Ford - Mountaineer :: 1997 - ABS Always On / Engine Light Comes On Occasionally With A Catalytic Converter Fault

The wife's 1997 Mountaineer, 5.0 with all the bells and whistles, Every time she stops, wet, dry, snow, any type of surface, the ABS brakes activate just as she comes to a stop. Heavy pressure, light pressure, doesn't matter. She says it sounds like a cow mooo-ing. 138,000 miles. New pads and rotors were installed 40K miles ago (about 3 years ago) she doesn't drive much but the noise is aggravating. No check engine light, or ABS light. Seems to come on when it gets below 10mph consistently. The Engine light comes on occasionally with a catalytic converter fault, replaced the converters but still get the light. I don't think it is related.

I have a 1997 Mercurey Mountaineer 5.0. In the morning it has no spark. If I disconnect the negative battery cable for 45 minutes or so and reconnect it, then it has spark and starts and will start and run perfectly every time all day. When it sits overhight, no spark. Same story every day.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 - O2 Sensor Replacement As Have CEL?

I have a check engine light on which diagnosed by Autozone relates to O2 Sensor, Bank 2 Sensor 1.

I realize sensor 1 is upstream before cat converter. However, I've received varying opinions as to which side is Bank 2, driver or passenger.

Ford - F150 :: 2003 SuperCrew - CEL On / Lower O2 Sensor Replacement

I have a 2003 F150 SuperCrew with 180k. Has been a great truck. Last fall the check engine light came on, and I took it to Advance Auto and they said to replace the lower O2 sensor. Did that and light stays on. Ever since then, and getting worse, is when I crank truck, it idles very rough, and if it sits too long it will just "choke itself out" and quit. Recently this has happened while driving on road too. I have to shift the gearshift to N to crank it. I get power but no crank if I try it in P.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2010 5.4L - CEL Came On Knock Sensor Replacement

Recently, my CEL came on. I had the guys at Autozone read the code and they said it was the knock sensor on bank 2. I disconnected the battery to clear it but after 100 miles or so it came back on. Idling, my engine runs as quietly as it ever has (can't tell it's running if the windows are up) so I'm hoping that the sensor has gone bad. I can't hear any knock at any speed but the re-appearance of the light has noticeably affected the engine performance. Any link that even shows where the sensor is located? If I can find it, I can replace it.

Ford - Explorer :: 2002 XLT - O2 Sensor Replacement - Code PO136

My 02 Explorer (XLT, 4.0) decided to throw a new code today. PO136, O2 Sensor Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 2).

While it may be a wire issue, I still plan to replace the sensor. So the question is;

Can I get to it from under the vehicle or is there an access panel under the console like on the 2nd gens?

I have the sensor on order and plan to get it done on my days off next week.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2006 - Code P2207 - O2 Sensor Replacement

I have a 06 F150 and I am getting the P2207 code on it. Sounds like a O2 sensor has gone bad. From reading a little about it online, it sounds like there are (3) different ones on the truck. Is there any way of knowing which one has gone bad or do you just have to replace all of them? How hard of a job is it, do you need a special tool to remove the old sensor?

Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Replacement Of Throttle Position Sensor?

Ford catalog does not list the TPS for a 1999 7.3 Super Duty as a separate replaceable part which leads to replacing the whole throttle pedal assembly. I found this to be incorrect. If you have a throttle pedal assembly with separate TPS (separate 3 wire connector) and IVS (Idle Validation Switch 2 wire connector) just the TPS can be replaced.

This is a pic of my 99 with new TPS installed : [URL] .....

Without removing the whole assembly you only need to remove the 2 T25 screws and the connector to replace.

Since this part is listed for more then 20 Ford trucks I figured it would work in my 99 7.3. I bought a brand new TPS from Pete (F250_) that he could not use. He has a 2002 with one 5 wire connector. It works perfectly in my 99. Not sure if it will work in a 2000 or 2001 but if the TPS and IVS each have their own connector it should. Make a visual inspection to be sure.

Part DY-967 or F4SZ-9B989-AA - Potentiometer

I was going to go with a Dorman TPS but like PartsGuyED likes to say "OEM Baby". The OEM TPS through Ed is actually cheaper then the Dorman.

Side-by-side pic of the old and new TPS. Only the center rotating part is different but it fits and works just fine. It also has a better fit so there is less slop and almost immediate response.

NewOldTPS.jpg?t=1269362105

By the way, the original TPS was working fine so I have no idea what the symptoms of a bad TPS are. Since it was available I replaced it to have a spare and to see if this one would work. Both Pete and I thought it would and we were right.
