Golf/GTI VII :: Disable Horn Honk When Locking The Car?
Is there a way to disable the horn when locking the car without VCDS? I couldn't find anything in the car menus?? I got my car last night and coming home I was trying to be quiet as to not wake my gf and/or neighbors and realized just how loud the horn is when locking the car. I have to disable this some how.

How come this isn't in the MFD settings? I hate my horn beeping when I lock the doors. So are we able to set this to not beep? I think on the MKV it was under ATA settings or something.

I just picked up my new 2010 Golf (2-door manual, gas) a couple of weeks ago. I'm planning to take it back to the dealer for the first checkup soon. I'm having a minor issue with the car and am wondering if others have experienced this or if I have something set improperly. I've gone through all of the adjustments available through the trip computer menus to no avail.
Basically, the courtesy lights for the interior of the car don't come on when the door is opened. The sensor on the door apparently works as the "door ajar" signal comes on the instrument panel when the door is open.
The switch on the headliner works to turn the lights off (left), stay on (right), but in the center position, which according to the owner's manual is supposed to be the "door open" position, the lights do not come on.
I also hate the horn that beeps when I lock the car. I often come home from work after my kids are asleep and I try not to make noise. There doesn't appear to be a setting for this in the owner settings menu through the trip computer. Can the dealer turn this off for me?
Interesting, today VW sent me an email with a link to some "welcome" videos with how-to information about features on the car. On the remote locking video it just showed and described the turn signals flashing when locking, but no horn.
Otherwise, I'm enjoying the car a great deal. It drives wonderfully and is very quiet on the freeway. I just love the new seats on the 2010 base Golf as well. They remind me a lot of the Recaros on my old Jetta 16v.

2010 Passat wagon. The locking horn chirp on the Passat is way too loud. I know I can turn it off, but I was wondering, if can change horn to a chirp instead. (I think this locking horn is different from the actual horn on the car, but I'm not positive) My Touareg chirp has more of a bird chirp sound which is much more subtle that the fog horn style of the Passat. If I lock the Passat late at night it wakes up everyone in the house. Also, how do you access the horn, it sounds like it is inside the passenger front fender.

I just purchased a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata SE. Inspected the car from top to bottom upon purchasing but failed to check one thing. I have discovered the horn does not chirp upon locking (pressing fob lock button twice). The system panel shows the car has this feature and the box is checked to do so. The doors do lock and the lights do blink. The panic button when pressed on the fob also makes no sound. Again, the lights blink on the car itself when the panic button is pressed. I have researched and have came up empty.
I can not seem to locate the hood switch or sensor on the car where older models seem to be. Dealer says it is in the latch on 2016's but I am uncertain this is correct as I called several dealers and got different answers each time. They all want me to bring the vehicle in but run the risk it is not covered under warranty depending on the issue. Car has 39K miles. Horn works fine. Carfax was clean so supposedly accident free. I'm focused on the hood switch because most of my research pointed in this direction.

Just got a 2007 Passat with 33k on it. So far, aside from he rock chip i got on the windshield on the way to work on day 1, I love this car. Put about 500 miles on it so far in less than a week. I have to do the typical stuff like replace the DV and cam follower, but, I do have 1 question. When I lock the car or hit the panic button on the remote, only the lights go on. There is no horn sound. But, when I press the horn, it works. Could it be a fuse, if so, which one? I looked in the manual and could not find the horn fuse on the diagram.

A couple months ago my VW Passat started locking itself and sounding the horn spontaneously, and now it is rolling down the windows randomly as well. My key isn't in the ignition when this happens. I got locked out once which was annoying, but now the windows rolling down make it a security issue and I really don't want the windows down in a parking lot during the next snowstorm. The heater quit working last week, too.
The car is only 2 years old and the dealership said they can fix the heater but they aren't sure what would be wrong with the spontaneous horn/window/locking problems.

I have an 07 SE, and I've been looking for a way to disable the factory Toyota chime and have my horn beep when I lock/unlock the doors. I believe the Asian models have this feature. Just wondering if it's something we can do with the USDM units.

I have a 2010 Prius IV and set the doors to all unlock when I touched the driver's door handle. Annoyingly, now when I touch the raised spot on the handle (either driver or passenger side) to lock all the doors the car does the beep but also briefly toots the horn. The horn also toots when I touch the handle to unlock.
My old 2005 Prius VI just did the beeping (which my neighbors and I can live with) but the addition of a honking horn, however brief, is pretty annoying. I can't seem to find a place to disable this unwanted feature...
Sonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Hazard Lights / Horn Feedback Not Working When Locking Car
I have a 2011 sonata gls. Today I noticed when locking the car with the remote keyless entry, the hazard lights don't blink, and also no horn feedback when the remote is pressed twice within 4 seconds. I checked all settings in the display and horn feedback is set to "on". The unlock on the fob works fine, the hazard lights do blink for that. I know this is not a serious issue, just used to hearing and seeing the doors lock. What to look for to fix this?

I've got an unusual problem with my 2013 Elantra. It has been serviced about a month ago and all was well. I left my car sitting for a week, parked inside in an unheated garage, after driving in the rain. When I came back, I started it, let it run for a few seconds (less than 30) then shut it off.
When I then pushed the door lock button on the key fob to lock the door, I noticed the horn sounded muffled and was a lot quieter than usual. Still, the door locked and lights flashed.
When I went back about 24 hours later, and tried to start the car, it wouldn't start. The engine cranked, but would not catch. Electric seemed to work fine.
I tried a few more times, pushed the gas to the floor, and it eventually started. I drove it for 30 minutes or so and it ran fine. I shut it off for 30 min, and then started it up again no problem. And the weird thing was, when I went to lock the door, the sound the horn makes when you lock the door sounded normal.
My questions are this:
1) did shutting it off after one minute the first time make it unable to start the second time?
2) are they muffled horn sound and the inability to start related?
3) do I need to bring it in for service?
