I recently replaced the power steering pump and both lines but I just can't seem to get the air out of the system.

2005 5.4 - this is really weird to me, 4x4 hi works good, 4x4 lo not working at all. After 130+ tries to engage I'm givin' up on this... Troubleshooting with 4x4lo?

I've got a 2005 F-150 (5.4 triton) with about 35k miles that I rarely use in 4x4 mode. The other day, after stopping to fill up with gas, the truck 4x4 Lo light was on after starting it. The dashboard switch was still in 2H mode as I never switched it. I first thought that the dashboard light might be in error, but when I began to pull out of the gas station. the truck was in fact in 4x4 Lo. I had forgotten how to cycle it back to 2H so I slowly drove about 3 miles home at 20 mph.
Once home, I re-read the tranny sync sequence and managed to get back to 4x2. I called the dealer who never heard of a truck getting into that Lo mode w/o activating the switch and suggested that I just monitor it. I read a number of forum threads discussing the IWE and solenoid problems, but all of those threads dealt with issues of not being able to get too 4x4 mode. My biggest concern is that I leave in a month for a 2000 mile trip, towing a cargo trailer and I'd hate to inadvertently switch into 4/4 when traveling 60 mpg on a highway.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 XLT Does Not Always Start
I have a 2005 F150 XLT 5.4 that doesn't always start. I've been having this problem for over a year now.
Sometimes it will start, but sometimes it won't. Seems about every other, or perhaps every 3 days it just will not start. Then, if I wait a few hours, it'll start.
I've replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, mass air flow sensor, fuel pump driver module, starter and the battery. None of this has seemed to effect it.
Lately I've found out that if I put the truck in neutral, then while cranking I go to park (going through reverse) it will start. Sometimes not on the first try, but after a few attempts it will start.
It should also be noted that when it does start, often it'll make some loud noise RIGHT before it starts up. Sounds kind of like the starter grinding. If it doesn't make the grind noise, the other thing it may do is all the lights and everything turn off for an instant (half a second) then come back on and start.
I'm really lost as to what to do. I've been thinking that it may be the transmission range sensor, but I really don't know. I don't want to keep spending money replacing random parts, in hopes of fixing it. I'm on the 3rd starter, because of all the cranking I have to do when it doesn't start.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: 2005 4.6L - Removal Of Oil Pan?
2005 f150 4.6l up on jack stands right now with the oil drained and a few bolts out of the oil pan. It looks like I have to take the cross section out to get this to even move but I don't know if that's going to be enough. I'm sort of running trial by error here but hoping I don't do something I cant put back together. I'm assuming ill be okay to take the cross section out but I don't know if I need to move the differential to get it out. My oil pan gasket is leaking and I'm trying to replace it.

I'm having an issue with my 2005 f150 xlt. Its been happening for almost near a month and still cant locate the issue .
It has a vibration at 75km throughout the whole truck. Ive tried multiple things done to it by a mechanic, such as having the tires balanced and the ujoints replaced. The problem still persisted and after attempting to test out to see if press/releasing the parking break (my mechani suggested trying that out), my driveshaft fell off.
Apparently the center bearing snapped and cant simply be replaced on the 05's. So i had to get a new driveshaft installed (used, both the 3 mechanics I've gone to say its in good condition).
Even after replacing the driveshaft the issue persists - however it seems a bit softer than it was (I am guessing the old driveshaft was worn from the vibration causing it to be worse). After that I took it to another shop to see if they could locate the issue. They did a driveline inspection and engine inspection too see if a misfire could be the cause.
Again, nothing was found. The only thing they were able to find was that the issue only happens under load and slightly occurs at 40 and 100km as well (although alot softer then the one at 75) and they say they cant find anything physically and it was a mystery to them.

My truck just shut down and now will not start//turn the key on it pulsates at the throttle under the hood and red security light pulsates same time.....I saw post a while back a truck had the same problem. I took the postive and neg off waited 2 hour put back on did nothing no codes come up either ......I was just driving along engine just shut down got it towed ....

my 05 f150 5.4 with 76,000 has a weird rumble at idle, I don't think its a miss and there's no codes and when I put it in park it goes away or if the idle changes just a little you don't feel it. And you feel it through the brake pedal the most its not real bad butb enough to bother me.

I was driving my f150 going down the highway. Cruise set at 110kmh. All of a sudden truck started shaking And sounded horrible. Shut off the cruise. Floored it.it misses fired like no tomorrow and no power, looked down check engine light was flashing. Then all of a sudden everything normal. Now its intermediate and light solid on. So I thought I will just I will hook up the code reader. And NOTHING it didn't turn On. No beep nothing. Tried 2 readers no connection. Trucks a 2005 ford f150 fx4 5.4 217600km on the clock

My 2005 F150 crew had a misfire when under wot. I had been putting off the diagnosis fee for months, but I finally bit the bullet. Found out my number 3 coil was bad and the number 3 cylinder was dropping out. Dealer swapped out coil and truck runs better now. Still have to get plugs done. Truck has 88000 miles. Already had the cat replaced and didn't want to go through that again.

I have a 2005 F150 5.4l. The CEL came on a couple days ago, but there were no driveability symptoms, and my code reader was 2 hours away, so I didn't pull the codes.
Today, I left for work and pulled onto the freeway, I went to pass a vehicle, and rolled on the throttle (maybe 60%) l and the truck fell flat. I backed out of the throttle, checked the gauges, all looked good, so I tried again. The second attempt ended the same as the first, it fell flat and felt much like a APP/TPS correlation/limp mode.
Before I had a chance to even think, it bucked a couple times and stalled (felt like running out of fuel). I coasted to the side of the road and tried to restart. When the ignition is on, the dash lights come on as expected, when turned to the start position the relay under the dash clicks, but it doesn't crank, and the starter solenoid does not click.
I have checked the starter and PCM relays. Both are good. I have not disconnected the battery or started pulling fuses as I want to retrieve the codes first. I am able to turn the engine over with a pry bar.

Here was the scenario: someone drove my truck in 4 low for a very long time.3 hrs doing over 80 km/h) When i drove the truck i could get it out of 4 low it is still in 4 low. But then the truck died on me.
The alternator pulley went on it. replaced the alternator then proceeded with the remedies from the link above.

It seems like I am going thru brakes I just replaced my brakes in May and my Rotors in July and when I brake my truck shakes like crazy. Is it the brakes again or am I missing something.

So a week ago, I had a good load of sod in my 05 F150 4WD. After a few miles, the ABS light came on and has stayed on. Will this go back off by itself after a time, or is this a get it fixed deal? Tried unhooking the battery, but no luck.

Had a miss in the #5 cylinder on a 2005 F-150 5.4 Triton. Had it hooked up to see which code was given and the tech said that #5 was the culprit. Taking no chances, I purchased a new plug and coil pack. I installed them and it ran great until I got up to around 70mph and then it started dong the same thing it was doing earlier. I took it back to the place that checked the codes and it came back as the #5 cylinder misfiring again. I am not sure how this is possible after replacing the plug and coil pack. Is there some way that the plug that fires just ahead of #5 is fouled out and causing the #5 cylinder to get too much fuel transferred to that cylinder? Or is there a possible short somewhere causing that cylinder to misfire and ruin the coil pack? I am stumped on this for the moment anyway.

I have an 05 f150 5.4 v8 super crew cab and I bought it for 3000 because of a cracked block. I bought a re-manufactured engine and installed it and now i have a knocking that wont go away. After I started it up it sounded beautiful for about 10 minutes and then i had a knocking start up. I have put about 30 miles on the new engine and still have the knocking. I let it sit over night and I started it up and there was no knocking so i drove about 3 miles to the gas station and by the time I got there the knocking was back. it runs fine no other issues but why do I have this knocking with a new engine.

i have a 2005 F150 5.4L while driving my message board bell indicated low oil pressure i pulled into the station and checked oil. i had to add about 2 qts i filled up with gas and the truck has not started since. I towed it home changed the oil, filter, oil pressure sensor and the fuel filter
when i try to start it the engine turns over normal no noises, knocking or anything out of the ordinary. It sounds like it wants to start but then acts like something is shutting the fuel pump down. I had the local mechanic tell me that the fuel pump was out. I can here the fuel pump kick on for no more than 2 seconds then shuts off. he told me it should pump for about 5 to 10 seconds. i am not convinced it is the fuel pump dont want to spend $300 on something i dont need.
is there a saftey cut off swith to the fuel pump when the low oil pressure indicator comes on? i also check the codes and its not giving any codes but i had removed the battery and replaced it and i am thinking that removed the codes?

I have a problem now, the transmission do not go forward only reverse.
