Golf/GTI VI :: Front Brake Pads Wearing Unevenly

Today as I was adding pressure to my tires I noticed the front brake pads were wearing unevenly. Both outer pads wore the same. More "meat" on the inner section of pads than on the outer, evenly worn, just sort of slanted down as you move out towards the outer rim of the brake disk.

Is this normal? What would cause this? Should I have it looked at? I've never seen anything but even pad wear, perfectly parallel to the brake disk.

Edit for these pictures to clarify.....

Elantra MD (2010-15) :: GLS Aligned - Tires Wearing A Bit Unevenly

I have about 20,000 miles on my elantra gls with the stock 16" wheel.

I was measuring my tire tread and noticed that the outer groove of all 4 tires is down to 3/32 tread depth while all of the middle and inner grooves have about 5/32 to 6/32. My car was aligned about a year ago. Tires rotated every other oil change, i do oil changes at about 3,500 miles.

I drive pretty conservatively, though the street in front of my neighborhood is 50mph and has heavy traffic, so I have to take an aggressive about half the time I pull out of my neighborhood.

Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Rear Tires Wearing Unevenly - Tire Pressure?

I do 98% of my driving unloaded and almost never tow. (Kinda weird for an F350 huh) I know that the truck recommends going with 65psi front and 80psi rear but the rear tires seem to not be wearing evenly across the tread pattern. The edges still have the little rubber stubs sticking out of them even after almost 3000 miles. Should I be running a lower tires pressure in the rear when empty or should I just let tire rotations take care of the uneven wear. If I should air down, what pressure would be recommended? The front tires are wearing normally at 65psi and they have more weight on them then the rear.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Right Rear Brake Pad Is Wearing Unevenly

On my 2009 Matrix XR (2.4L), my right rear brake pad is wearing unevenly. I'm up to 87000 km (54000 miles). My first pad change was one year ago. I kept the pads and only noticed this time that the wear was at an angle on the outer pad, both times.

The inner pad is ok.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Rear Tires Wearing Fast

I'm trying to figure out why I am having problems with my read tires wearing fast. I knew my car was out of alignment and took it to a shop and they told me I have -1.05 negative toe and bad camber.

Can some shims fix my issue or would I be better with a whole new rear beam. As far as I know the car has never been lowered, but how would I be able to tell?

Golf VI R :: Rear Tires Wearing Prematurely On Inner Edges?

About a week ago I had my car on a hoist getting new exhaust tips installed. At that time I noticed the rear tires are wearing prematurely on the inner edges. So are the fronts but not nearly as bad as the rears. I asked around and was told that this is normal for the factory Pirellis because of the negative camber built in to our cars. This being the reason the car corners so well. I understand the physics of this and I really like the way the car corners. My question is this---Can the negative camber be taken out of the car thusly reducing wear on the inner edges of the tires?? And how much will this be noticed while driving the car normally, and during spirited driving?? I have noticed that some fellows will purposely mod their cars with increased negative camber on the rear wheels, I'm assuming this is to achieve a certain "look".

Prius V :: OEM Tires Wearing Out Only At 25k Miles

My original 17" Toyo tires are noticeably wearing out after only 25k miles and it appears to need replacement soon. I can probably drive for another 5 to 8 k miles but the edges may be bald by then. I looked at the Toyo replacement tires and the exact ones are actually quite expensive which means they may be in the performance tire category. For a Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon), not sure this vehicle warrants this type of tire. I will be looking for a longer lasting tire for replacement and not necessarily performance tires.

Lexus SC430 :: Inside Edges Of Tires Wearing Out

'02 SC430 with just over 30K miles. She is wearing out the inside edges of the tires. We have had the car aligned twice in our one year ownership. Are these cars prone to this kind of wear and/or going out of alignment? Would this be a spring/shock/strut issue? I assume the original components are still on the car so maybe she just needs replacement parts due to age. She has low miles, but she is 11 years old now.

Touareg :: Tires Are Not Wearing Evenly / Excessive Wear On Outside Portion

My 18 inch Conti Contacts have approximately 20,000 miles on them. The tires are not wearing evenly and have excessive wear on the outside portion of the tires. The dealer says that they spoke with VW and VW says that it is "normal" for the tires to wear this way because of the "turning radius" of the vehicle. I smell BS. I don't know much about this subject but it would seem to me that the tires should wear somewhat evenly if the vehicle is balanced and aligned properly.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - Tires Wearing Uneven?

I have a 2010 fx 4 cew cab that has a 2" lift on it. I am new to the truck scene, but my wife has always wanted a big truck. I have pro comp tires that are 35 X 12.50X20 LT. They are the Pro Comp Xtreme A/T. The truck is driven evry once in a while and it is never off road. The issue I am having is that the tire wear is really bad and uneven in the front. It has been aligned 3 times in one year and the balance has been checked. I had the lift kit done at the dealership and they are saying this is normal and that the wear is due to not rotating the tires every 3000 miles. If the truck was driven every day I would understand but it only has 10,000 miles on it. Is this normal? The wear looks like a shock could be bad but they have already replaced the shocks about 3 moths after i purchased the truck.

Golf V R32 :: Front Left Wheel Whining After New Tires?

I just did my 20k service and also replaced my stock Continentals with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus on Friday. Driving to a friends tonight, I noticed a high pitched whine coming from the front left wheel at slow speeds mainly below 25 whether I use the brakes or not. I only have 19,600 miles on the vehicle so I doubt it is the brakes.

I went out to check to make sure they had the tires set to rotate in the correct direction which they do and I noticed it is the only wheel that makes a noise if I push on the tire itself. None of the other tires make noise and it sounds almost like someone is hyperventilating when I pushed on it.

Golf VI R :: Front Tires Rub When Wheel Is Turned After Getting Towed

I've had the pleasure of getting towed out of my own apartment complex earlier this morning. Parking placard fell off dashboard so it was not visible.

Regardless, I go to pick up my car from the lot. I'm cranking my steering wheel right and before I could even fully pull out of the stall, I hear and feel rubbing coming from the front left fender. I get the same symptoms in the right fender when I crank the wheel fully to the left.

This is the FIRST time I've experienced rubbing. Keep in mind that I'm sitting on h&r sport springs, oems wheels and p zero tires. I profoundly let the manager know my issue and he told me they'll have their mechanic take a look. They obviously took the position of no fault on their end.

I'm not mechanically inclined but I'm wondering if improper or misguided towing instructions could be the culprit here.

IS F (2008-2014) :: 2011- Front Inner Tire Wearing?

I'm looking to buy an ISF and now I'm reading about the 2IS chassis suffering from front inner tire wear with many attributing it to the soft LCA bushing (see FIG fix) and the factory alignment. Most of the reports seem to be focused on the 2008-2010 ISFs and I see little about 2011+ owners reporting this issue. It's my understanding that the 2011+ front springs are slightly taller/higher and a different rate. Did this possibility (inadvertently) correct the front inner tire wear issue?

I had a 2003 G35 and front inner tire wear plagued that car too and it was annoying and no real fix available. It had the same exact suspension setup on ALL components. We didn't smoke through the inner rubber tread, but rather it feathered like and if you didn't stay on top of it, your G/Z would sound and feel like a dump truck after about 10-15K miles because of the feathering.

I'm looking at 2012-2014 ISFs and I would check and correct the alignment if necessary. I know FIG makes a replacement bushing, but it's urethane and after about 20 years of modding cars, I've learned that urethane is best left to race cars. After about 5K miles, urethane needs regreasing and almost always leads to squeaking/clunking as the urethane loosens up after a year or two.
