Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Battery Light Has Been Coming On For Few Minutes Then Going Off At Random Intervals
2004 f350 w 125000 miles.
I had diagnostic done at Autozone and no problems from check or OBD. The battery light has been coming on for a few minutes then going off at random intervals. Today I was towing trailer and quads, around 3500 lbs, to go riding and it was on most of the time running on interstate and highways.
Seems like the serpentine belt doesn't have as much tension as I would expect. Is there an easy way to change the serpentine? That looks to be a real pita.
Ford Excursion :: 2002 - Battery Light Keeps Coming Intermittently?
My battery light keeps coming on and off, batteries were replaced by the dealer and checked out good at advanced auto parts.

Ford Excursion :: 2000 XLT V10 - Battery Light Is Coming On For A Few Seconds And Going Off
2000 Ford Excursion XLT 4x4 V10 ... Part store shows I need a 3G alternator ... Current alternator put on by PO in 2013/14 s a Duralast DL7764 from Autozone. Tag is still on it.
My battery light is coming on for a few seconds and going off for several hours before it comes on again. Connections are good....crappy Autozone alternators.
But for some reason my motor has a 6G alternator. All parts stores say I need a 3G. Did Ford put 6G'S in all excursions, or do I have a 2004+ motor in my 2000 Ex? Or will a 6G fit where a 3G is supposed to be? All connections look factory including electrical hook ups.
Ford Excursion :: Oil Pressure Gauge Not Reading Intermittently / Battery Light Coming On
I have been having an intermittent (2 times in the past 2000 miles) oil pressure gauge not reading. As I own a 6.0L I understand that this is just a pressure switch in reality and if the engine was starved of oil the HPOP system would kill the engine. The first time the oil gauge went out it was raining out. The second time was after going through a carwash and getting the underbody wash. At this time my battery light also came on for a few seconds.
Both problems seemed to go away after an engine restart. Today it is snowing lightly and my battery light came on again. I happened to be monitoring the battery voltage and FICM voltage via OBD II using Torque app. At no time while the battery light was on today did the battery voltage drop below 13.5V. The FICM was also stable at 48.5+/-.5V.
As the battery voltage read by the PCM is not actually dropping and the previous oil pressure gauge and the fact that my left blinker indicator is out I am thinking I may have electrical issues with the gauge cluster. I have never had these issues while driving in dry weather. Where do I start troubleshooting this? Also I am going out of town for the next two weeks and my girlfriend was going to use the vehicle. Is it OK for her to drive?
Ford Excursion :: Intermittent Battery Draw
I bought my X 2 weeks ago on a Saturday. It was dead when I picked it up, due to sitting. No big deal. I live an hour from where I bought it. Drove it sunday and monday no problem. Tuesday, I fired it up, drove to work. It sat about 11 hours, I came out and it was dead. I jumped it. Drove home and put it on a charger overnight. Fired it up wednesday morning and drove to work. Just for good measure I did a charging system check. It passes with flying colors. Park it and come out 11 hours later. Dead. I jumped it and pulled it inside and threw a new battery in it. Should be good to go...
I drove it, and had no problems till sunday night. It sat about 16 hours and was again dead. I put my charger on it overnight again. Drove to work monday morning and grabbed my inductive amp clamp. I use that for larger draws so I know I won't pop the fuse in my meter.
I pop the hood, and lock the doors. Put the meter on it and its showing 9amp draw. Normal till the computers fall asleep and such. It dropped down to 4.8 amps and didnt' drop. I checked it an hour later and it was still at 4.8. So I left it sit and when I'd walk by I'd check it. Once in a while it was reading 0.0. The others 4.8. When I went out to leave for the day it was at 0.0, and the truck started just fine.
It's been a week now with no problems, and the only thing I have done is lube all the latches and hinges. BUT... last night I was working in the garage and once in a while I could hear what sounded like a motor running for a second or 2 in the clamshell trunk lid. I know it doesn't currently lock, but I didn't think it could or would continue to attempt it.
Ford - Focus :: 2004 - Battery Light Came On For 10 Minutes Then Went Off
I have a 2004 Ford Focus. I had the battery replaced in May. Two months ago, the battery light came on for 10 minutes than went off. A week later the dash lights dimmed and then rebrightened. Talking with people they thought the alternator was the issue. I had it replaced three weeks ago. I got it back from the mechanic and it worked for two days.
On day 3 it would click and the dash lights would flash but it would not crank. Mechanic jumped it and brought it to the shop and found nothing. Two days later the same problem. Took to another mechanic and they found the radio was draining power so they unplugged the fuse. Again, it worked for two days, then the same problem. They have had it for a week and have no clue what is wrong.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Intermittent Battery Light
Well today I got an intermittent battery light so I got the batteries tested and they were both good and then the alternator is only pushing 12 volts so I guess I need a new one right? Which know should I get? And how hard is it to get the belt to relieve tension...

Ford Excursion :: ABS Light / Speedometer Intermittent But Only Under Engine Load?
Just bought an '03 Excursion v10 with ~150,000 miles on it (Saturday morning). About 3/4 of my 1.5 hr drive home, when I hit my first small mountain, and I put my foot into it, the ABS light came on, and the speedo started bouncing around. Same thing on the second hill/mountain.
Then, after driving it on a couple small trips this weekend, and towing my 2500 lb boat home (20 min drive), it behaved fine (no big hills, etc). However, I decided to hookup my backup camera. During the 60 or so minutes that I had it sitting with dome lights on, etc measuring everything up (also trying to figure out how to fit my tool box in the back).
When I tried to start it when I was finished, it would just crank and crank and crank. Every now and then, it would try to catch, but never would. Left it sit for another 10 minutes and it started just fine. However, once it started, the ABS light came on for a little while, then went out.
At first, I thought "oh no... fuel pump". But then I started thinking about the speedo and the ABS light going whacko on the hills. I'm wondering if it's a low voltage issue? I had the alternator checked out today, and it tested fine at 13.9v. However, I've heard that those tests aren't always accurate.
Ford Excursion :: Reverse Sensing System / Intermittent RSS Off Light
MY 04 Excursion limited has 154k miles on it. Up until about 2 weeks ago the RSS worked great. Then the light on the dash that turns the RSS off when you are backing up a trailer was intermittently on/off then it stayed on the whole time. The switch doesn't lock in one position. Like the clicker is bad. I got a new switch hoping this would fix the problem and Momma could back her school bus up with no problems. Not so. I checked out all the sensors and when you get in front of them individually you can hear them clicking. but the switch is still stuck in off. I disconnected the battery and reset the system and it still doesn't work. I cant find any schematics in my Haynes/Chilton manual for this system. there is no fuse for it in the owners manual.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1998 - Intermittent Battery Light / Low RPMs
1998 F150 4.6 automatic.
Had problems with battery light. Was intermittent. Battery cables wouldn't stay tight, replaced them, light stayed off. Light back on now, constant. Battery reads 12.5ish off, 14.3ish running under load (lights, AC, etc.).
When truck is started, even cold, it doesn't rev up the RPM's and then die down to idle speed. It just goes straight to around 550rpm and surges slightly up and down between there and 650ish. Can these be related?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2003 F350 - Intermittent Battery Light On / Off
I have a 2003 F 350 Crewcab 6.0 liter SD. I was preparing my truck for the first haul of the Summer. I noticed that my batteries were on their way out after 2 years old. I replaced them and noticed I had an intermittent battery light coming on/off on/off. It seemed like only at lower RPMs. So the day of my trip, I ended up changing out the alternator.
The trip went fine, however, I noticed that pesky battery light came on and then off a few times. I also got a hot plastic type smell from the front of my truck.....you know that hot plastic smell Anyway, I got home just fine. Via Torque Pro, my battery volts were reading 12.2ish when my battery light came on, but then would quickly return to 13.9.
Since I"ve been home, I have read about fixing the grounding points for our trucks and also adding a second ground wire and a second hot wire from battery to battery. I can not find exactly where the ground's lead to. I still have that fricking battery light coming on .....more often that not. How to chase this problem.
First I need to find out where the ground wires go to. My volts of recent have been reading 11.5-12ish when the truck is running and the friggin battery light is on. I did search and found a few links to this problem, but where to find the grounding points.
Ford Excursion :: Intermittent O/D Light Flash And Hard Shifting - Code P0720
Having this issue for a while. Finally have time off work to dig into it some more. 00 ex, v10. Intermittently flashes o/D light and shifts hard. I replaced 2 out of the three speed sensors. One at the output and the other on the axle. Only active code is the p0720 output shaft speed sensor circuit. Last weekend removed and inspected harness, did not electrically measure it tho. My question is: intermittent problem? I drove it today to see if it was still doing it and it drove like a dream! Haven't had the battery disconnected or anything, just sometimes it does it and other times it a smooth ride.
View 14 RepliesFord F-150 (2004-2008) :: ABS Light Coming On Randomly After Several Minutes Of Driving
The past couple of months my ABS light has been coming on randomly. It comes on after several minutes (or hours sometimes) of driving then stays on. I wrote it off as a bad sensor but now, even when under light braking, if I hit even a small bump in the road, I can feel the ABS activating in the pedal. Seems like more than a sensor to me. I know I have a front wheel bearing going out but how would that be related? 2007 F150 5.4 2wd
View 1 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Slow Cranking - Bad FICM Can Cause Intermittent Battery Light?
2006 F250, 6.0, AT, 59K. Week and a half ago, started cranking slow. I charged the batteries and checked with a professional load tester. Both batteries good, but voltage was fluctuating and tester said charging system needs service (no battery light). I swapped in a remand alternator as a new was not available that day. It lasted 6 days and this time the battery light was intermittent.
I checked voltage and again it was fluctuating. I swapped in another remand unit and 3 days later, same thing, intermittent battery light and fluctuating voltage. I'm installing a new, not remand unit tomorrow. However, could a bad FICM cause this problem? I noticed that the engine seems louder (not the exhaust note) at idle. This truck is clean and I have no corrosion issues. What is the right direction to test the FICM?

View 6 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Battery Light Came On - Car Went Off After 10 Minutes Of Drive
A week ago before I left for h20 my battery light came on, i drove for 10 mins and it went off. I also had a battery test and alternator test at that time and everything showed up ok. I drove 800 miles all good. Last night the battery light came on again, I was far from home so just tried making it back but the car dies on me. Before it died the traction and abs light turned on, the lights dimmed, when I gassed it the lights would get a tiny bit brighter. Also my gauges got stuck at the rpm i was driving at and 70 mph, even though i came to a stop already.
When i tried to gas the car it was backfiring, sometimes i couldn't even give it gas. Only way to start the car was to jump it, then i can drive a little before the car died again.
I drove with my battery box off the highway because highway patrol said i have to and got towed how from there last night. The ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY WERE CHANGED a year and a half ago apx 12000 miles, all oem equipment for the alternator. The serpentine belt and tensioner on top have also been changed and serviced.
Ford Excursion :: Battery Light Will Come On For A Second Then Go Off
I just noticed this happening the other day. Sometimes the battery light will come on for a second then go off. It seems to happen when I accelerate. I've watched the battery gauge and it never moves when the light comes on. I have a digital voltmeter that plugs into the cigarette lighter and it reads 14.2 volts constantly, even when the light is on. So what could cause the battery light to go on besides a drop in voltage?
View 9 RepliesFord Excursion :: Battery Light Came On Intermittently
Came on intermittently other day, got it home then did not start. Charged for a bit, it started on the charger then off the charger a few times I assumed out was the alternator just replaced it. Battery light now on continually, hope I didn't destroy two batteries driving out for 20 mom after light first illuminated, they already to be only one year old. In addition to the ABS light now and the brakes feel unboosted? Hopefully fuses popped?
