Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: When Shifting From First To Second Gear Car Makes Whistle / Whine Noise

I bought a new corolla 2009, automatic transmission (Not Robotic!) From the first day, when shifting from first to second gear the car makes an unnatural noise, like a whistle or a whine. (during shifting and sometimes a little bit before).

It only happens in the transition from first to second. It does not depend on the RPM at the moment. When the engine is cold, in the morning, the sound is still there, but weaker, when the engine warms up, the sound keeps appearing for the rest of the day. (I live in a country with a hot climate)

I have been told, 2009 model has the same transmission just as previous models, is it true? or there have been some changes in it?

Ford Audio/Video System :: Sirius Whistle / Whine Through System?

So i have this whistle/wine through my system when running the Sirius thingy. It seems to correlate with rpm... Higher the rpm... higher pitched the whine/whistle...

The pitch of the whistle almost matches my turbo whistle. The Sirius is powered through the cigar lighter port. Aux audio 3.5mm cord from Sirius to the stereo head.

Ford - Explorer :: 1996 - Rear Differential Was Leaky / Loud Whine Noise In Rear

Well i picked up a 96 4x4 with the 4.0 a few weeks ago and been fixing stuff weekly that i find wrong. One thing i noticed was the rear diff was leaky but couldn't get the fill plug out so left if for now. Last night my wife was on interstate and it just started making a loud noise so she pulls over calls me. I get there and drive it and it makes a woowoowoo noise and it got louder as speed increased. She was 3 miles from the exit so i drove it about 15-20 to get it off interstate than another 2 miles to her sisters. We let it sit for a few hours and found a flatbed to haul it home, and when we finally got home i drove it off the flat bed and now it was making a loud clunky noise. Parked it in drive till today. Cracked open the rear and no fluid came out.

Inspecting all the gears looked good no metal in bottom so i went and got a new rear cover and 3 qt. of fluid. Put it back together and the woowoowoo was still there but seemed to slowly go away as i drove it around the block. So what else could be going on here or do i need to drive it and warm up the fluid so it circulates? I also noticed a sheeee sound like metal on metal when braking but i changed all 4 rotors and both pads last week but i noticed the brakes in the rear that look like drum brakes was bare but i assume that is only for the ebrake so didn't bother changing them yet. Could those be hitting the inside of the rotor and making the metal to metal noise?

Sierra :: 2000 5.3 Sierra Suddenly Overheated In Cold Weather Then Fine

A friend of mine has had this 2000 Sierra since new. It has just over 100K and never had any cooling issues before. Last week when it was about 10 below zero she drove it home and it overheated and pumped a couple quarts of antifreeze overboard.

She refilled it the next day and it was fine but got it looked at by a local independent mechanic. I had told her that it was likely a sticky thermostat and it ought to be changed out anyways due to its age. The mechanic thought I was wrong and that she had driven it off to quickly in the super cold weather.

Gmc - Sierra :: 2000 - Rear Differential Seemed To Seize Up While Driving

2000 GMC Sierra, just over 200k, 4.8L, 4WD. Son was driving and the rear differential seemed to sieze up. Internal casing was destroyed, so got a replacement. Matched the size using the code inside the glove box (something similar to GT4 in both vehicles - it matched exactly). Attached video shows the sound that is coming from the rear of the truck. This noise happens on deceleration. Can drive at least 20MPH and let off the gas. Truck begins shaking at 45MPH. There is no feeling of loss of power or anything negative besides the sound on deceleration.

Important note, this sound was present before we changed the differential guts, and is absent when in 4WD. We only hear the sound when the truck is in 2WD.

GMC - Sierra :: 2001 - Won't Start When The Engine Is Hot

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra with a starting problem: When you've driven it long enough for the engine to reach about 210 degrees, if you stop the truck it won't start back up until the engine has cooled down to about 200. It only does this when it's over 80 degrees outside, though.

GMC - Sierra :: 1999 - Rear Drive Terrain / Differential Noise On Acceleration

I have a 1999 GMC Sierra. The rear differential cover was leaking on me for past couple of months, but I was putting it off. FInally this weekend my truck starting making an airplane sound that seemed to be coming from the rear. The sound happened on acceleration only, and increased in amplitude and frequency as the speed increased and as I pressed the gas more. If I let go of the gas, or let it cruise, then the sound would sputter once or twice, and go away. It would resume if I pressed on the gas again.

Since the rear differential cover was leaking, I thought I burned out the gears. When I changed the cover, the gears appeared to be fine. The lubricant was super low, and did smell burned out though. I refilled the fluid and put a new cover on. This did not solve my noise problem though.

Is it still the rear differential that is making the noise? Is it something else? How hard is it, and how involved is it to replace the rear differential? Can I replace its components, and which ones?

GMC - Sierra :: 2006 - Front End Vibration / Grease Leaking Out Of Rear Seal Of Hub

I have a 2006 gmc sierra, 4x4, 1/2 ton, has 155,000 miles on it. I recently changed both front hubs on my truck. They didn't have any play in them just noise. I had one new front hub that was leaking grease out of the rear seal. I took that one back off and got a new one. Must have had a bad rear seal. Now I'm getting a front end vibration at highway speeds. Between 70-75mph. It gets worse when turning left when highway turns. It goes completely away when turning right at highway speeds. It doesn't shake in the steering wheel. Feels like its coming from the left front area or left front tire. More in the floor boards. So i rotated my tires, and its not as bad but still is there in the same spot. I've checked everything.

Cv axles have no tears in the boots and aren't spinning out any grease. I turn the steering back and fourth while the truck was on the ground and I didn't notice any play in any of the front end components. The only thing I did notice was the passenger side inner tie rod boot had a bunch of grease built up on it. But the boot was actually full. Could one of the bad wheel bearings caused something else to go bad? Warped rotor? Truck doesn't shake or vibrate when braking either.

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Wind Whistle Sound That Appears To Come From Left Front Of Car

Our Elantra is 2003 2.0L GLS which has now done 117000 km.

We are very pleased with it. However, the "shock wave" pushed ahead by an oncoming truck can cause a sudden wind whistle - more like a loud shreak that appears to come from the left front of the car.

It can be quite un-nerving when it occurs. It can also be triggered by strong head or cross winds.

Golf IV R32 :: Rear Differential Whine?

So I have the dreaded rear diff whine, which started about a month (1000 miles) ago. I've read a bunch of the past posts, but still can't find a solution other than a) live with it, or b) spend $3500 for a whole new diff. (95k miles - no warranty) It seems the general consensus is that the problem stems from a loosened pinion nut. Is there no way to just tighten the nut? Or if I do will the whine continue because the gears are now worn? BTW I just had all the diff and tranny fluids changed. Made no difference.

Truck is an extended cab, 8' box, 4x4

Ford - Explorer :: 2003 Whine At Rear End Between 50 To 65 MPH

I have a 2003 explorer with 6000 original miles, the truck was only used to go to the corner store by my past in laws, the tires which I have just replaced were the original Michelin with the date code 0303, the problem I am having is a fairly loud whine/hum during acceleration between 50mph and 65mph, I live in the Florida keys and trust worth mechanics are far and few between so I brought it to my Ford dealer which I buy body parts from all the time, after a test drive the service adviser said that they will have to remove the pumpkin put it on the bench and inspect it, I said ok, they called me back into the shop and showed me the unit, the tech said that I had metal filings in the unit and it was out of alignment, I saw the filings, which included the ring, pinion all inner bearings, the two outer shaft bearings and the two dust seals and oil, I verified this and the price seams to be right....my question is the labor they want to charge me 8 hrs to do the work. The rear end is a 355, not Limited and not traction.

Ford Escape / Hybrid :: 2001 - Loud High Pitch Whistle / Whirling Sound When Accelerating

My girlfriend has a 2001 Ford Escape 3L, 6cyl. When accelerating there is a loud high pitch whistle/whirling sound. The sound varies with the amount of throttle you give it. More throttle = louder whine. Doesn't seem to do it when idling or coasting. What that could be? I'm about to remove the belt and take a look at the drive belt tensioner and other pulleys.

Just checked pulleys and tensioner and the tensioner seems fine, a/c pulley spins smooth and free no play, alternator spins smooth no play. The belt needs to be replaced. I wouldn't think this would cause such a load whistle under acceleration. I would expect it to do it all the time if it was the belt. I'm looking at the water pump pulley and belt too and they seem ok as well.

Lexus GX 2004-09 :: Rear Axle Whine Above 70mph?

Experienced a rear axle whine above 70mph? I've noticed a whine while just slightly on the gas above 70mph (maintaining speed). Does the GX have a regular ring and pinion set up or is it a more complicated affair?

Golf IV R32 :: Rear Diff Started To Whine On Deceleration

My rear diff had recently started to whine on decel, what I am looking to find out is, would replacing the stock rear diff itself with a peloquin unit be enough of a fix, or should the whole rear housing be replaced as well? I don't want to buy a peloquin rear diff and install it and still have issues because of the pinion shaft being the culprit or something else.

Lexus RC F 2015+ :: High Pitched Whine From Rear End - Car Has Been Off For Hours

Car was in the garage. Had been off for hours. Husband noticed a high pitched whine coming from the rear of the car. Louder underneath. I opened the trunk and took out everything in the cargo net (thought something had gotten stuck in it, a gadget of some kind). Nothing there. I went to unhook the net and pull up the mat etc. and the noise stopped (coincidence I'm sure). I couldn't find anything. It didn't sound like it was coming from the wing at all (had trouble with wing being stuck down when I first got it).

Golf VI R :: Rear Whine Sounds More Like Dump Truck Slowing Down When Go Over 45 Mph

So as the title states I'm getting a rear whine sounds more like a dump truck slowing down, anytime I go over 45 mph. I have an appointment tomorrow morning with VW to get it diagnosed and hopefully fixed.

I've checked and properly inflated my tires and there is still decent tread left. As far as I've seen it could be the rear diff or harmonic balancer.

I recently got my car tuned (apr stg I) and I'm lowered on neuspeed race springs with matched bilsteins. I doubt either of those would have any impact on my issue though.
