GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Lost Power / Low Input - Codes P0342 And P0102

I am getting the following trouble codes:

P0342 cam position sensor A bank 1 Ckt Low Input
P0102 MAF or VAF A Ckt Low Input

The accessory belt moves when I try to start it, but my timing belt stays still, but is kind of tight/very little slack.

It died on the highway, was in gear and it just lost power.

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: No Driving Power Suddenly In Any Of Gears Including Reverse

So while I was in gear i felt a thunk and suddenly the car had no driving power in any of the gears including reverse. Pulled over popped the hood and checked my linkage. Everything was still connected as far as i could tell. Had my buddy watch the linkage while i shifted through the gears, everything checked out normal. While in gear the car still rolls so obviously something internally isn't jivin. Haven't gotten under it yet, doubt that will tell me anything. 130k miles had her for less than a year haven't gotten around to picking up a bentleys yet. I'll grab one tomorrow since nothings open today.

So, when i throttle down i get a hissing noise, almost like a very small jet engine. then when i let off the throttle I get the psh psh psh psh noise and not the solid pssshhh noise. What might it be? I was thinking pcv breather, or DV, but i dont want to go just replacing parts. I have the 04 gli 1.8t ....

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Car Sputters Around Half Throttle / 10 PSI

Yesterday, I was taking off from a light and noticed that when I got around 10 PSI, the car kind of nosed over and sputtered. So I started to play around and discovered that no matter what gear, this always happened between 7-12 PSI of boost. Normal driving for me is shifting around 3k RPM, about half throttle. Sometimes when I shift, it pops. Not like a normal, chipped car pop but not quite loud enough to be a backfire.

I took my dad out in the car and got to 55 MPH, then held the throttle half way to keep boost around 10 PSI and it would start sputtering/bogging down erratically. Any more then 12, and the car is fine. Any less then 7 and the car is fine. He suggested a Throttle Position Sensor that has a dead spot in it.

Here's some thought from me:

Coils/Misfires - If it were a coil or misfiring, it would be all the time, not just what I described above, correct?

Boost Leak - At WOT, the car gets up and goes while holding steady boost.

Vac Leak - I've been told at idle, the car is supposed to have 19-21 in Hg of vacuum. It's at 20.

If you turn your speakers up, you can actually hear the exhaust gurgling in the video when I hit the spot I am talking about. There are no loud noises, so don't worry about maxing them. I had to.

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Lost All Throttle And EPC / ASR Light Appeared

Getting onto the freeway, not putting the gas to the floor or anything, my throttle completely cut out on me and the EPC and ASR light came on. Turned off the engine, let it sit, and it fired right back up with no lights on.

Replaced the valve cover gasket recently and had a somewhat rough idle since, not sure if the coil over isn't all the way down but will investigate soon.

So my car is throwing a P0172 and when I start to get into the throttle, I get hesitation. I have replaced the plugs and the coil packs, and I tried unplugging the MAF which just made the car run worse. What could it be? Boost leak? Something else?

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Partial Throttle / Surging Usually In 2nd Gear

I've noticed this when driving for a while now but was never really sure what was causing it. It was usually in 2nd gear and the car would sorta surge on and off boost almost. yesterday i found out that it only occurred when i gave my car partial throttle. It would build boost, let off, build again etc. Full throttle and it was not a problem at all. My car is an 04.5 GLI chipped / 3" exhaust etc etc and would like to know what I can do with this problem.

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: 2004 1.8T - Half Throttle Boost / Little Hesitation At 5 PSI

I have a 04' Jetta 1.8T (AWP) my mods are APR Chip (91octane program) Forge 007 DV, APR TIP, NGK spark plugs, catback exhaust. This issue I am having pretty much started when i got it chipped and I've got it reflashed and I've even talked to people at APR and they are saying that it couldn't be a software issue. Anyhow the problem I am having is at partial throttle my car kind of hesitates a little at 5psi and when i let of the gas the car kind of hiccups a little.. but if i really punch it in every gear i hit 21-22psi no problem, the problem happens when I am driving normal and its really annoying.

I have switched several different N75 valves, I am running the stock one now, I've switched different DV's, i have switched my spark plugs and even put at APR turbo inlet pipe and i have checked for boost/vacuum leaks, I have no CEL...all this hasn't resolved my problem.. I don't know what else to do..

I was thinking about switching my MAF to see if it works, but then again if it was my MAF im sure I would have a CEL. I also was thinking about putting my N75 valve backwards even the DV backwards to see if it works?

It sounds real bad while actually driving... some weird ticking noise and It's not a rod or an exhaust leak cause I couldn't find one or any of the shops I brought it to. What this could be? I'm tired of it sounding like a subaru. It has a 3 inch tb exhaust and f4t frankenturbo setup with 415cc software and injectors. I'm aware that this is a common issue for the MK4 and I'm looking for some closure on what the exact issue could be. Whenever I drive my car on a bumpier back road I feel like the car is sputtering and surging whenever I hit a bump and it's very noticeable with the exhaust on my car. Once on the highway the car lost all power for about 3 seconds and then it started working again. I think it might be the coil packs or the fuel pump but I don't want to buy things the car doesn't need. Where to start?

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Clutch Disengagement - Cannot Go Into Gear While Driving

So after replacing my shift forks in my 20th, installing a new clutchmasters fx100 clutch kit with a LWFW I've become a victim of the typical clutch disengagement issue.

In a nut shell car doesn't go into gear while the car is running. System is fully bled with no leaks and a brand new slave installed supplied by CM.

My understanding is the early FML code o2ms in the 20ths can not make use of the NLS shim kit and a stainless line is not a 100% fix.

Who's solved their disengagement issues and how?

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: AC Cuts Out While Driving In Stop And Go Traffic

so, I'm driving home the other day in stop and go 102 degree traffic, and my A/C cuts out. I thought maybe my compressor took a dump, because I've noticed a little noise from that side of the engine. Then I look down, and notice my water temp is like 240-250ish. As soon as traffic starts up again, temp goes down to normal, and A/C comes back.

I have a 2 mile commute to work, so it hasn't happened since then.

no DTC's, no rad fan. A/C fan works. Put 12V to fan - no worky. fuse block on top of battery not melted.

Obviously I need a fan, but I was wondering about something else. since this started, my car gets to normal operating temp (NOT), in literally under 2-3 minutes. I know its Texas and a billion million degrees, but I think that's too fast.

Green top coolant temp sensor, and metal impeller water pump already installed.

When I'm driving and the clutch is slipping a bit ( i.e. starting from a stop) I feel very noticeable vibration. Is that a sign the clutch is starting to do? I feel like a year ago it was smoother action, and I barely had to give it gas to get started ( could start with clutch action mostly).

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Engine Failure While Driving - Cylinder 1 Misfire

I am having this failure in my engine that is making me crazy while I am driving. Yesterday i took my car to a shop to see what was it. my MAF was gone ( I replaced it ) and the failure still going on. The mechanic connected his computer in my car and we went for a ride. HE told me cylinder 1 misfire.

This is what i did.

-change spark-plugs position (failure still)
-change coilpack (failure still)

What can i do ?

-clean injectors
-check for any carbon in valves

GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Boost Drop After Popping Noise When Driving

Was driving when I heard a pop n my boost dropped. Normally run 17 psi but my boost gauge is now only reading it's pushing 4psi. There is no smoke coming out my exhaust or anything, when I had it scanned it read it was a bad pressure sensor in the inter cooler so I replaced the sensor cleared the code took it for a drive n the same thing happened...check engine light came back on n still running like crap.
