Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Creaking In Rear Passenger Side Wheel Area

I have a creaking in the rear passenger side wheel area. Checked the anti sway bar that was not the problem I have no clue what it could be.

Touareg :: Rear Wheel Moved To Front Passenger Side During Rotation

I recently had my 20k mile service done which included a tire rotation. Perhaps my understanding of a tire rotation is incorrect but I noticed the rear passenger side wheel was moved to the front passenger side. If the tires were left on the original rims as is, that means it was simply moved from the rear to the front. Is this right? The reason I noticed this is because I have a little curb rash on my rear passenger side rim which now is up front.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Grinding Sound From Rear Wheel

So its been about 2 months since this grinding sound started whenever Im going under 40km/h on my Mk IV Jetta.

Brake pads/rotors that is causing this or something else?

There is a metal/rubber friction smell when I park and get out of the car... It also drifts to the right a little and the alignment was done about 6months ago. I'm guessing its related to the rear breaks or I could be wrong?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Rear Passenger Side Wheel Wasn't Spinning

Upon putting on my winter wheel i was checking if the bolts were too long and my rear passenger side wheel wasn't spinning. I took the wheel off and checked the rotor and it took a lot of force to spin because the caliper didn't go back. I took the brake fluid line out hoping it would decompress the caliper and it did not, and brake fluid leaked out a tiny bit. This leads me to believe that my caliper is bad. Just want to make sure before I order another one

Golf V R32 :: Creaking Sound While Turning Steering Wheel

I know this can bring many speculations. I've recently install new 034 strut mounts and new bearings. Stiffer mounts and the new bearings took care of the "compression" noise going over bumps. The bearings were shot.

Just returned from a trip, driving the R now I've notice a slight creaking noise while making left or right full turns at slow speed. I haven't noticed it at high speed yet or maybe its because our cars are pretty loud with an aftermarket exhaust but i don't suspect there's noise going straight.

I tried to see if there's anything out of the ordinary. I noticed that the driver side spring moves slight while the steering wheel is turned either left or right. I suspect that this slight movement is causing the spring to rub on a rubber component of the wheel bearing thus causing the noise.

Golf/GTI VI :: 2010 - Creaking Noise When Wheel Turned All The Way Right?

Today in a parking lot I was going very slowly (like barely moving), turning the car to the right (didn't have the steering wheel pinned but it was just about there), and I heard this faint creaking noise (think rocking chair in an attic) coming from somewhere roughly down near the left front wheel. I can reproduce it by doing the same thing -- going slow and turning hard right. It doesn't do it when I make a sharp left turn. I don't see anything strange in the wheel well that would be rubbing.

Any thoughts? Been going over some rough construction areas lately. Could a pothole have done this?

Golf/GTI VI :: Chassis Creaking When Turning Wheel At Idle

Coming from somewhere in the front half of the car, but I am not able to isolate to left, right or center. Jacked it up yesterday and sprayed WD40 on the sway bar bushings to see if it fixes it - nope. There doesn't seem to be any shifting in the strut towers. Haven't checked the subframe bolts yet. No creaking when front end is jacked so, only under load.

Started happening a few weeks after I installed the DG springs so not sure if it's connected or not. I made sure to replace all the stretch bolts as indicated and the job went smoothly.

Sound is like an old door's metal hinges type of creak. Creaks across the whole turning radius, which makes me think it's not the suspension but subframe or some other loose mount?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Creaking When Pushing In And Releasing The Clutch

I have done some research, but have found no one with the same noise as I am having. My clutch is creaking when pushing in and releasing the clutch. It does not sound like it is coming from the pedal. I have had a new clutch and transmission replace within the past 18 months. Someone mentioned the creak could be "dust on the slave cylinder." What this could be? Should I be worried? It shifts perfectly find and rides fine.

Golf IV R32 :: Creaking Or Squeaking Noise From Front Suspension When Turn The Wheel

Quick question : I just noticed a strange "creaking" or "squeaking" coming from my front suspension when I turn the wheel back and forth - while having the car at a stand still in the driveway...

I'm assuming my Strut Mounts (bushings) and/or Strut Bearings have gone and need to be replaced? As the creaking sound really souds like it could be the rubber bushing buckling?...

I just want to be 100% sure this is my issue before ordering the parts. Need to confirm that this noise I'm hearing is bad mounts or bushings? Or is there something else I should take a look at before ordering the parts?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 Suspension Creaking / Clunking Noise

How to diagnose this creaking/clunking noise in my 03 Jetta TDI. It's only coming from the passenger side, and I primarily notice it at low speed on relatively uneven roads. I can replicate the noise by pushing up and down on the front passenger side corner.

For context, this started after I just recently replaced my front and rear suspension, plus some steering parts. I replace all four struts with Koni yellows, front CA bushings (with R32/TT), ball joints, tie rod ends, front strut bushings and bearings, and passenger side CV axle. In response to the noise, I also just did the front sway bar bushings, which definitely needed it, but didn't change the noise. I also removed the CV axle and re-greased the inner CV joint--to no avail.

Also, when I have the hood open and push up and down on the front of the car, I can see the cup where the top strut nut goes into will go up and down separate and apart from the body. The driver's side stays in line with the body when I try to the same on that side. Also, that cup is tight on the passenger side, whereas it will spin fairly freely on the drivers side. So, this has lead me to think that perhaps I didn't torque either or both of the top or inner strut nuts on the passenger side.

Here's a (fairly crappy) video of the noise/strut cup .....

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Weird Creaking Sound All The Time Except While Turning?

i started hearing this weird creaking noise about a month ago. When it started happening it would only occur at very low speeds and then it would stop, now it happens all the time unless i'm turning. I've heard it could be bushings but I'm not sure. What weirds me out is a lot of the time it'll stop either when I'm turning or if I shift into neutral.

Golf/GTI VI :: Rear Passenger Door Creaking?

I have a 4 door GTI and almost every time I hit some kind of bump I hear noises from the rear passenger side door. It sounds like the door is not completely latched on and it bouncing/wiggling inside the door jam. I've checked that the door is closed all the way and that there are no gaps in the panels or anything of that sort.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 - Front End Squeak / Creaking Usually At Slow Speeds

I have a 03 mkIV 2.0 with just over 106k miles. I have been noticing a sqeak/creaking noise coming from the front end usually at slow speeds and going over small bumps or even bad backroads. I can simply push down on the front of the car and hear it and it sounds just terrible. I took it to my local tire shop and they said it could be my sway bay links and bushings, but they look brand new and show no signs of deterioration. My struts and shocks are fine. Could it be ball joints or control arms?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2002 GTI Front End Creaking When Accelerate In Second Gear Right After Shifting

I purchased a 2002 gti in Febuary with 161k miles. I believe it was a couple weeks after I bought it - it started making this creaking sound. At first it was more rare to hear it but it occurred going on uneven surfaces like up a steep hill or around an uneven turn or even stopping and going. It basically happened when the front end pitched up/down. It sounds almost like a rubber creaking or even plastic. (Some sort of bushing maybe? I'm no expert) Now it is rare for it not to make the creaking when taking off or slowing to a stop. It only occurs at lower speeds like right when taking off or at the very end of the stop right before the actual stop.

It will even slightly make the noise when accelerating in second gear right after shifting. (This is occasional) When I come to a complete stop and turn the wheel side to side ot will make the sound for a couple of turns and then go away. I have tried rocking the car and pushing down on it to replicate the sound. No luck. I lubricated various bushings and parts with silicon. It seemed to fix it but it only lasted for a few hours. (This could've been coincidental) It doesn't make the sound 100% of the time though. Probably at least 90% though when coming to a stop and going. It seems as the environmental factors (Temp and humidity) have a small effect on the creaking. I have a neuspeed 25mm front swaybar with endlinks.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2003 GTI VR6 - Door Hinge Creaking / Popping Noise

Got a 03 GTI VR6 and my drivers door kept on making this creaking/popping noise(it is very similar to the creaking noise of a old wooden door or the sound you hear in horror movies but for a lot shorter duration). The sound seems to come up when I accelerate, break take off from a complete stop. I took the car into the dealership and they torqed some bolt on the hinge and the creaking went away. Not a month later the passenger door develops the same creaking. The dealer tries to torqe the bolt on the hinge again and they say it cant be done and that their body shop needs to replace the hinge. They paint a hinge for me and put it on but don't get the door adjustments right so I get a lot of wind noise. Finally they adjust the door right and all is well.

A while later the drivers door starts creaking again! I went to another dealership and did an oil change while I was away on a trip to Toronto and the service technician said he could lubricate the door gasket and that this will take the creaking away. So he did. Now granted that has taken the creaking away but after some rain and 2 car washes the creaking came back in full swing.

I call the dealership to set up an appointment and they refuse to look at the door saying that as far as they are concerned the vehicle is up to manufacturers specs and that they will need to get a VW rep to look at it. In the mean time I call the vw customer care which tells me that they contacted the dealer and that the dealer beleves that the car is up to manufacturers specifications and that the noise I am hearing is normal and that all the cars have this noise.

Now I owned an 02 Golf GL 2dr and never heard that sound. It's been a month and a half and neither the dealer or vw customer care have called to inform me when the VW area rep. will be coming to have a look at the issue. It looks like I hit a dead end with having my issue acknowledged and looked at. Is this really a standard noise on the mk4 2dr platforms ? How I should pursue this issue ?!? Anything ?!

Golf IV R32 :: Creaking And Moaning Coming From Rear Suspension

So I've had this moaning/creaking noise for the last few weeks that seems to be getting worse and worse. The noise is most noticeable when coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop - once at higher speeds it goes away... but when coming to a stop or slowly accelerating from a stop, the car literally sounds a pirate ship - kind of scared to keep driving without knowing exactly whats going on...

I've completely disassembled and reassembled the rear suspension multiple times and everything is lubricated, tight and proper....

Considering Ive looked at everything in the rear - Is there anyway possible that even though the sound seems to be coming from the rear - that maybe it could just be bad strut bearings or mount in the front? And maybe there is just some funny reason (some sort of audible illusion?) why I seem to be so certain about hearing the sounds from the rear and not the front?

Not sure about hearing a creaking/moaning noise from the rear - only to find out it was actually bad strut mounts or bearings in the front or maybe even bad front LCA bushings? I'm just a little lost and really unsure of what else could be causing this ridiculous noise..

Lexus GS 2006-11 :: Wheel Rotation Noise From The Front End

I've noticed intermittently (but seems to getting more frequent) a rubbing noise from the front end at speeds below 10mph. It seems to only happen only after reversing. The noise is on a rotation. Almost sounds like putting a baseball card on the spokes of your bike. As you pick up speed the noise goes away & does not occur for the remainder of the trip. Sounds like it's coming from the left wheel well.

Prius (Gen 3) :: Whopping Sound While Driving After Wheel Rotation

Sent my car for the regular 20,000km maintenance last month, which they did a tire rotation, i.e. switching front & back. After which, for the past month, while driving, I began to notice a "whopping" sound that seems to be going along with the wheel's rotation & seems to be getting louder.

My 1st suspect was that there may be some issues with the tires, however, there doesn't seem to be any abnormal vibration nor drift as far as the steering wheel's concerned, while the usual tire rolling resistance noise is still there. Just to be safe, I've decided to bring my car to the Toyota dealer for them to do a further analysis.
