Ford Excursion :: While Pulling Trans Temp High 220?

When I pull the temp at times gets as high as 220. I do have a Trans. I do not allow the temp to get any higher (Royal Purple Trans Fluid).

I have 2 additional trans B&M coolers and the temp just goes up and up.

What I can do to get the temp down? I also have a ex large tran pan.

Side note: I have the BANKS 6gun kit installed with 4" exhaust. I normally have the 6Gun set at 3 or 4 while pulling.

Ford Excursion :: Odd Sound On Freeway While Pulling A Cargo Trailer

2000 7.3 180,000 miles. It sounded like I was in passing gear from the turbo but not as loud or strong. The tach never moved like it would if it was in passing gear. We kicked it in and out of overdrive, pushed the O/D, no change. Then while driving it would just go quite/back to normal. Oh forgot, this was while pulling a cargo trailer with a total weight of about 4,500 lbs...

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Pulling And Unlocking The Auto Locking Hubs?

I just recently purchased a 2000 Excursion and had some questions up in another thread. After doing some diagnosing....I have a couple of questions about the auto locking hubs. The problem I have is that even with the vacuum line disconnected from the knuckle and no vacuum...the hubs won't unlock in auto/2wd. I confirmed that the knuckle and the hubs will hold vacuum when I hooked my vacuum pump up to it and it held vacuum (the fitting should be clear as I heard the hub making some sounds). I'm getting ready to pull the hubs to clean and re-grease them. My question is that being they are still locked....will it be any harder to pull them off the spindle and after disassembling them/cleaning them.....when I re-install them....will they be unlocked by default after putting them back on the spline as they have been pulled apart and reassembled?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Engine Starting Pulling Down And Shaking Heavily?

So i drive a 2001 F150 4.6L and over the last couple of years it has started pulling down and shaking heavily. I have taken it to mechanics and it always gave a code as a miss. well we replaced the coils and the plugs and of course it still has the problem. finally we did a compression test and it shows that #3 and #5 have no compression and the mechanic said it was either a blown head gasket, a valve or a cracked head. it has 230K miles on it so i was wondering what your thoughts on it were and also if it would be cheaper just to swap the motor.

Ford Excursion :: Brake Controller Would Not Work

When I went to pick up my new travel trailer yesterday , the brake controller wouldn't work. Trying to diagnose this in the pouring rain is the pits. This was after closing time at the dealer so the shop guys were gone already. The sales manager drove to an auto parts store to get a fuse to try it. Worked!

I've got an assortment of blade fuses on hand, but I clearly need these too, and possibly others. I need a name for this type of fuse.

Ford Excursion :: Cruise Control Does Not Work

Just got my first X(and Ford) a couple days ago. Anyways, the cruise control doesn't work. I checked the CC switch on the master and it tested fine and I installed new switches on the steering wheel.

When I do the self diagnostic test with the steering wheel switches they all test fine, and on the last button(set) it lights up, but no other flashes. What does that mean? In 1 thread it stats that 0 flashes is the speed control servo.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Engine Just Died While Pulling A Boat At Highway Speed

I have a '97 4.6L 4x4. I've had a few issues recently and am at wits end.

Symptoms: while pulling a boat at highway speed, the engine engine just died. After waiting about 20 minutes for a buddy to show up with a tow rope, it started up and ran fine...until I got home (10 miles). I parked and after approx 5 minutes of idling it died again. No CEL, and found no codes when scanned. 15 minutes pass, it fires up and works fine.

The next day, I hook the boat up again, dive to the lake, go fishing, drive home. Everything was fine. I unhook the boat and drive to work. Half way there my voltage gauge starts falling and 5 miles later all of my gauges end electric stuff dies. I drive two more miles to work and strange beep starts coming from under the dash on the passenger side (I think). After my 12 hour shift it starts and I start my 10 mile commute. Half way through I lose electrical power again but make it home. Now it doesn't have the juice to turn over.

Are these problems related, and what are the possible causes and cures? On an unrelated note, what's the easiest way to replace a rear leaf spring shackle?

So I looked at an 03 Excursion tonight, has some of the usual suspects, but the rear hatch lock doesn't work at all, with the key or with the power locks. This anything other than a "replace its guts" type operation? I've done the foil thing with my F350, actually i cut pennies and replaced the piece with that, but this seems mechanical.

Weather is getting colder and I need defrost every morning. Rear defrost doesn't work, and I found this when I opened up the rear body panels

I cleaned both sides on the loose contact with sandpaper, cleaned with alcohol, and then superglued back together. Will the superglue allow enough electrical contact for it to work? Is there a better adhesive or way to fix? I want it to fully cure/dry before I fire up. Hopefully in the morning my fix works.

So I'm getting ready to pull my engine to redo my timing cover.. my engine has over 320000 miles on it and it runs strong, dyno'd 402 hp at the wheels recently.. I was considering dropping a reman in since im pulling the engine anyway... I heard you can test for blow by buy sitting your oil cap over the spout and seeing if the cap blows off.. well the engine tilts downward in the back so the cap just slides off but in the dark when i shine a flashlight you can see the fumes just billowing out... how do i know if this is too much... what else can i do EASILY to see if my engine has issues before i start taring it down?

Truck blows smoke like a blown NASCAR engine occasionally when pulling heavy load....pull over, cool off and resume driving. Its as if it never happened. Ford Excursion :: Power Locks Only Work On Driver Door

So, this 2000 X-Limited that recently bought has an issue.

Power door locks. The drivers door is the only door that works, using either the remote fob or the rocket switch on the door. None of the other doors, or the rear lift glass work.

I have a hard time believing that ALL of the individual actuators in each door don't work.

Does the actuator in the drivers door act as a primary? Are all of the other actuators slaved through the drivers door? Is there a relay between the drivers door and the other doors that could be bad?

Ford Excursion :: 2002 - Power Door Locks Don't Work

After lurking here on FTE for the past several months, I finally had the opportunity yesterday to pick up a new to me 2002 Excursion Limited w/ 7.3 diesel engine. The kids (5yo twins) absolutely love it and even the wife is growing very attached

I think I bought it for a very fair price and it's in just about pristine condition with 110k on it. The previous owner took very good care of it and had just about a full maintenance history for the vehicle. The ball joints and tie rods were replaced at 90k and it still has the original tranny-it does shift very deliberately and solidly though. My first true mod will be to add the 6.0 cooler and a tranny filter to hopefully put off what seems to be the inevitable with the 4R100 transmissions. I'm not thrilled with the wheels/tires and plan on swapping them out asap along with the headlights/taillights.

If there is one particular issue so far, it's that the power door locks don't work. When the buttons are pushed (inside and out), there's absolutely no reaction - not even clicking to indicate that the actuators are bad/stuck. I've pulled the #19 fuse and it's fine - reinserting it doesn't reset anything. I'm wondering if the vehicle security module may be bd? How can I narrow it down to make sure it is indeed the problem before dropping the coin for it plus reset?

I have an '05 V10 with 74,000 miles. The overdrive button on the gear shift does not work and it keeps me in trailering mode. If I put it in park and jostle the shifter and steering wheel, sometimes it works. Also, the back-up sensors no longer work.
