Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Hard To Start If Truck Sits For Few Days
2002 4.6L 75K Miles ... Truck has hard time starting if it sits for a few days. Recently had the fuel filter (under driver's door) replaced for first time, and mechanic said it was clogged (?). He also checked fuel pump pressure and said it was good (about 40 lbs). Truck starts OK if used every day. Battery seems OK, as starter turn engine fine. Seems that there's a fuel problem.

2000 2WD 4.6L ... I was trouble shooting why the truck will not start after it has run for awhile then sits for about an hour. I was checking the connections on the solenoid switch on the fire wall when my wrench slipped and touched both terminals on the solenoid and the engine starter kicked in. I tightened the connection then tried to start the truck with no luck. so I tried leaving the key in the "ON" position and jumped the two terminals and the truck started. Does this tell me I have a bad solenoid switch?

View 4 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 F250 - No Start / Low Voltage At Inertia Switch
I bought this truck and have been working on this problem for two full days. It has been sitting for over a year and was told it needed spark plugs and a battery. I replaced both items and it turned over, would start with starting fluid but only briefly. I disconnected the fuel line on the tank side of the filter and had my son turn the key on several times, no fuel. I reconnected the line and tested voltage at the tank (Pink and blue (+) and black (-). No voltage.
I went to the fuse box under the hood and have good 15A fuse with 12.5V there with the key on. The relay also makes 3 audible clicks when I turn the key on. I tested the inertia switch green/yellow wire; 6.8V grounded to the truck or to the small brown wire. I looked at the condition of the green/yellow wire up and into the harness and it did not appear damaged. Where this green/yellow wire travels to? I had read that it goes to the fuse box inside but did not see a listing for this in the manual.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 - Gas Sits Lop Sided
Very noticeable not like things i read on about .5-1" this is like an inch and half to two inch on driver side front and rear... Looks like the bed is twisted but its not frame is intact and by a level sits good... Same in front end. Since there is no coil springs could this be related to the leaf springs or maybe rust caused something I am not seeing to break and give way....this gangsta lean has to be fixed....
View 10 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Driver Side Sits 1 Inch Lower?
I'm trying to figure out why my truck sits about an 1 1/4" lower on the driver's side. I went around with a tape measure and checked and both the front and back of the truck sit lower than the passenger side. I actually can feel it when driving, feels like it wants to tip over when I'm turning right. Could it just be worn shocks? What else should I look for? All four tires have the same pressure in them also.

I have a 97 F250, 4x4, 5.4 Triton with a bunch of mile on it. The problem I'm having is when first starting, the accelerator hangs up. Can't just push down slowly to start off - have to tap it to get it to free up. Problem doesn't seem to be with the pedal or cable - they move freely. What to look at or try?
View 1 RepliesHonda - Odyssey :: 2003 - Have To Jump Start If It Sits For More Than 1 Day?
We have an 03 Odyssey that we have to jump start if it sits for more than 1 day. We aren't leaving lights or radio on. Our mechanic can't figure out what is wrong. He has replaced the battery 3 times and says that is not the problem. What we are doing now is disconnecting the cables to the battery at night, so it will always start in the morning, even after two days of not driving it. It works, but it's a pain! What is causing this problem?

99 F-250 with the manual shift 4x4, feels like I'm arm wrestling with King Kong to get it to work, this is my first 4x4 but I'm inclined to think this is not normal. This used to be a PA truck so it is rusty, the cursory look I gave it showed me massive amount of rust on the 4x4 shift mechanism. Should I just replace it or can it be rebuilt? Also should I replace the manual shift cover on the transfer case also?
View 3 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: High Idle After It Sits About A Minute Warming Up
I have noticed thru the cold months after I start my 2001 F250 7.3L 4X4 after it sits about a minute "warming up" that it goes into a high idle. The high idle will stop once I press the brakes. Is this normal?
I think this is a unrelated issue, but just started over the weekend. Was riding home, and pressed my brakes and the pedal moved almost to the floor. Not normal conditions for my truck. Usually the pedal is very stiff. I have noticed that my power steering pump has had a hum for months. I changed the fluid (ATF Mercon) within the last 6k miles and that calmed it down a bit.
After the pedal went to the floor, the hum seemed to quieten down even more. The power steering still works and the reservoir has adequate fluid and so does the brake fluid reservoir. I haven't noticed any leaks around the truck. I'm going to bleed the brake in an hour or so. The brakes pedal seems stiff when I press it after the high idle, but then it gets soft after a pump or two.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1998 F250 - Service Engine Soon Light And Truck Will Not Start
I have a little more detail on when the truck starts and does not . I have gone out the past two days and put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and all the lights come on except Service Engine Soon light and truck will not start. I bought a ceramic electric heater and placed it on the floor directing the heat under the dash. after ten to fifteen minutes I go out and put the key in the ignition turn the key to the on position and the service engine soon light is on and the truck starts right up. I let it warm up for about a half hour and then shut it off. I then try to start it right back up and the service engine soon light comes on momentarily then goes off and the truck does not start?

View 1 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 F250 Skipping After Rain - Code P0307 / Cylinder 7 Not Fire Correctly
99 F250LD 4x4 w/5.4 and 215k . I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. Just had quite a bit of rain in my area. I didn't drive the truck in it but 3 days after the rain stopped I did. Skipping badly ! It has done it before and will clear itself up after a heat cycle or two. This time it kicked a p0307 code. # 7 cylinder not fire correctly I believe. I got ready to replace the cop but decided to wait a day. In the mean time I pulled the connector and blue compressed air through it and the male connector.
The next morning I decided to drive it before replacing the coil. Absolutely no skipping at all. Drove at different speeds , up heels slow , high speeds, no skipping. Ran the truck for about 20 minutes or so. Is the connector getting moisture in it ? Can I fill the connector with dielectric grease? Is there another problem. I cleared the codes and am going to drive a couple of cycles to see if any come back. Like I said it has done this before but not bad enough to throw a code so I'm not sure if it's always number 7.
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: F250 - Click With No Start
So I bought a Lifted 1999 F250 a couple weeks ago and last night the thing wouldn't start. The battery connections are not perfect but there's power going to the truck because it will give me the wait to start light and all. When I try to start it there's one really loud click and certain lights like the clock momentarily turn off when it clicks. Tried hitting the starter didn't work. Tried putting a jump pack to the starter and it didn't spark like expected.

View 2 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 - Stalls / Won't Start When Hot
1999 F150. The truck is a 4X4 supercab, with the 4.6 motor, 141,000 mi. During cold weather it runs great, but as soon as the temp gets into the upper 70's or higher I have a recurring problem. The truck starts right up and runs well, but when it is shut off it will not restart until it has sat for over an hour. It has also stalled at speed on the freeway when the outside temp was in the upper 90's to low 100's.
So far it has always restarted after sitting for awhile. I took it to the dealer and they kept it for 3 days, but could not duplicate the problem and found no codes in the computer. I replaced both coils, but it is still not starting after shut down when hot. My next thought is to change the PCM, but that is a big chunk of change to be guessing about.
Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 V8 - No Crank / Would Not Start
I have a '99 F-150 with 4.6L V-8. The truck has run perfectly since I bought it a year ago. My grandson took it a short distance to a neighborhood store, and when he got back he parked on the neighbor's lawn.
IMMEDIATELY after turning it off, I told him to move it, and it would not start. Wouldn't even turn over. I did a little research, and replaced the most likely culprit, the starter....no change in condition. When keyed to start, the dash lights up, but that's it! I did get under the truck and there IS voltage getting to the large power lead.
The starter has it's own solenoid, however there is another one mounted to the firewall. Does this have anything to do with the starter?
