Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Service Engine Soon Light Is On - Code PO156
The Service Engine Soon light is on in my 2001 F-150. I checked the code and got PO156 generic O2; circuit (bank 2, sensor 2). What are the most common things I should look at? The truck appears to be running fine, no driveability issues.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Service Engine Light Came On - EGR Replacement Code P0402
Last week my service engine light came on. Friend checked it with his code reader. Got a P0402 code insufficient flow EGR valve. I have read several different threads on this subject on another Ford truck forum, slightly confusing me. Should I trust the code and just replace the EGR valve or do a number of other things that
1. Clean the throttle body first?
2. Test the EGR valve by blanking it off?
3. Test the DPFE valve?
4. Replace the DPFE valve instead of the ERG valve since the EGR valve rarely goes bad?
5. Only get OEM parts since after market parts do not last?
Ford :: F150 2002 - Service Engine Soon Light Is On / Code 0141
The "service engine soon" light is on. I got code 0141 on the code reader. The repair manual for my F150 is stating that the code is for bank 1 sensor 2.I want to check the sensor, but I don't know the location of bank 1 sensor 2. I would like your advice as to the location of the sensor, and what should I check for?

View 3 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Barely Runs / Stumbling And Shaking / Got P0340 Code?
The vehicle has 160,000 miles and had been running great. I pulled into traffic, put the petal to the floor, and it started stumbling and shaking. I pulled into the parking lot where I was going and expected it to die but it maintained idle but shaking real good. When I started it back up the SES light came on. I was able to coax it home but there was no acceleration, wouldn't go over 40 mph, and was still shaking bad.
I used my code reader and got the code P0340, camshaft position sensor. I replaced the sensor but it is still doing the same thing and still showing the code. It will start if I push the gas while cranking but it won't rev over 2K. I am thinking it jumped timing but most of the threads I read say they have never seen this on these engines. I want to get some opinions before I start removing the timing chain cover.

2001 F150, 5.4L gas, 4wd, stock, 217k miles, auto trans. Bought it used about 4 years back.
Currently away from home base. Left Saturday for a 600+ mile trip. All fluid levels are good. Truck has been reliable. No major issues other than an alarm malfunction a while back which got sorted.
About 90 miles into the trip down the highway, the service engine light comes on. Hmm. At the next fuel stop I tanked up. Started and it was a bit rough the first few seconds and then settled. Seemed to have an engine noise I had not heard before.
Pulled over in the station and popped the hood. Oil good. Coolant fine. Power steering fine. Listening to it I could definitely hear an unusual sort of "ghost" like sound. Hard to describe. Sort of like a low "woooooo." It was low, but definitely there and not normal. Could be unrelated to the engine light. Pulling out of the station the sound varied and got louder with slight acceleration. Possibly beginning of an accessory bearing meltdown?
No acceleration or dying issues. Got back on the highway and kept on trucking for 600+ miles. No running issues. No shifting issues. Ghost noise not noticed at highway speeds.
The power steering pump is probably in need of replacement at this point with this mileage. It does drip slightly, but not a lot. It may be the original pump for all I know. Same with the water pump.
The alternator was replaced last year with a Bosch unit. I have never replaced the O2 sensors. Stock exhaust. Spark plugs were replaced a while back with Motorcraft platinums.
It is now Sunday night and I went out to listen for the sound, and it is not there anymore, but the service engine light is still on. First things to check with a truck that has 217k miles on it?
Was tempted to bring it to the dealer here, but it seems to be running ok in spite of the light coming on. So I may leave it until I get back home and check it more myself then. Can't do much here since I don't have my tools/service manuals etc with me.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2000 - Service Engine Soon Light Came On?
The Service Engine Soon light has come on on my 2000 F-150 with a 4.6L when I was driving home in the rain. It has about 120,000 miles on it now. What are some of the main reasons why this comes on? Oxygen Sensors?

I have a 1999 F-150 w/ 4.2 V6. and auto trans, truck has 219,000 miles on chassis but only 25,000 on engine and 10,000 on trans. I've been getting obd codes p0705 and p0715. I replaced the position sensor on outside of trans. but I continue to get the codes off and on again. I noticed that the O/D "OFF" light on the shift selector blinks simultaneously when the "service engine soon" light comes on. I've noticed that there is no low gear unless I have it in D from a dead stop, and not even when downshifting manually.
View 1 RepliesPontiac - Grandprix :: 2002 - Service Engine Soon Light Has Been On / Code P0442 And P0128
Got a 2002 GT with the NA 3.8 and 150,000 miles. The car has pretty much sat for the past 6 months, driven very sparingly. If it's been sitting for a while (like over night or longer) it will start no problem. If I turn the car off for a shorter period, it will crank but not fire. It will start only if I pump the gas as I'm turning the ignition.
In addition, on occasions it has died while at idle or coasting to a stoplight. After it dies it will fire back up no problem.
Fuel problem perhaps?
The "Service Engine Soon" light has been on for about a month before it started acting up. I had the codes checked at AutoZone and it came up with P0442 and P0128.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Engine Service Light - Codes P0171 And P0174
2001 F150 5.4L Triton Motor. Everything seemed o.k. then got the Engine Service Light. Checked with reader and above codes only appeared. Read numerous articles/videos and pulled the PCV hose/boot assembly and replaced the whole thing with oem part. Visually checked for disconnected tubing = none found. After this and with the new hose assembly in place I performed a reset. With the scanner still connected restarted engine and read values: ST FTRM1&2 = -.08~+2.3, both oxygen sensor voltages are varying and the LT FTRM1&2 hang around +26 and +28.
From what I understand the ST seems o.k. but the long term is WAY OUT OF WHACK. Started it up again and took carb cleaner spray and covered all the connections I could see = no change in engine rpm. No cracks in the air cleaner body. Big plug to the MAF was inserted and plugging the hole. I am thinking of making a smoke "machine" and trying that or removing the hoses from the throttle body and plugging the holes in the throttle body and see if that clears them up. IF it does then connect one by one and keep checking the values. Lot more work but I am at a loss.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: P1211 Code With Constant Service Engine Light
I was on the way back from the weekend trip and got a service engine soon light. I didn't notice any lack of power, rough idle or hard starting cold or hot. So we pushed on home. I checked the codes and it is the P1211.
Doing some research it seems the ICP is not as expected so I hooked up my phone with the Torque app and the IPR and ICP seem to be close to normal at idle and running. I din't see any high IPR %.
At idle the IPR was around 15.5 cold and 10.1 after a short run to the store and back when it warmed up a bit. ICP was around 690-720 cold and 470-490 when i got back.
Does that seem like normal readings? I cleared the codes and the CEL comes back on right away after starting the truck. I do have a TS performance chip that I will take out and see if that could be causing any problems. What else should I be looking into?

I have a little more detail on when the truck starts and does not . I have gone out the past two days and put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and all the lights come on except Service Engine Soon light and truck will not start. I bought a ceramic electric heater and placed it on the floor directing the heat under the dash. after ten to fifteen minutes I go out and put the key in the ignition turn the key to the on position and the service engine soon light is on and the truck starts right up. I let it warm up for about a half hour and then shut it off. I then try to start it right back up and the service engine soon light comes on momentarily then goes off and the truck does not start?

I recently had my "Service Engine Light" come on, Sunday to be exact. I went through my normal procedure of checking the fuel cap and drove several times to no avail. So today I ran by Autozone where I got the P0302 code. Now I realize I could go in for a tune up, but I'm a college student and just spent all my money on books so I'm looking for some DIY solutions before I lay down any large amounts of money. Where to start. As for a bit more background, I filled my car up with gas on Friday, the light came on Sunday and the car will shake on initial idle of the car.

I just bought a 2003 F250 from a used dealer. Unfortunately the service engine light keeps popping on and putting out the code P0401, I have replaced the EGR, cleaned the inside, and cleared the code. However it continues to keep popping up and then it will turn off after a couple of days. I mostly drive in the city and the code generally only pops on when I drive on the highway. I have also noticed a lack or delay of power, when I really hit it hard, I think its because the computer is keeping the egr valve open. What it could be?
