Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2001 - Stalls While Slowing Down / At 15 Mph - Vacuum Line Burnt?
I have a 2001 F-250 7.3 diesel with an automatic trans. Over the last couple of months it has stalled 3-4 times while driving, always when slowing down but even at speeds of 15 mph or so. I did find a burnt vacuum line the other day. It comes out of some type of relay box located behind the battery and in front of the starter solenoid relay and is mounted on the fender. It has an electrical plug in the top and two vacuum lines at the bottom. I am hoping this is the cause of the truck dropping off of the idle circuit? But I don't know what the unit is so I cannot order the correct replacement lines.

I have a 01 - F350 with the old nasty yellowing headlights. I know you can polish them or whatever but would like to just put the clear style like some of the newer 04 or up has. I have been doing some searches on here but have not found the answer or part #, brand, picture of the replacement headlight. Is there an easy way to do this without splicing harness, adding relays, ect ?

Last week I noticed my fogs stopped working. So I figured there may be a chance that they were burnt out. Hooked them straight to a battery and they work. Next I checked power at the plugs and no power. Checked the fuse and blown. The only fuse I had on me was a 25 amp fuse. Big mistake. Smoke started coming from the fuse box (palm to the forehead). Well it didn't blow the fuse but still nothing. I got power at the headlight switch and started tracing wires. From what I had read there is relay but it is inside the fuse box? Is this correct. I'm trying to pin point where the problem lies. There aren't any burnt up wires behind the fuse box and now I'm at a loss.
View 7 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2008 - Vacuum Noise - Burnt Smell - No Start?
So this morning I started my truck to move it out of the driveway and it sounded funny almost like I was running a ship vac under the hood. I moved it and shut it off and when I shut the truck off it sounded like screeching tires. I thought it was weird but chalked it up to it being cold. When I came home I started the truck again and I got the same vacuum noise. I figured I would let it run some since it was pretty cold out. All of a sudden I heard the noise stop so I went out and all I smelled was a burning smell but the truck was idling fine and running nice and quiet like it usually does. So I shut the truck off and then it wouldn't start again. So I tried to jump it still wouldn't start would barely try to crank. I crawled under smacked the starter a few times jumped it again and it started. I left it running for 20 mins after that no noise sounded fine. Any thoughts on what this could be?

I have a 2011 F350 diesel 6.7l. I have had this smell outside the front of the vehicle for months and so I took it finally to a dealer to solve the leak problem. They spent hours on it and eventually found a leak in a tube at the rear of the engine under the intake manifold and supposedly solved my problem. That was 2 weeks ago and I have driven about 300km.(180 miles) but the smell is still noticeable. How long should I wait before it goes away or should I return it to the dealer for further work?
View 6 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Burnt Rubber Smell While Driving / Parking Brake Seized
Noticed a burnt rubber smell while driving today. Stopped at a gas station and before I could get around to the other side of the truck, a guy stopped and told me there was smoke coming from the passenger rear wheel well. The truck seemed to run and drive fine. Didn't seem to be any noticeable drag, but once I got home I felt that wheel and it was a bit warmer than the others.
My parking brake pedal is all the way out and pulling on the release doesn't seem to relieve any pressure or "Pop" like it normally would if releasing the brake. We've got a good downpour of freezing rain right now and I'm not able to start pulling things apart. Anything easy I can try for now? Pretty sure it's seized by the way it's acting but I really don't use the parking brake. Auto trans and I live in a really flat area.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: One Headlight Bright But One Dim?
This has been a problem for awhile, my pass. side headlight has gotten really dim and as a result the driver headlight has gotten really bright. I cleaned the connector up as it had some white corrosion on it but it didn't seem to work. I can move it sometimes and it will come back bright but it doesn't last long. So the question is can I do anything with what I have or do I need a new connector or pigtail?

Got a little wild while i was in the trails the other day and was bouncing pretty hard and my headlight blew. Well now im on my third one and id suspect a short. This time it blew the bulb right apart so it must have got pretty hot. Any common problem areas i should look into before trying to figure this out?

I dont want to pry on the wrong thing and brake something. I am trying to remove the headlight. I was told that their are some pins that need to be pulled up. I dont see any pins. I do see two plastic clips on each side of the headlight. They are flat on the top with a small slot in them. There is a "T" stamped on the top of it. Are these the pins? I tried to find a shop manual today without much luck. Looking for a picture to show the pins that need to be removed.

I have never liked that the headlights are below the turn signals on the newer super duties. Has anyone swapped the positions so the headlights are on top? Will be ordering a 2016 next week and this would be one mod I would like to do. Not having the truck yet, I have not been able to do any investigation on what this would take or if it is even possible.
View 11 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 7.3L Diesel - Headlight Switch Pulls Out
When you turn the headlight switch to the headlight on position, you can pull it out exhibiting a positive click as if it is an additional switch for maybe optional fog lights. If the headlight switch is in the off or running lights only position, this will not pull out. I reviewed the elect. diagram but it does not show and addition circuit for the pull switch functionality?

My aftermarket bumper deleted my fog lights and I added some spotlights on the bumper. I just wired the spotlights to the fog light wiring. My switch is now messed up and I just want to wire the spotlights to a separate switch. What wires control the fog lights on the back of the headlight switch? Will I have to wire in a new hot wire to the new switch or does the headlight switch have separate hots for the headlights and foglights?

2006 F250 and my passenger light was out. I thought it was a bad bulb and I wanted to upgrade anyway so I bought some Slyvania Ultra headlights. Pulled out the old bulb and it didn't appear to be broken, but I installed the new upgraded lights anyway. Still not coming on. I tried the hi beams and still nothing. Got an electrical probe to test the wires and still no juice. Where the wires run to so I can try to find the break in the line? I'm assuming there is not a seperate fuse for the passenger side...On a side note when I went hunting a few weeks ago I had some kind of animal make a nest under the hood, its possible a mouse/rat/squirrel ate my headlight wire, but the nest was in the top center of the engine by the turbo and oil filter.

I have a 2004 F-350 V8. The bed has been removed and it has a small dump body. This is the problem that just randomly started with my lights:
The headlights, dome lights, and tail light illuminate - the rear lights do not illuminate when the headlight switch is on. Otherwise, the brake lights work, the reverse lights work, the four ways work, and the turn signals work.
I checked the ground and believe it to be okay - What am I missing and where do I start?
