Ford - Explorer :: 1997 - Clutch Won't Disengage

Ok so I have a 97 Ford Explorer 5-speed manual transmission. When I start the truck up in first gear, with my clutch pedal fully depressed, the truck goes forward as if im not pressing the clutch pedal down at all. And if I start the truck up in neutral, with the clutch pedal fully depressed, I cannot get into any gear. There are no leaks anywhere and there is plenty of fluid in the reservoir. What the problem may be or where i might wanna start looking?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: AWD Light Stayed On And Did Not Disengage

So today I was playing around with a Honda civic from light to light with my 2012 v6 AWD Santa fe. After lighting the tires up on the first light I decided to hit the AWD lock switch.

Second stop light was great, my suv launched and before I knew it I was doing 100km/h. Only problem is my AWD light stayed on and didn't disengage? Is this normal?... I could be wrong but I think my check engine light flashed but I'm not 100% on that.

Passat (B6) :: 2007 - Parking Brake Won't Engage / Disengage?

owner of a 2007 Passat 2.0T wagon, 6 spd manual, 32k km's. (leased) I'm having repeated persistent parking brake failures (won't engage, or won't disengage).

-About two months ago the parking brake would not disengage, error message on the MFD, yellow warning light and warning tone. Called roadside, finally got it disengaged by removing one terminal from the battery. Took it straight to the dealership, they "fixed" it by resetting the computer.

- The next day I have auto hold engaged, parking brake did not disengage when I turned the car back on. Had to turn engine on/off several times before it disengaged.

- Took it to the dealership again, had to get a rental car over a weekend while they diagnosed the problem. This time they changed some wiring and replaced the parking brake button.

- Next day the parking brake engaged ok but wouldn't disengage. Same routine on/off/on/off to get it to disengage.

- Back to the dealership again, they decided to replace the brake control module but didnt have stock.

- Last week I took the car back in (4th trip for this issue), they replaced the module and said it was fixed. Next day my wife got stuck in a parking lot with the parking brake stuck on.

- Called the dealership last friday and asked them to come pick it up this time, as my wife and I are sick of the inconvenience of this issue. (we share the car, both work, and also have a child's daycare to schedule around)

The problem is intermittent but not difficult to cause a fault. Can be caused when engaging, disengaging, or when the PB kicks in from auto hold when turning the car off. I try not to use it, but sometimes is necessary (parking on hills etc).

The dealership doesnt seem to know the problem and are just throwing parts at it. What recourse do I have for repeated problems? The manual recommends using this parking brake EVERY time the car is parked, so I don't think it's too much to ask to have it working properly.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Brake Seemed To Engage Then Disengage Causing Engine To Stutter And Surge

Is there a correlation between a Prius sitting in the hot sun and the computer malfunctioning? When I came out from a movie yesterday, the temps read 106 degrees outside the car. The emergency brake light was on, though the brake was off. I pumped the brake on/off a couple of times, but the light stayed on. As I pulled out, the brake seemed to engage, then disengage causing the engine to stutter and surge. The service tech today tells me the computer is not communicating and at 50,000 miles. Is it worth the money to get the new computer? Will the car be safe afterwards?

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 - Compass Not Displaying Right

All of a sudden, the compass is not displaying accurately. The repair guy at the dealership said to try driving the car in circles to reset it, but that just made me dizzy - didn't correct it.

Any other trick that might work? Or does this trick work if you drive in more circles than about 6 or 8?

Ford Excursion :: 4WD Will Not Disengage

I just put new seals in both front hubs because they were leaking. Now I have good readings when vacuum is applied. When I switch to 4wd the vacuum in hubs goes to about 15 in hg for about 30 seconds or so and my 4wd engages. After the 30 seconds the vacuum is released, I believe that is normal.

Now though my 4wd will not disengage. I get no vacuum pulse when I switch to 2wd, gauge stays at 0 in hg. I'm pretty sure a 5 in hg or so vacuum pulse is required to release hubs....is this correct? Would I be correct that the vacuum solenoid could be the issue or its connection?

Both locking hubs are in great shape and I spliced a vacuum gauge between hub and frame vacuum hose to get my readings. I drove it for 10 min hoping the hubs would disengage but they never did.

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 - Trailer Brake Wiring

I am trying to wire my 07 explorer for trailer brakes. Currently it is wired with a 4 flat. I found the connector under the dash that I plugged my wire harness and brake controller into, however, I can not locate where those wires go. I've traced the wires from my 4 flat in the back of my car but cant find the brake control wire. Where this might be hiding?

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 - Loud Whining While Driving

My 2007 Ford Sport Trac 4x4 with 47K on it, has a loud whining noise while driving. I checked the wheel bearings and there is no play side to side or up and down. No noise rotating the wheels. I noticed that both drive shafts turn while rotating a front wheel off the ground. No dash lights are on indicating it`s in 4 wheel drive. Could the 4x4 shift motor be bad and not disengaging 4 wheel drive ? Is there a way to check it ?

Where it is V8? I did a search on here and came up empty. I haven't physically looked for it on the vehicle yet. I'll be changing oil this weekend and I'd like to change the fuel filter while I'm at it.

Almost forgot, it has the 4.6L V8.

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 - Growling Noise From Front End

Front end has a growling noise. When pulling a load it is worse. When the front end has more weight the noise and vibration is less. When traveling dead straight now growl really but turn the wheel a fraction of an inch either left or and a growl vibration. Turns left or tight fully bring on the same hard growl. Steering pump is pumping fine. Either steering box or front wheel bearing is my guess. 2007 Explorer 4.6 ...

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 Eddy B Model Randomly Jitters

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer Eddy B model with 74K miles. When I drive it randomly "Jitters". The event is difficult to describe. It happens anytime; hot or cold, at start-up or after being on the road a while, when I accelerate or am at a constant speed, on cruise control or not. The only time it is not prone to happen is going up a steep incline.

The engine cuts out several times in very quick succession, or once for about 1-2 seconds. It sort of feels like a series of backfires, or that the transmission is trying to find a gear it wants to be in (as I said, this happens even on a level road at a constant speed). When the event takes place, the tach intermittently and quickly goes from the hormonal 1500 rpm (or so) to around 2500 rpm, then returns to normal.

This occurs more often lately.

There is no engine light, so putting it on a test machine is not yet an option. I have changes all the filters and uses the gas stuff to eliminate water. I let the tank get down to 50 miles of driving time and then always fill the tank.

Ford - Explorer :: 2007 - Hole In Transmission Cooler Line?

I have a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac v-6. This truck has been the bane of my existence since I bought it back in September, but I finally fixed all of the issues I was having and it's been great. But, today I discovered that during the most recent work, the transmission cooler line ( Ford part # 7L2Z7890A) was left unsecured against the tensioner pulley. Needless to say, today a hole appeared that gushed tranny fluid everywhere.

I have two questions please- First, need to find the hose diameter so I can do a quick fix insert long enough to drive 1 hr. home? Second, I read online that there is a fluid fill point on the passenger side of the transmission case, is this correct and do I need to be aware of anything else to add enough fluid to safely drive the 80 miles home?

I haven't lost enough fluid that my driving is becoming sluggish and hesitant, but I can tell it is very low.
