Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Water Leak Into Driver Side Floor Pan
I have fixed all draining issues, sunroof, fender liners... However I am still trickling water into the drivers side floor pan. I can't see the source.
View 18 RepliesPhaeton :: Water Leak In Cabin Foot Well While Blowing Air Down There?
I went in for an oil change and told them to visually inspect the car for a water leak. There was another phaeton in the shop with a water problem that was costing the customer thousands so I thought they might be able to see a red flag. I get the car back and they told me they blew air through the sunroof vents.
I've had the passenger foot well carpet up to monitor the floor to see if water has been leaking since I sealed around a couple batter terminal points that went through the firewall, and it had been dry.
But I had a feeling blowing that air through the vents might have dislodged the hose from the connector, so I put some water through the sunroof vent, and it totally started pouring into the footwell. It had NEVER done that when pouring water through the sunroof vent when I was diagnosing it before.
I feel like the dealer made the problem worse by blowing air down there, and now the dash is probably going to have to come out, and i'm assuming they will make me pay for it.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Coolant Leak On Passenger Side - Water Pump?
So my coolant system woes have continued! I recently replaced my thermostat ,thermostat housing, thermostat cover and all of the rings and gaskets. I finally stopped the leak on the driver side which seem to be the thermostat now about seven days later I am experiencing leaking on the passenger side. I walked out from work today and noticed I pool of coolant under the car. I can't tell exactly where it's coming from but it's coming from one of the components that runs off of the large belt. I snapped a few pics from the bottom of the car I don't think this is the actual component that's leaking. I think the leak is just falling off of it . I was wondering where the water pump is located.
View 5 RepliesSonata I45 (YF - 2011+) :: Water Leak Inside Cabin - Clogged A/C Drain?
For the past couple of days i've had condensation on the windshields during cold mornings and nights and thought something was up. I looked around and found the carpet on the driver's side of my car is damp and there was a puddle of water directly underneath the seat. I've read it might be a clogged AC drain or something like that. Some solutions seem to be either blowing the AC drain underneath the car with compressed air to get rid of a clog, or finding the tube inside the car and properly reconnecting it incase it got dislodged or kinked somehow. Or does this sound like a different problem? Again only the driver's side carpet seems to be wet.
View 1 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - Stalling / Dies After Long Trips - Leak In Water Pump
I have a 2.0l Jetta that has been giving me problems for about a year now.
First, the car started dying out on me after long trips at en excessive rate where it would shut off and have trouble starting multiple times consistently. So I got the fuel lines cleaned, a new fuel filter, the fuel pump checked, and did a basic tune up by changing the sparks and oil.
Still the same problem. after some troubleshooting i gave up and decided to take it to the stealer dealer. after a $130 diagnostic fee and a $300 repair fee they told me that they had fixed it by replacing a speed sensor in the transmission. the car was noticeably running better and did not stall during the short driving i did. I am a student so not much driving was done initially. A couple of months later i took a ~150 mile trip and upon stopping at a red light and trying to go once the light turned green the car stalled.
I took it back to the dealer that told me they would check if the speed sensor was faulty. it was not and they could not refund me my money. i paid for another diagnostic for another $130 and this time they said it was a bad coil pack, a $400 repair fee that i was not going to pay. i went out and got myself a coil pack and installed it myself. still the same problem.
I met a guy that worked for the dealer and had the same tech as the dealers so i took the car to him. he had it for 2 days and drove it for over 80 miles to test run it. he could no replicate the problem and just charged me 80 dollars just for his time.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and I read on these forums a couple of common solutions to the problem such as changing cam,crank,speed sensors etc etc and i started out with the crank..then speed...etc etc.
2 days ago my water pump had been leaking and i believe the antifreeze caused the timing belt to slip about 3 teeth in the middle of driving. luckily no bent valves or any damage to the engine but i did have the push the car about half a mile. After a 5 hour job i replaced the pump and the timing belt along with the cam sensor. I drove it around 70 miles and everything seemed fine. just yesterday i drove around 120 miles and the car had a small stall about 50 miles in when i was at a red light. The rest of the trip it ran fine. As i got to my apartments I decided to see if i could replicate the stall since the engine was hot. I stopped and waited around 10 seconds and then stepped on the gas, the car did almost stall but it stayed on since i let go of the gas. I tried it again and it would no longer do it.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2000 - Sunroof Leak / Water Overflows The Tray Runs Down To Driver Side C Pillar
So as the title says the sunroof in my 2000 Jetta is leaking. I've taken down a, b, and c pillars, and the headliner. Poured water in the drain tray and no noticeable leak.. however when I spray it with the hose, the water overflows over the drain tray at the drain ends and into the car like Niagara falls. I've check all the connections, pinched open the plugs. I've already replaced the sunroof seal, which was noticeably shrunken. The new one fits snug all around but I'm still getting the leak. The water (from what i can tell) over flows the tray, runs down the headliner to the drivers side C pillar and then down into the trunk where the cd changer / safety kit was. I usually park uphill, and the one time I parked down hill and sprayed it with the hose the water was "Niagara falling" into my passenger seat.
View 4 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 - Cabin Water Leak - Small Puddle In Driver Side Rear Floor Corner
My 1999 F150 Supercab has developed a water leak which I would like to ask your opinions on. Parked on a 20 degree incline during a pouring rain yesterday, I came out to find a small puddle in the driver's side rear floor corner and about an ounce of water pooled in a little lip at the bottom of the rear window in the right corner of the window! Haven't started tearing anything apart yet (and might not be able to myself), but it seems that it is possibly the rear window seal as the window and the outside body area appear to be in good shape otherwise (no visible rust, no seal obviously dislocated, etc).
Also, don't know if it's related, the other day I jacked up the truck with a floor jack under the front crossmember but a bit off center which caused the truck to twist a bit before both wheels came off the ground. While doing this, I heard and felt a loud bang like something broke in the frame! Couldn't see anything out of place and something similar has happened before where a lug of the jack cup had shifted slightly while jacking the vehicle and it caused a loud bang to be heard, but this time it didn't quite feel like it was at the jack but further back.
Could something have "broken" in the truck that I can't quite see and thus this leak has occurred which wasn't there previously or could it just be coincidence that the bang and leak occurred so close in time to each other. I know it's hard to diagnose something like this without seeing the vehicle or really know what happened but I just had to put it out there as part of the events that occurred within the timeline for this leak.
Golf/GTI VI :: Rain Water Runs Into Cabin From The Roof?
It seems to rain every afternoon here lately, but by the time I get out to my car it's still quite hot. So I roll the windows down a little, and start to pull out of my parking space. However, as soon as the car moves, rain water just rolls right off the roof and comes pouring inside. There is a little lip between the roof and the top of the door line but that doesn't seem to be stopping it...does it have anything to do with the paint being new and still slippery? I've waxed my old mkIII GTI numerous times and never had an issue like this though. It's quite annoying having the entire door card and my left arm soaked every time it rains and I 'forget' not to put the windows down right away
View 10 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Sort Of Suction Noise In The Cabin
So upon start up of my 2003 Jetta GLI 24v VR6 I hear a noise in the cabin. Its hard to describe but almost sounds like suction of some sort. At hist i thought maybe the heat was on and the blower sounded weird but it was off. It does seem to increase or decrease wit RPM's and from drivers seat it almost sounds like its coming from glove box area. So maybe the car has no cabin filter? IDK I just bought the car and Im inexperienced with the VR6 platform.
View 3 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Coolant / Water Pump Leak On Incline Only
So I parked on an incline last night for ~an hour or so, and suddenly my coolant light came on and my reservoir was completely empty. Sure enough, all the coolant had leaked out of the car. I am sure it's the water pump, but it doesn't seem to be a complete failed one because I picked up and filled my car's reservoir back up today and it hasn't leaked at all.
My guess is the pump isn't bolted on right and on the incline, the gasket is breaking it's seal, or some oil dripped down onto it when on the incline and the gasket swelled.
Nonetheless, my dealership is covering it on Friday, and they said they finally are making them with metal housings instead of plastic, and recalls should be going out soon (win for the MKVI crowd).
Golf/GTI VI :: Door Seal Water Leak In Some Steady Rain
I took a road trip a week ago and on the way home ran into some steady but not heavy rain. I thought I noticed water leaking in the driver's door out of the corner of my eye and when I swiped the top of the door with my hand sure enough, it was wet. The passenger door leaked a little onto the seat, too.

I installed the non-resonated exhaust, but I noticed that some air/water condensation is coming out of the small pipe that join the cat and non resonated part of the exhaust.
I double checked the position of the small part and is very deep inside the other tubes, plus I checked the clamps too.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2001 / VR6 - Water In Gas
I just bought a 2001 Jetta with a VR6 with water in the gas. So far I've drained the tank (got probably 20oz of water out of the 3gal of gas) and put in fresh gas, replaced the fuel pump and the spark plugs. When I disconnect the return line I'm now getting nice clean gas but it will not fire. Although it will fire on ether. Anything else i should do? I have the full version of VCDS and am not getting any codes.
View 2 RepliesCamry :: Water Slosh Sound Under Dash - No Water Leak On Carpet
There is water sound under dash. I read about clogged drain so I tried sticking up a thin rod from drain line and gets stopped after some length. Should I force it up (push, hit harder) or will that break something? Is there a angle bend?
I did not get a water leak on carpet yet but the sound is getting more so more water collecting? What should I do next?
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Water In Manual Transmission Oil
Having a problem with water being in the manual transmission oil? I ended up having to drain the oil because 3rd gear started grinding again and it ended up being water in there again. I drained it into a milk jug with the top cut off and let it separate and there was a little over an inch of water in it at the bottom.
Is there possibly a bad deal or something because that seems like way more than a little bit of condensation especially since the oil was changed not too long ago. Also it does not leak anything so I'm not sure where it would be coming from.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Water Under Carpet - Fix?
I purchased a 03 Jetta tdi a couple of weeks back. The grey cloth interior was in bad shape, so I bought a 04 as a parts vehicle with a good interior, heated leather etc. Yesterday while remove the seats and carpet and underlayment. I discover that the underlayment foam is soaked in the front and it damp in the rear. I am trying to figure out where the water is coming from. I will be checking my sunroof drains. I found one of the plastic stops in the floor cracked so i will replace those.
View 2 RepliesPassat (B5) :: 1998 - Water In The Cabin
Excellent forums. New to this but just picked up a 1998 Passat that had a few problems. Problem I am now looking to solve is water in the cabin. Some of it was getting in through ros door that was jammed shut because the bottom was full of glass and debris blocking the drain holes but there also appears to be some getting in the front. The glove box is a little damp. My guess is that it has something to do with the pollen filter seal that I have read of. Can't find any advise re this or a recall (P9) that is referred to.
Need to then fix the exhaust that is blowing, clean it up and I'll have a solid, reliable car ready for the winter.
Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Water Leaking Both Sides In Rear
Water leaks on both sides of the headliner and c pillars? I'm in the process of re-doing my headliner and I've not noticed that there is water leaking from both sides in the rear of the vehicle. It seems that the headliner board is touching the window a little bit, could it just be condensation? If not, what is it and how do i fix it?

Dried out the carpet and underlay siliconed the bonnet release cable gromet and the electrical box next to it. the drains on both sides under the scuttle panel are clear. 1 week later the water is back again i noticed when i washed the car that there was foam on the top of the scuff panel on the in side of the car and on the seat adjuster.
Is my door seal gone? There is no water anywhere else in the car just at the drivers side foot well. at the wear pad area under the pedals. 3 door no sun roof.....
