains to the input shaft pinion retention nut eventually backing off, as well as oil starvation to the unit, but has this actually been confirmed? My rear diff was replaced over 4 years ago under warranty after it failed and enduring 2 wheel drive for a bit.
