Ford Excursion :: 2004 - A/C Compressor Won't Working?

I got a 04 V10 6.8L excursion with now all of a sudden the clutch won't engage in the compressor. Is there a shut off switch I don't know about or do I have to replace the whole compressor.

Ford Excursion :: AC Compressor Comes On For Approximately 1 Second And Goes Off

Well I've thrown out the situation of having low freon for discussion earlier and of course consensus is a leak. I added freon by way of one of those guage on the can deals and it seemed to be mostly ok for a while. Today it was around 90 degrees--doggy and I were on a road trip. What started off as a comfortable trip became progressively warmer. I noted the rear air was blowing warm air--not "not as cold air" like what you'd expect from the vents being in the ceiling. Got back home and hooked up my new manifold gauges I had ordered which of course, were in metric.

Long story short, I added some freon but while the low side pressure seems to be in the proper range, the high side pressure is very low, as in not much higher than the low side. The compressor comes on for approximately 1 second and goes off. Both sides have a pressure drop when it comes on-maybe the low side dips a hair below ideal but I am perplexed-or actually lacking knowledge. I know this is going to be a professional's issue for me, but what could be going on. I read a little on the expansion valve but I guess I am wondering if there is anyway to narrow down the problem--guess it comes from always trying to learn stuff.

Ford Excursion :: A/C Compressor Running While Using Heat - Normal?

So I was doing my coolant flush yesterday and turned on the heat, both front and rear, to move any old coolant out of piping and cores. I notice that the rear was not blowing as "warm" as the front.

I did notice that the compressor was clicking on and off the whole time. A/c pipes coming off of accumulator were freezing up/getting cold/frosty.

Is it normal for the compressor to do this when the heat is on?

Ford Excursion :: No Insulation On Tube Coming Of The AC Compressor

I noticed the tube coming of the AC compressor (I think that's what it is called) have no insulation on them and are open in the engine compartment. I can't stand how poor the AC is already, so I'm looking at insulating them. What I could put on them that would be effective yet safe in the high heat of being under the hood?

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: 2004 - No Power To Compressor?

I have a 2004 Jetta wagon 2.0. About 2 years ago my compressor was replaced with a used one and the a/c was working perfectly fine. Last year the air from the a/c began to get warmer until it completely stopped blowing any cold air. A couple of weeks ago we checked the freon lines and they had plenty of pressure in them. We also checked the fuses in the car and on top of the battery along with the fan control module. The compressor spins from the serpentine belt but the clutch does not engage and there is no power in the wires going to the compressor. There is power at the high pressure switch but the condenser fan does not come on unless the switch is jumped. Could the culprit be the ambient temperature sensor?

Ford Excursion :: AC Line That Runs From The Back Of Compressor Is Leaking

I think the top AC line that runs from the back of the compressor is leaking on my '01. It looks straightforward to replace, but I don't have any way to evacuate or recover the R134a refrigerant. Is this something that an AC place has to fix, or is there a way to do this on my own?

Ford Excursion :: 2004 - Transmission Whine / Power Steering Goes Out?

2004 6.8 4x4 ltd

So the truck is fully loaded and were 5 hours into the trip to Florida. At the start of the trip, there was some transmission whine that Id never heard before, but that went away about 1/2 hour in. My wife takes over so I can nap and an hour into her shift the power steering goes out, the check engine light goes on and power is way down, with the engine bucking slightly. With my assisting with steering, we manage to get it into a motel parking lot right off the highway.

This same thing happened on this same trip eight years ago in my 2001 X. That Ford dealership tried to rip me off by charging double. I had to call other Ford dealers in the area to get comparative quotes and throw them in the service managers face to get his prices back in line.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion - Leaking Oil Pan Gaskets

My 2004 Excursion 6.0 4x4 is leaking oil around the gaskets. Does this usually just call for replacing the gaskets and is there anything that needs to be checked or upgraded while the engine is out? It looks like the engine needs to be taken totally out although I have heard it just has to be lifted a little.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion Gargling On Initial Startup

When I start my truck up initially and it's somewhat cold, like even if it hasn't run for just a few hours, it seems to gargle when I get on it. I'm not slamming it while it's cold but even just trying to accelerate. Code is egr flow insufficient, the truck isn't egr deleted, I've had it for 150,000 it's got 211 now. I just clean out the egr every 15-20k and it's been great until now. Once it warms up it sounds and runs perfect.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion - Cold Rough Running

When I first start my excursion in the morning, it starts fine, idles fine. If I don't let it sit for about 5mins plus i have this issue. I will start off and it has no power at all. I can barely get up to 20mph. It doesn't seem to want to change gears, I don't hear the turbo spool up. Then all of a sudden it will go to next gear, turbo spools up and it has power again. It is like I said a 6.0 power stroke, its a 2004 excursion with 214k miles.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion - Clicking When Attempting To Start - Solenoid?

04 excursion 6.0 auto. New batteries a month ago. New alternator (New Bosch) 6 months ago. Charging system shows 12-13 volts on scan gauge with engine off, 14 with engine running. Drops to 10 or 11 while actually engaging starter.

Every once in a while, often when the engine is hot (in fact I can't ever remember this happening when it's cold) the solenoid clicks like it would when the battery is dead. So far, it does this while it's actually engaging the starter, so I hear the solenoid clicking under the hood while I hear the whir of the starter under the floor board.

Never had this happen before. Not sure what part is trying to tell me it's on its way out? Heat soaked starters are harder to start, or less powerful, or something, right?

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion - No Response When Step On Accelerator Pedal

i have a 04 ford excursion 6.0 with the egr delete, was stopped at a light to make a left turn, when i stepped on the accelerator pedal nothing happened as the engine was just idling. i pumped the pedal around 10 times and finally got the engine to rev up. i just got this excursion and don't know to much about the maintenance on it. i am going to drain the water and change the two fuel filters. my neighbor is familiar with diesel engines and he said to look at the throttle sensor. i have run this engine up to 900 miles and it has started and run perfectly. i believe the usual maintenance like oil changes etc were done on it. would any error codes show up even though no warning lights on the dash.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 Excursion Running Rough / Smoke Coming Out And Stalling

I have a 2004 Excursion with a 6.0 Bought the truck already studded, EGR deleted, and a 54V FICM. When I bought the truck it had a hot stall, no restart problem. Found the high pressure oil leaks and resealed them by replacing the #3 injector and replacing the top injector seal in the #4 .Oil pressure reads very good now and I drove the truck for a couple weeks problem free.

Truck started smoking (white to gray) and felt like it had a miss. No misfire or contribution codes. Truck failed the bubble test and I narrowed the leak down to the passenger side by removing the banjo bolt

Banjo bolt at the front of the passenger head

Found the #3 injector loose...the copper washer

Copper washer had disintegrated/melted and appeared to be stuck to the side of the injector. Scraped off easily enough, cleaned up the injector and injector cup and reinstalled the injector with new O-rings and copper washer.

Put the truck back together and still smoked the same and still felt like it had a miss. Ran KOER test and found sometimes a contribution code for #2 and sometimes #6 .

Drove the truck to work and it didn't feel down on power...mostly just smoked and rough idle...but on the way home there was a lack of power and just as I pulled into my driveway the truck stalled...wouldn't restart. FICM voltage was good, high pressure oil read over 900, IPR was holding around 40%.

Pulled the secondary fuel cap

Secondary fuel cap to run another bubble test...there was no fuel in it...completely empty. Started to think that I had a fuel feed problem. Hooked up a fuel pressure gauge

Fuel pressure gauge and drove the truck again...pressure wasn't great (45 lbs) but never dropped below 42...not even when it stalled. Pulled the cap again...dry again...yet the truck read fuel pressure.

Research showed that I was possibly pressurizing the fuel system with combustion pressure and that was possibly displacing the fuel from the fuel system. This would explain the run for a few minutes, then stall and no restart for a few minutes...I'm assuming that the pressure would bleed off and the fuel pump would start over.

Still failing the bubble test and still pointing to the passenger side. I pulled and recleaned the injector and cup...new orings

oRings and copper washer. Bubble test again...fail.

Pulled glow plug from #3 , failed bubble test still.
Pulled glow plug from #1 , failed.
Pulled #5 , failed...pulled #7 ...failed.

With no glow plugs in the passenger head I am still bubbling up to the fuel filter housing. Pulled the banjo bolt from the front of the drivers side head...no more bubbles.

Ford A/C :: 2005 F350 - No Power At Compressor

I have a 2005 F350 with 6.8L V10 with 135k on it. I bought the truck 2 months ago and have started fixing things slowly on it. It has started to get warm here in NY so it is time to get the AC working. I started out with fresh parts. New AC compressor loaded with clutch, New receiver/dryer, new orifice tube. removed old compressor which was completely missing the clutch on the compressor, pulley spun but the shaft is locked up. i installed all the new components and went to test the system to make sure the compressor clutch would work. There is NO R134a in the system, again wanted to make sure clutch would work before spending the money on putting the refrigerant in to the system.

I jumped the 2 pressure switches to fool the system into thinking that there was refrigerant, and no lock up, no power at the connector. i tried removing the jumper from the lower sensor, pluging it back in, leaving the upper jumped, and same result. i then swapped the jumpers again. no jumper on top, jumper on bottom. no dice. i check both sensor connectors and they both have power going to the sensors. I have checked the fuse in the fuse box in the cabin and everything is fine there, i have the proper 12v in and out of the fuse. i have checked the what i believe to be the WOT relay in the engine bay on driver side fire wall and wiring seems correct there.

I have tried to find information on the diode that is in the circuit but have pretty much found that either the fuses will blow or it should work. i could not find too much information on it honestly. Everything i found was relating to F150s or explorers. I am going to a friends shop tomorrow to vacuum and fill the system..
