View 7 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: No Blinkers Or Brake Lights Working
I have a 1997 Ford F250. My trailer lights will work, but I have no brake lights or turn lights. I have checked all my fuses and all the fuses are good.
I was told it was probably my trailer tow relay, so I bought it at O'Reilly's, but I don't know which relay it is exactly.
I just want to know which relay number it is so I can replace it. And, if this doesn't sound right, is there something else I should be trying?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Brake And Turn Lights Are Not Working
I have a '97 F150 and the trailer break lights and turn lights are not working. I have checked the fuses under the dash and hood and all fuses look fine. I have also tested the trailer on another vehicle and checked the wires. Trailer lights worked and wires and connections looked fine. In searching the forum I noticed a similar problem [URL] .... and it was fixed through a third fuse box that was not in the manual. I haven't been a user long enough to send e-mails, but it looks like WhipsnHorses was the one that provided the answer before.

View 2 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: No Brake Lights But Turn Signals Work
This has been driving nuts for 2 days.... Brake lights dont work. Either pushing pedal or turning on lights. Turn signals work just fine.
Cab/cargo/3rd brake light on back of cab doesn't work either. I have checked/done the following:
- Checked Brake pedal switch for continuity. Tested fine.
- put multi meter on wiring all the way back to brake lights. No drop in voltage.
- changed bulbs. #3157 dual filament.
- positioned steering wheel all the way up and all the way down as suggested on here. No change.
- checked multi function switch (turn signal switch) for wiring issues. None found.
- kicked rear quarter panel for caveman adjustment out of frustration. No change.
What am I missing?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Unable To Shift Out Of Park And Brake Lights Not Working
A couple times recently, I've been unable to shift my truck out of Park & the brake lights don't work.
After checking the related fuses & finding them to be ok, it all works again.
What might be causing this to happen?
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1998 - Brake Lights Not Working / Clicking Under The Dash
Brake lights do not work. The turn signals work, the flashers work, and the running lights (head lights) work. I checked the bulbs and both filaments light up during the above processes.
I removed the brake switch at the pedal. When I was removing it, I heard some clicking under the dash. I connected the 2 pins with a wire (bypassing the switch), and got a spark a few times along with the clicking sound like a relay, and the brake lights would come on, but now nothing. No sparks, no clicking. The flashers and turn signals and running lights still work.
There are no blown fuses in the fuse box to the left of the steering column. Is there a relay somewhere under the dash just for the brake lights?
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Brake Lights Went Out

Just got this truck, and found out i have some kind of issue. At night I can't see the dash because the dash lights don't work. I have checked all fuses and they are good. I did find this plug, and I'm wondering if it may be the cause of my dash not lighting up.

I have a 1999 Ford F-150 4X4 w/4.6L V8 W code, I recently lost all brakes. The primary line from Master Cylinder to ABS Pump rusted out completely. Replaced them but the other lines from ABS Pump to wheels are looking real bad. So I need to replace them, however I have no idea what the routing system looks like. Looking for a 97-03 F-150 Brake Line Diagram? I live at the jersey shore... so yeah rust is extremely common.... unfortunately. Also, where to get line assemblies?

View 9 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Lost Turn Signals And Brake Lights
I was turning left in my 01 Excursion and I think I hit the turn signal while doing so and tripped something. Now I have no turn signals and no brake lights. Headlights and tail lights work fine. I checked a couple of fuses under the hood that I believe are for turn signals, according to my manual they are fuses #20 and 22. They aren't getting any power, but the fuses themselves are fine. Is there another fuse somewhere to check? Or something else entirely?

I have 1999 Ford F-150 xlt and on the passenger side the brake and turn signal don't work but reverse light does. On the driver's side, everything works so I switch bulbs and outlets and it still doesn't work but two of the wires for trailer hook up and cut. I was wondering if that had anything to do with that.
View 2 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 F250 - Lost Function Of Brake Lights / Turn Signals And Hazard Flashers
Recently, I lost function of brake lights, turn signals, and hazard flashers. All happened at the same time. Some threads discuss flasher relays, short steering column wiring (position of steering wheel), and fuse failures.
I checked #18 fuse and a few others. All had continuity. I assumed my bulbs were all good. My hazard push-pull switch did not feel right. There didn't seem to be engagement. At this point, there was a good chance that the multi-function column switch had failed so I decided to try replacing it. I'm happy to report that this switch was the cause of all the light function failures and now, all is well again.
Removal is done by prying the key lock switch cover off,, removing three 1" Philips head screws that attach the lower column shield to the upper shield. At that point the upper shield can be completely removed. The lower shield was not totally removed because the tilt lever was left on. The switch is attached to the column with two 3/4" Torx 20 fasteners. The upper is easily accessible and the lower fastener can be removed by pulling the lower column shield down so access can be achieved. The two wiring harnesses have a conventional harness lock to depress and the connectors pull outward from the switch. Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the dowel locator and small plastic dowel on the lower shield.
