In a cold weather also noticed the EV mode doesn't stay on for a long time even with a 90% full battery and fully warmed up. The engine starts to kick in randomly.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Climate Control Recirculation Door Will Not Stay On

2014 F150 FX4. The climate control recirculation door will not stay on. It will switch to fresh air by itself. When its cold outside if I set the climate temp to 75 deg. and system on auto with recirculation on, after a few min or so it will change to fresh air. At first I thought that maybe its normal for the auto system. So, I set it to manual mode, 75 deg. floor vents on med to low speed blower with recirculation on. And the same thing happens. There is no rime or reason to when it will switch.

Sometimes it seem to change more after stopping at a stop sign or after changing the seat heater temp, but I can't make it happen. It will happen most times in a 15 mile trip about three times. I took it to the dealer and they had the vehicle all day and said that it is normal. They said that Ford lets their recirc door do what ever they want depending on the temp. even in manual mode.

I have a 2012 truck that the AC wasn't blowing cold air this summer so I took it in and they said nothing was wrong... Took back in and they replaced vent control... worked a little bit. Fall came and my windows fog up and really never clears up so I take it in and they said it is blowing hot air but I told them that isn't the problem but the moister in the cab is the problem. I feel I'm getting the run around.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Turns Over But Doesn't Actually Start Sometimes

My Dad's 2011 Raptor has been having starting issues for about a month now. He turns the key, it turns over, but doesn't actually start; the same thing happens if he tries to start using remote start. It will start once in awhile on a 2nd or 3rd try, after throwing the shifter back and forth from Drive through Reverse several times and trying again, but not most of the time.

It doesn't happen all the time, but every once in awhile, and always at random times.

The first time was accelerating at an intersection a month ago. A second or so after hitting the gas, the engine died in the middle of the intersection. He took the key out, threw the shifter back and forth, tried again, and it started right up without issues.

Later that night, he tried starting it after sitting for over an hour (and had started it several times before without problems), and it failed to start, even after 7 or 8 tries. He had it towed to the dealer the next morning. He even tried starting it that morning in the dealer parking lot, without success. Several technicians apparently started it several times later that day without any issues! They didn't fix or replace anything, because they didn't find any problems. When he got it back, it worked perfectly.

A couple weeks later, it had the same problem at the gas station, after getting a full tank. My Mom told him that her truck (a nearly identical '11 Raptor) had the exact same issues several times in the past, and her trick was to let all the lights in the truck turn off, then try starting. He did that, and it worked!

Tonight, the same issue emerged. He did everything that had 'worked' in the past, and it still failed to start after about 10 tries. It's headed to the dealer on Monday, but what it might be?!? I also want to add that when it starts, it starts flawlessly, without hesitation; as if there wasn't a problem.

On my 2009 F150, my driver seat doesn't auto set when I put my key in. It started doing this after I had it in the Ford shop for tune up and fluid changes. Did they possibly change some type of setting? How to fix this?

My wife's 2010 Lariat, has a problem with the heater switch. Its stuck in one speed.

Also the rear defogger switch doesn't light up. We don't know if the switch to it is just bad, OR if the whole system is bad.

Was also wondering if the blend door would be bad??

The Issue: Dash display reads "Passenger Door Ajar", interior lights stay on, drains battery

Current Fixes I've completed
Sprayed electrical cleaner in all 4 door latch assemblies (didn't work)
Relubricated all 4 door latch assemblies with food grade lithium grease (didn't work)
Replaced passenger door full latch assembly (didn't work)

What is my next step? I have noticed that if I wedge the door lock button on the driver's side door into the lock position, the door ajar message turns off and stays off? I was thinking wiring or relay issues?

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: 2011 - Intermittent Hard Start - Cranks Like Normal But Doesn't Turn Over Instantly

I have absolutely loved my 2011 F-150 8 cyl since I bought it in 2013. I'm just now having my first issue...

For the past two weeks or so, I've had an issue with intermittently hard starting. It cranks like normal but doesn't turn over instantly. The longest its gone before starting has been about six seconds. Although originally happening only 10% of the time, its happening about 40% of the time over the past couple days. I had my mechanic take a look and the battery and starter all checked out fine.

Biggest problem was that it never did it for them making it hard for them to trouble-shoot. Thus far its always started, just takes an indescript amount of time in which to do it. The time of day doesn't seem to matter although afternoons in which I'm heading to lunch after being in the office for 3-4 hours seems the most common time.

Ford A/C :: Compressor Stay On Always?

Okay...it's a GMC but the forum I use for it kinda blows.

The AC Compressor stays on even if the HVAC controls are all in the off position. In fact, I completely disconnected the controls and it still operates.

Problem is that it won't cycle (on & off) and I risk breaking something expensive.

If your truck had this problem, where would you start?

What I do know:

1. The relay is good as I have a brand new one in there.
2. Someone just put two 12oz. cans of R143a in it for me.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 4X4 Doesn't Stay Locked In

So, I know this question has been asked probably a million times. But I can't seem to find the exact information I need. I have a 2003 fx4 f-150 and just like everyone else. My 4x4 doesn't work. But, the deal with mine is that sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's a toss up. When it does go in however, it doesn't stay locked in. Sometimes it stays in for 10 seconds, sometimes 30 minutes. When the switch is turned to 4hi or 4low it doesn't always engage, only sometimes. Light on dash comes on every single time I matter what. Solenoids click as they should. Also, the a/c and heater was stuck in the vent only, recently went to defrost only.

Ford A/C :: Compressor Failing - Clutch Doesn't Want To Spin Freely

On my '92, 302, I have a failing compressor. It is "catching" after 1 - 3 turns. The clutch doesn't want to spin freely, not cooling well at idle and local shop advised me to get a new everything, if I want it to last.

My question is if I can pull a compressor from the JY, from same year/model, replace orifice tube, run a cleaner thru, evacuate the system, and fill with appropriate refrigerant. The reason I'm not doing the full repair with new compressor, new condenser, new drier, is I'm going to be pulling the engine at some point with a newly rebuilt engine I'm working on. I know the old system have R-12, but isn't there a way to just get by with the 134 retrokit's?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Gas Cap Doesn't Latch And Fuel Nozzles Won't Stay Put

I bought a '98 F150. 4.2 powered, 2WD, automatic. About 140k on it. The truck runs well and is in remarkable shape other than a few dings.

The fuel filler does have the "collar" with the little flapper door on it. So the gas cap doesn't latch and fuel nozzles won't stay put. How would this be repaired?

Ford - Windstar :: 1995 - When A/C Is Turned On Compressor Clutch Doesn't Engage

I have a 1995 Ford Windstar. When I turn on the air conditioning, the compressor clutch does not engage despite having sufficient refrigerant in the system. Jumping current directly to the compressor clutch will engage the clutch, so it's not the clutch. I suspect the relay for the compressor clutch inside the CCRM may be bad, but am not sure how to test it. I have a Haynes repair manual, but how to test this device?

Ford - Ranger :: After Turning Steering Doesn't Want To Return To Center And Stay In The Turn

I have a 1987 ford ranger 4x4 with automatic hubs. My automatic hubs completely destroyed themselves and are being replaced with manuals as soon as this new problem is solved. Initially the truck seemed to go in and out of 4 wheel on the hubs and jumped, snapped and ultimately destroyed the retaining clips in the hub itself so that those gears fell out when wheel was removed. I removed both sides and that stopped, but now when I turn the vehicle, this worse at lower speeds, it doesn't want to return to center and will stay in the turn without much effort to turn back to straight.

The pump seems fine on the power steering system. A mechanic friend of mine told me that my universal and upper and lower ball joints where shot on the front axle, but I feel that this might have more to do with the steering rods etc. The originals have been replaced and I am able to grease them, after doing this it seemed really loose for a bit, then by second day of driving it was back to the usual. I just am looking for some verification before replacing tie rods etc and then eventually the hubs, but winter over so there is less concern right now for that.

Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1989 - When Starting It Doesn't Stay Running Even If Keep Giving Throttle

I'm having problems starting my truck. The second it catches, it just dies right away. It doesn't stay running even if I keep giving it throttle. Although when I did try to start it 5-10 times the other day, one of those times, it started and stayed on for about 5 seconds then died again. What to check? I'm a complete newbie when it comes to this vehicle, but I would consider myself mechanically inclined since I've worked with newer cars and smaller engines before.

Also I don't know if this might be related, but I recently changed the oil & oil filter in the truck (after not having changed it for a long time).... and it was a castrol full synthetic high mileage oil. It ran and shifted a lot better for about a week before this starting problem happened. I checked the oil level and it's still perfect so I know it's not leaking oil or anything like that. Just wanted to throw this in there just in case.

Bmw :: 1997 - Doesn't Start Normally When Left For Too Long

I have a manual transmission 97 BMW 540i. It only starts normally if I drive it frequently. The more frequent I drive it, the more chances it has at starting up. If I leave it too long, it will be basically silent - no telltale battery low sounds on startup. I do hear some kind of servo type noise. If I try maybe 50X plus, it may start up randomly if I am lucky - the less time that has elapsed since the last startup will increase my chances of the car starting. In this state, if I hook it up to a battery to jump it, it does not change the behavior - same no start. All the cabin lights and accessories are strong and do not seem to be a battery issue. I am able to get the car pushed and can pop the clutch and the car will start.

I had the starter replaced about 6 months ago with the same problem and it seemed to fix the problem until recently and it is showing the symptoms above.Could it be the starter again? or is it only a temporary fix for a different problem?

If I drive it very frequently - absolutely no issues - starts up immediately.
