I've got a GIAC flash on my 2008 R32 .
After a year I fitted a VF intake as that was supposed to be the one. I've had just removed it a few months later. (It's for sale in Oz). The only diff I found was the intake noise change, (not too bad) My overall fuel consumption was pretty much the same and a long hill I use to accel hard up always had me at the same speed on a marker.
Not knocking the product but as far as I can see the only gain was intake noise.
Golf/GTI VI :: Difference When Checking Oil Level At Normal Operating Temperature
I went out and checked my engine oil level when the engine was cold and the oil level was near the bottom of the hash marks. Drove the gti for around 15 min and fully warmed the engine and waited five minutes and rechecked the oil level. to my surprise the oil level was actually higher! it was now at the top of the hash marks. if I added oil when the engine was cold I would've over filled my engine. I always thought it was the other way around with a cold engine all the oil would have drained back to the oil pan and should read higher when cold. Why the oil level reads higher when the engine is at normal operating temperature?

View 9 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Both Headlights Have Gone Out?
I'm wondering about the HUD messages I've posted in below. I didn't have any errors at all, and then all of a sudden I have two. Is it possible that both of my lights have gone out (almost simultaneously) after this many miles? Are there any other factors which might cause this type of message when the lights are actually fine? Or would the easiest option to be to simply replace the lights and clear the error....unsure. I've read there's a known issue with the lights.

when i googled images it looks like the 205/50 look thicker than the 205/45. but i couldn't find a good comparison.
the 205/50 is the right size for my 2003 camry, but i want a low profile look. can you see a difference between 205/45 and 205/50?
also does it matter if i get 205 or 215?
GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Difference Between ESP And ACR?
I want a 20th AE & have seen pics that say ESP on a button next to the hazard & others say ASR. I know that their was one option for the car: ESP. So what's ASR? Is one better than the other? Is it the same? I've heard that the ESP sucks for autocross. Is this true?

I have the option to have a 1.8T passat built for me, or I can buy a VERY clean V6 (has coilovers, but not many other mods, still looks sweet) and I just need some opinions before I decide for sure. (BTW the price will end up being about the same either way). The 1.8T will take about a month longer to get, but has the opportunity to be modded much more.
1. 1.8T or V6? I am interested in hearing about the difference in pickup as well as the overall handling differences with them.
2. On the built passat it will have much more aftermarket parts, how is the stock performance and handling of a stock V6?
Golf V R32 :: Headlights Did Not Level
Last night i got into my car and my headlights did not level. I recently lowered the car (a month ago) and the headlights were fine until yesterday. I had not touched the sensor or motor when i lowered the car and i am confused about why nothing happened until last night.

I think if your parking brake is engaged they are on but if its just headlights on they turn off. Also I'll just whore this pic of my R ....

I bought my CW r32 yesterday(#2746) . When got home I noticed that I had a little condensation in both hid headlights. Is this normal or should I be worrying? Also, I don't no how to use my iPod when put in the arm rest dock. My dealer said to "put it in cd mode then plug in your ipod, then it should play". This didn't work for me. I also found a inch1/2 scratch on my left headlight.

Basically got myself into a big pickle with tickets.... as related to keeping my job. I got two serious traffic violations (15+ mph over the limit) that'll count against my CDL.
My question basically comes down to having brand new tires vs. tires that are worn to the bars indicating tread depth is too shallow. Yes, that difference can be enough to determine whether or not I'm under or over 15mph over the limit.
Okay I guess that really wasn't a question .... Is the speedometer calibrated to "new" tire or a "worn" tire?
I drive a '98 Saturn SC1 with the stock steal rims... R14 if I remember right. I basically have two new tires on the front end... One about 1000 miles off the other one.

How important is acceleration in defensive driving? If someone were extremely concerned with safety (because there’s a baby in the car, for instance) would it be worth sacrificing fuel efficiency for the extra power of a V6 engine?

I have the euro tails and had the bulb out light on, my local dealer changed the light settings and now the DRL lights are dim and stay on with the headlights also one of my reverse lights stays on when the headlights are on.
