View 9 RepliesCamry :: Rear Suspension Clunk Noise After Lowering Springs Installed
After having lowering springs installed, I've been noticing a clunk noise in the rear suspension when driving over dips in the road (eg. getting out of the parking lot onto the main road). It feels like having your wheels lifted in mid-air and being dropped onto the road.

When I looked at them a couple days ago I noticed that on the top of the original springs (I'd say first and maybe some of the second down) looked shiny and clean like it was making contact with the spiral above it. Could this be a warning sign of needing new springs or is this somewhat normal? The Car is a hair under 82k miles.

I had my dealer install a set of H&R springs the mild drop option. He put it on the rack and reset the alignment. I drove it and it pulls hard to the left. The car has never done this before. He then took everything back off recheck the suspension and found nothing wrong. He realigned the car and it still pulls hard left. The car is a 2007 Camry SE.

Installed eibach springs on the 7th gen camry? I installed mine this weekend, and I'm getting a like a rubbing sound when I turn the wheel from only the driver side. I removed the strut and spring combo to make sure everything was installed and aligned properly and it was. Just can't put my finger on why its only making that sound on the driver side.
View 9 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Springs Squeaking Noise When Standing Still
If I get in my car to hard or even when I'm in the car and rock back and forth while standing still it sounds like the springs squeak, kind of like a spring bed when getting it on. I don't hear it when I'm driving though.
View 8 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Clunking Noise After Installing Lowering Springs
So I installed the DG springs today, and it should've been a simple install. Well once all was said and done I took it for a test drive. Every time I go over a bump I hear a loud clunking noise, like somethings loose. What it could be? I'm pretty sure I tightened everything.

I am experiencing a bad clunking noise when going over bumps. Its comming from the passenger rear and I am assuming the springs collapsed. How can i tell for sure? The car is sitting a little lower on the corner. Is it bad to drive the car with the spring in this condition?

My R's only got 5,400 miles on it and I just lowered it Saturday on H&R Springs and when I turn my steering wheel like 3/4 either way it makes like a clunk noise at lower speeds only....any other part besides strut top mounts and bearings? It sounds like its coming from the right front.
View 9 RepliesGolf/GTI VI :: Installed GTI Sway Bar - Getting Clunking Noise
So I recently installed a GTI sway bar on my 2010 TDi and was getting a clunking noise. I assumed that it would be the subframe making noise since I've read a lot about that but the sway bar is actually rubbing on the front portion of subframe (the part that bolts to the frame directly above the A-arm). It's hardly touching it but its enough to wear into the bar.

Have the HPA SHS installed now. Everything is aligned. Getting the worst clunk noise when moving the car backwards. The noise comes from the front right. Clunking with slight vibration felt in steering wheel. Also clunks when straightening out the wheel to move forward. The noise stops once I start going. What could cause this?
View 24 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Knocking Noise When Installed New Motor
Okay just installed a newer 24v into my existing 24v VR6 GTI both with 135k. I have heard the motor run before it was pulled and sold to which sounded fine. Upon receiving the motor I put new timing chains, guides, headgasket and new gaskets all around. The timing was right on the mark and I tightened everything up to torque spec and I'm getting this noise which sounds like it's from the timing cover area. A code just popped on which I'm going to scan as soon as I get my hands on one. The car was running great for about 20 minute and I shut it off then turned it back on about 5 minutes later and experiencing these scary noises. I tried pulling each individual coil with no results to get the noise away. What could this be?

Golf IV R32 :: Rear Sway Bar Installed Correctly But Makes Noise
So after about 3k on my rear sway I checked everything to make sure its tight. All is tight, but i notice it moves very little but its enough to make noise and drive me nuts. hard to explain but if you see the h&r bar it has very small allen head screws inside a ring that keep the bar in place where it bolts to the frame there is only a 1/16 of an inch or so of play and its driving me nuts.

I have a 2012 mk6 and did stage 1 APR about 3 months ago and loved every single moment of it. It made a huge difference on the car but like all good things they don't last forever so it was time to move to bigger, better things so I went stage 2 this weekend ( apr stage 2 carbonio, APR downpipe and reflash ). I installed it at a VW dealer in Mount Prospect, IL, same place where I got my stage 1 installed.
When I drove off with the car everything seemed to be just fine and the gains were noticeable. Later on as I was cruising I started hearing a rattling noise coming from the front of the car, right under the DSG shifter. I was thinking it could be one of the clamps that was used to install the DP, I didn't get a chance to look under the car yet. What it might be? This morning when I turned on the car, I did not hear the rattle...
Golf V R32 :: Rear Sway Installed And Now Knocking Noise Coming From Passenger Side

Now I am getting a knocked noise coming from the rear passenger side. after driving it for a day or so i check under the car to make sure nothing loosened up and everything was just how it was when i installed it. What the issue could be, but the noise is really annoying.

Im not leaking brake fluid anywhere, and everything is hooked up and fastened properly.

View 17 RepliesGolf IV R32 :: Making Noise While Angling Out?
Trying to isolate a troubling noise from the back. The ONLY place the car makes this sound is angling out of my driveway, which I always do to avoid scraping. This twists the car along its length, because the last bit of the driveway slopes down into the street beyond, and the street goes uphill to the right. So it's down one angle while heading up another. It's a loud heavy snap/clunk, like something unloading tension. I think.
Have a UNIbrace in place, took it out for a while, no change. Next to investigate is RSB doing something. I'm thinking I should just undo the end links so the bar is not in play... then if that sound is still there I know that's not what's causing it.
But... do I want the weight of the car off the wheels to undo the end links (top bolt that doesn't go through the shocks, of course). Or does it not matter? I don't wanna release tension abruptly (speaking of which) by undoing incorrectly and have something go boing and smack me in the face. OR, I guess the proper way to ask is "What's the correct way to take load OFF the RSB so I can undo the end links?"
