Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Vibration At 70 MPH / Heavy Rumbling
I have an issue with a truck I recently purchased. I have a vibration that starts around 50, feels like a wobbling vibration. Than once I hit 75 it feels like the truck is going to fall apart. Heavy rumbling.
It's a Ford F-350 dually extended cab. With 115,000 miles on it.
I took it to the shop to balance out the wheels and all the wheels needed atleast 2 oz of weighs on each side. Some have as much as 4.75 oz on one side. Is it possible that I need 6 brand new rims?
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Strong Vibration Like Shuddering / Growling And Rumbling In 2WD Intermittently
My 2000 f250 4x4 V10 5spd manual with LSD and 63k mi gets an intermittent but very strong vibration like a shuddering, growling, rumbling in 2WD. The 1st time it only lasted about 1 second. It had been making a swooshing noise that sounded like front left wheel bearing for several thousand miles before this, so i replaced bearing assembly even though it turned smoothly.
After that, It still made the exact same swooshing noise and after a couple miles at 45mph, it had the strong vibration/shudder that lasted about 3 seconds. I stopped and locked the hubs manually. The vibration happened again in a couple miles, so seems like it's not the needle bearings in front stub shafts or locking hubs. On that last occurrence, the vibe went on for 5 seconds, felt the same with clutch in, and went away only after truck slowed down to nearly a stop. I've driven it about 6 mi total since the 1st occurrence.
Front right Wheel bearings feel smooth. I unbolted the driveshaft support bearing and it spins smoothly. The front u-joint maybe had a tiny bit of play, all bolts tight. I didn't check the nuts for yokes, but it didn't look like yokes had any play. Drive shaft slip joint moves smoothly. No up-down play at pinion shaft input into rear diff and output from transfer case. Rear diff oil was full with a little bit of silvery sludge on the magnetic filler plug, maybe 1/10 of a cc, no metals slivers or chunks. I raised the rear wheels and ran 5th gear 2WD at idle (~30mph) and touched a 4' listening stick to the drivetrain components.
The only odd sounds were from the rear differential. It sounded like a bad bearing with random crunches and thuds mixed in with the normal whirring. Crunches and thuds were loudest at front of diff housing. I blocked one wheel and repeated in 3rd gear. You could hear noise like gears meshing (noisy spider gears? maybe was LSD clutches?). The differential was warm after 5-10 minutes, with the hottest area being about 3" from the front of diff, just before the housing widens.
So, I'm guessing the pinion bearing is bad and the intermittent shudder is the bearing race spinning in the case when bearing seizes.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Rumbling At Idle / Sounds Like Metal On Metal Vibration
Just last night, out of the blue, I've got an odd rumble at idle. The noise goes away under load and any time the rpm's are up over ~1300. It sounds like metal on metal vibration, but I don't see any loose exhaust parts.
I've looked at threads saying possibly a broken flex plate. Other than the noise, would there be any other symptoms? I don't notice any loss of power. I suppose I could pull the inspection cover and take a look, but I don't have any experience with auto tranny's and don't really know what I'm looking for.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Slight Vibration Between 50 And 60 MPH
I bought this Ex a little over a month ago and finally got around to replacing some stuff.
I have a slight vibration between 50 and 60 MPH. The vibration is the same weather I am accelerating, in Neutral, Coasting down (well, a little bit worse when coasting down), in 2WD, in 4WD, turning, going straight, hot or cold.
I have replaced the following:
Rear Driveshaft U-Joints
Tires and Rims
Upper and Lower Ball Joints
Wheel Bearings
Steering Stabilizer
Cleaned and Greased the Hubs
Greased everything greasable up front
I still have the exact same vibration as when I started. I can feel the vibration in the steering wheel as well as in the body of the vehicle. I am thinking that it may be in the steering linkage. If there is a loose joint then the wheels would be allowed to jiggle a little bit. I am at a loss. What else should I check?
Also, When doing the ball joints, I noticed that the tie rod ends were quite stiff. How stiff should these be? I can't move them by hand, but they will move a little bit when moving the free end of the tie rod.
I am taking it in for an alignment on Friday, and if I can't figure this vibration out, I might have them take a quick look into it. Would a stuck slide pin in the front brakes do this? Both sides on my truck are seized at the current moment.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 - Vibration At 48 MPH?
I have an 2011 F250 gas. I get what feel like a wheel vibration at 48 to 50 mph. It then go as you go up in speed. Comes back as you go down in speed at about the same range. Had it at the dealer for a month they but new tires and one new wheel on the truck. Same problem. Moved up to Ford. The sent me to another dealer. Ford now tells me that this is a problem that exist in the truck and there is nothing they can do.

So I have a 2016 6.7L love it but it has this vibration at 65 mph that is worse when accelerating up a hill. It feels like an out of balance wheel but I have had them balanced 3 times. road forced 2 times. My dealer replaced the driveline also. I did a test with 400 lbs of concrete bags in the bed and it was vibration free. It almost is like the pinion angle is off.

I recently checked and changed the one bad ujoint in the rear shaft but I still have a vibration once I hit 35mph but doesnt happen all the time and sometimes goes away while driving.
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2004 V8 - Vibration Above 50 MPH
"2004 Ford F250 FX4 for sale. 5.4l v8, automatic transmission, 4x4, 152,000 miles. Truck runs and drives good but needs a rear drive shafts due to a vibration above 50mph."
Are their any known issues with these? I am guessing it is a u-joint or something, not the driveshaft.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 - Vibration In 2WD?
A vibration has just begun on my 00 f250 power stroke it's in the left front and happens when I hit a bump I changed out the wheel bearing assembly and I switched locking hubs with another truck all with no success don't know what else it could be it does go away if I lock in the hubs so idk
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2011 F250 - Vibration Between 40 - 50 MPH
I have a 2011 f250 6.7 and I have a very bad vibration between 40-50 that seems to peak around 45-47. It also starts again at 80+ . the dealer told me they could not find a problem. Then another told me its normal. The tire shop around here told me the tires were shot so I bought new tires. No luck. It does not affect it if I change gears.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: In Cab High Pitch Vibration?
I just put a dual exhaust kit on my truck (cherry bomb extreme, single in dual out), and I've started to notice that around 2100-2200 RPMs, there's a high pitched vibration in what seems like the tight hand corner of my regular cab. It almost sounds like the glass in the window is vibrating, or a loose bolt, or something like that. Very high pitched, very noticeable.
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Rumble With Vibration While Braking
2004 6.0L Excursion Limited 4x4.
I recently developed a "rumble" with vibration while braking. I describe it as a rumble because I associate it to a similar sound, cadence, and feeling as if you were slowing down on the rumble strips you find on the side of the highway.
It is mostly only noticeable at lower speeds. I know the sound and feeling of warped rotors, but this seems different. If it makes any difference, one issue I've been dealing with is that the front transfer case does not release when 4x4 is off and hubs are in AUTO.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F450 - Terrible Vibration Between 70 - 80 MPH
Purchased new 2016 450 platinum. Has less than 800 miles on it and has a terrible vibration between 70-80 mph... Already have taken to dealer who stated there was a wheel out of balance and that they fixed the issue. But still present.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Getting Vibration Driving Down The Road
01 F350...4R100/V-10/4wd. Sometimes get a vibration driving down the road. First thought of tire out of balance but then the vibration goes away and may not come back for a few days or more. It starts sometimes around 30-40 mph and stays all the way up to around 65 mph. Even slowing down it vibrates or shakes. I can stop and take off again with nothing happening. Would think tires out of balance would do it all the time. And a few times....pulling my 5th wheel...making a right turn out of a parking lot.....it feels like a rumble from the rear.
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 - Vibration In All Gears?
I've got a 2003 350 7.3, with the zf6, approx 225000. I've been chasing a vibration that can be felt in the whole truck for quite a while. Feels like a wheel bearing danm near shot. But after replacing both wheel bearings and making over the whole front end it didn't go away. So I replaced the clutch and throw out bearing cause it was getting bad anyway. The vi ration is still there so I checked the harmonic balancer and it was bad so I replaced that. Still no dice. I know that it's coming from the trans, you can hear it in when jacked up and running in gear. Shifts fine in all gears. But the vibration/ clunking is there in all gears and it's getting bad. It feels like a bearing going out. Could it be input shaft bearing or pilot?
View 14 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: New Ujoints Equals Vibration
Ok so I replaced the rear axle U-joints and hanger bearing and now have a bad vibration. I marked every joint to ensure correct reinstall . Today I put the old hanger bearing back on to see if that changed anything and it didn't. Looking for a pic of the rear shaft so I can see if something is different. I have a crew cab short box. I don't want to have the driveshaft rebalanced but I might have to. On a side note before I replaced everything the truck was smooth as silk...
View 14 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 - Vibration Between 40 And 60 MPH
I have an '03 F250 Super Cab, 7.3L PSD, 4WD. I've started getting a large vibration between 40 and 60 mph. Started after driving on the PA highways towing a trailer with a car and hitting several deep pot holes.
I have had the wheels balanced, rotated, balanced a second time by a different shop and had them perform an alignment - Still No change.
The garage I took it to said the hubs were shot so I had them replaced - supposedly with Moog, lifetime warranty hubs. Still - No Change.
The tie rods and steering linkages are a year old, so unless something was damaged (visually, they look good, and feel tight) it probably isn't them.
I replaced the ball joints around 80,000 miles and now the truck has 155,000 miles. They appear to be ok, with maybe just a little movement in the Passenger side upper.
If there is any movement at all in the ball joint, will it cause a vibration?
I plan to rotate my full size spare through all 4 corners this weekend to eliminate the possibility of a bent rim.
I have another set of ball joints and seals on order which should arrive next week. Probably next weekend's project.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Annoying Vibration / Bounce Between 45 And 50 MPH
I recently bought a 2006 F250 Super Duty, 4X4, 6 liter diesel. My issue is that I have an annoying vibration/bounce between 45 and 50 mph. I thought it may have been a tire out of balance, but even after replacing all 4 tires and rear brake pads the vibration is still there.
