Pontiac - Grandprix :: Got Error Code P0140 / 1404 - Rear O2 Sensor No Activity?
Got a p0140 code. Rear O2 sensor no activity. Changed sensor 1 yr ago. Not Bosch or delco sensor. So, code is back. I did quick code check and also see a 1404 code for egr pintle range.a stuck egr usually makes car run poor, sometimes stall. But motor purrs like kitten. No driving issues at all. I clear code and 15 min later both come back. Any connection between both codes or total coincidence?
View 3 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: CEL Throwing P2271 And P0140
I recently got a great deal on a 2009 Sonata 3.3l v6 with just a few quirks i'm in the process of repairing.
First on my list is the CEL throwing codes p2271 & p0140 which indicates a faulty downstream o2 sensor. I've searched the forums and have not been able to come up with the exact location of the sensor and the tools i might need for the job. I realize this might only be like a 10 minute job but I want to be prepared .
Golf/GTI VI :: CEL Is On And Code Is P2181
My CEL is on and the code is a p2181 (cooling system performance). My car isn't overheating or taking too long too warm up, so I'm guessing its not a bad thermostat or water pump. I want to replace the ECT sensor, but I haven't found any instructions for doing this on the 2.0TSI engine. Aren't there 2 ECT sensors? One on the lower radiator hose and one on the thermostat/water pump housing.
Lower radiator hose ECT sensor: [URL] .....
Thermostat/water pump housing ECT sensor: [URL] ....
Which one do I need to replace? The radiator hose ECT sensor seems easy enough to access, but I'm not sure what needs to be removed to replace the sensor on the thermostat housing?
I noticed that the temperature isn't always sitting at 190. It will drop slightly below on occasion for short periods of time. Could this actually be a thermostat issue?

CEL came on yesterday and pulled P2181 which looks like it could be a bunch of different things. Taking it to the shop tomorrow morning so any guesses? BTW I would attempt the easy things first but it is my daily so.....

Can't find a clear answer on this, I was told I need a new ECU....can this be right? Or can I just get a re-flash?

I recently replaced my MAF on the car with part number 06A 906 461 A which is not the 07D 906 461 part number. I take it that this is wrong because i am getting power surging in the car at WOT and I have a pending DTC code P0103.

Golf/GTI VI :: CEL Along With The Error Code P2187
I am getting a CEL and the error code is p2187 engine too lean at idle. I have been reading around to try and find the issue, some seem to say PCV could be the issue. I have also read a test would be try and remove the oil cap while car is idling. I did this test and the oil cap was difficult to remove and the idle got really rough once removed.
View 2 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: P0601 Error Code - Need New ECU?
My r is throwing a p0601 sum error. I clear, it comes right back. I know the previous owner has it chipped at a garage that wasn't linked to any brand. I was planning on putting an apr/giac tune over it but now I can't (no money). I know this might mean I need a new ecu. Right now I plan on going to vw on monday and having them reflash the ecu bringing it back to stock...if it returns then i guess i need a new ecu... This sound right?
View 5 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: CEL With The Code P0401 Came On
I picked up a 03 Jetta TDI about a month ago to use as a daily driver so I could park my Jeep. This is my first diesel so still getting used to some of the quirks and what is normal and what is not.
First problem is a CEL with the code P0401 - Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected. Now there seems to be a lot of information online about this and how to fix it and everything has something different to say. I live in a cold climate, its already -2 and going to get to -20 - -30 at some points so I'm not looking to to a EGR delete as my understanding is that it takes longer to heat up?
Next, being my first diesel, I'm used to turning heat on and driving for a minute and having heat. Not so much in the Jetta. It can idle for 20 minutes before I head out the door and its throwing warm air but the engine temp is a dead 0. Not until I get on the highway and drive for another 15 min do I actually start getting close to operating temp. Being its only about 0 celsius at the moment...
Other trouble spot is the steering, considering this thing weights next to nothing and has tiny wheels, it is about 4x harder to turn the wheel then it is in the Jeep on 35's. I also seem to get this shrieking/whining from the engine bay about 5-10% of the time when moving the steering wheel and the vehicle is under 5 km/h.
Golf/GTI VI :: CEL On With Code P0101 After Apr K04 Upgrade
So i recently upgraded to a apr k04 from a apr stage2 tune and I'm getting a P0101 CEL. I've triple checked all my piping, and sensors, everything is nice and tight. I did however install the turbo with a GFB DV+ using the spring. Do you guys think the fact that the spring in the DV+ holds an amount air in the intercooler that it's throwing off the readings with the MAP and causing that CEL? I was going to give it a week or so and maybe see if the ECU can adjust itself enough to the DV+ and hopefully solve the problem. If not then i guess ill check for more leaks, but i doubt there is any. Boost holds real good throughout the whole rpm range...

View 1 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: P2293 Code - Is The Pump On Its Way Of Going Out
So here's the backstory, Couple of months ago I Cold started my Car. During the fast idle the car started to misfire, but no flashing check engine light. then after the cycle, it smoothed out and was fine. Now it's happened maybe 3 or 4 times since then. So Today it hasn't done it but I decided to Scan it and check the OBD codes.
As I sit right now I'm APR Stage 2, I'm in the process of going K04, just waiting on the turbo to come in. Now the too high of fuel pressure one I've had for a while. I was told it was a software thing nothing to worry about. But the P2293 Code has me stumped. I've had the HPFP Fail at 16k miles so I know what the symptoms are. I also replaced the follower at the same time when I did the HPFP. Now the thing that has me stumped is, The car is running fine. No issues what so ever. No problems with fuel cuts or anything. Is it possible that the Pump is going on its way out? Or am I just paranoid?
Golf IV R32 :: Code For Misfires In Cylinders 1 And 2
My girlfriend's MkV Jetta 2.0T is throwing a code for misfires in Cylinders 1 and 2. I've already switched out the plugs and coilpacks with no change. I'm going to try re-positioning the coilpacks to see if the code follows. In doing some research, someone mentioned that it could be fouling on the injectors, which led me to BG44K. She has >215K miles. I figure she's gotta have some fouling that could be cleaned up. I have ~110K miles on my R32 - I figure it wouldn't hurt to do some cleaning in my own car.
View 4 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: ESP And ABS Lights Came On - Code 00283
I was driving back from NH this morning. and for some reason my ESP & ABS lights came on. I pulled over and threw the VAG on it and received the code: "00283 - Left Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor G47". When I got home, I took the wheel off and there it was: the wire that hooks onto the right side of the shock was off it's mount, and I noticed a nice scrape on it, exposing some of the copper wiring. I'm not sure how this wire came unhooked, but obviously this explains the codes/warnings being thrown. I checked ECS, but I couldn't find one that matched. Or, is there any way of repairing these wires (through stripping & reconnecting)?
View 6 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: 2012 - Code P0480 Bad ECU?
Car is a 2012 GTI that was stage 1 tuned about a year ago. Car has a soft P0480 code and the radiator fans come on a few seconds after the ignition is started and stay on the entire time. They stay on for about 10min after parking the car on a cold day.
All things I have read point towards the lid of the ECU being re-installed incorrectly. This is from reading other posts where tuners have commented that this is 100% attributable to human error and not software error.
Golf/GTI VI :: USP Down Pipe With P0420 Code?
I have the CBFA motor, and i am getting getting the p0420 error code. I have read two related threads here and here about p0420 codes and different downpipes. It seems the AWE and Nuespeed seem to be better for getting around CEL without additional flashes. I currently have purchased and installed one RAI straight O2 spacer (after the cat) and have tried both the medium and smallest insert but after clearing the CEL it has returned both times with the same code. Do i need two O2 spacers, one installed with the smallest insert and another with a different size? Trying to make sense of all the posts.
I am unitronic stage 1, before going stage two i want to have the CEL under control so i can downgrade the flash and not trip CEL for smog.
