Accent MC (2006-11) :: Cylinder 3 Misfire After Fuel Injector Cleaning
Make: Hyundai
Model: Accent
Year: 2007
Mileage: 70K
I've added Mystery Oil into my gas tank to clean fuel injectors as a maintenance precaution. I added it to a full tank of gas, when the gas tank was on low and I needed to get more gas, the check engine light came on.
The car was diagnosed with CEL reader from Autozone, misfire in cyl 3 is what the guy said. 3 full gas tanks later, it still has the same code and the car idles rough, hesitates and only seems to behave normal under medium to full throttle at higher RPMs.
I've been reading online for similar issues, as well as asking my friend who works as a mechanic at a dealership. Everyone seems to be accepting this behavior as normal and suggesting to wait out a couple of more gas tanks for the fuel injector cleaner to burn through.
I've looked at the spark plugs. 1,2, and 4 cylinder spark plugs have normal wear and tear. #3 has black build up, which corresponds with online pictures of rich mixture misfire.
I'm looking for a repair manual on another thread on this forum so I can take the injector from cylinder #3 out and look at it.
Ford Aerostar :: 1997 - Misfire On Cylinder 1 / Bubbles Coming Out Of Radiator
Replaced pass side cyl head 7 years ago and now I've a misfire on cyl 1. Did wires and plugs as a matter of routine. Giveaway was rust deposit on rad cap. I always keep a strong coolant mixture and the rad is fairly new. Did a cyl pressure differential test and had bubbles coming out of rad. Funny thing is that had a rough few seconds on start, then smooth from then on. Getting my self fired up to tackle it. Have full gasket set and head bolts. Got a new head today. Am at 470k miles now.
View 6 RepliesJeep - Liberty :: 2003 - Misfire On Cylinder 2 Code / Injector Is Bad
I have a 2003 Jeep liberty sport with 175k on it. it has a misfire cylinder 2 code. I replaced the plugs and coil packs on all 6 cylinders, noid light test on wires, compression check in all cylinders, everything works so far. I still have a check engine light for the misfire. I don't know if maybe the injector is bad for that cylinder, looks like it was recently replaced as with the other 6, or i have a leak of oil or air or coolant into that side either from the head gasket or intake gasket. the valve cover gaskets have been replaced recently as well.
View 6 RepliesFord Aerostar :: 1996 - Occasional Stumble On Startup / Engine Seems To Misfire A Bit And Car Shakes
I've got a 96 Aero with 128k miles. It's AWD with the 4.0L. It's developed an annoying "stumble" on startup. The engine seems to misfire a bit and the car shakes. It goes away when I give it some gas and/or start driving. This started out being very occasional but eventually started happening at least once a day. It doesn't seem to happen with the engine very cold or very warm. It mostly happens when the engine is "lukewarm" (having sat for about an hour). So far, it hasn't died on me. I ran some fuel injector cleaner through and it went away for about a week, but then returned (but not as bad). No stored codes. Within the last 10k miles I have had done:
Compression test (passed) about 10k ago
New plugs, wires
New fuel pump
New water pump
New fuel filter
Tranny rebuild
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Misfire - Smoke - Fuel Injector Supply Line?
Went to go and start my truck this morning and noticed after it was running that it sounded like a misfire, then i seen the smoke... I shut the truck down and lifted the hood and seen that somehow i had a high pressure fuel injector supply line on the Lh side break off. The line that goes from the fuel rail to the injector port on the valve cover (theres 4 of them on a side). There doesn't seem to be an o-ring or anything on them, they are just pressed over and tighten down.
View 6 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: 1996 - 3rd Cylinder Misfire Intermittently
I figured something out on my ranger that has been bugging me for a while it was a third cly misfire so I changed the plugs and it went away for a while.the po told me he had just changed the plug wires so i didn't mess with those and it was an intermittent misfire so i changed the brain box because it was 15.00 at pull and save and it had been all updated boy did it run smooth for a while then the misfire came back. So I decided to check the 3rd cylinder plug wires and found out the one that is hard to change on the drivers side was badly rusted so i borrowed one off my windstar it was a little longer but boy does it run smoother and it doesn't die all the time and chug chug all the time now i just need to change the battery. i have already changed the clutch and the tranny twice i took one out of an 88 and it fit just fine by the way the engine is a 2.3 8 plug engine with over 230,000miles on it my next project is a timing belt and a heater core won't that be fun and yes i smell the antifreeze inside and don't like the stop leak like the last person put in.

Having an intermittent strange sound coming from the fuel pump from its normal whine at start up to a gurgling sound almost like you are blowing back through the fuel line back into the tank. Going on a 300 mile trip, should I hold off?
Btw: it's a 1996 Aerostar 3.0L
Ford Ranger / B-Series :: 1996 4.0L - Misfire On Cylinder 3 / Check Engine Code P0303
Got a 1996 Ford Ranger with the 4.0L in it that has a misfire on the #3 cylinder and giving check engine code: P303. Have tried new plugs, wires, distributor, switching out the coil pack with a known good, checked injectors for pulse, checked injectors, moved injectors and still the misfire remains on #3. Removed the valve covers and all appears to be well.
View 14 RepliesBuick - Regal :: Rough Idle / Misfire On Cold Start - Leaking Fuel Injector(s)
1991 Buick Regal, 3800 V6
Having a rough idle on a cold start. After some research and closer inspection of the vehicle, I'm quite certain I have at least one leaking injector that is flooding a cylinder and causing the car to misfire on a cold start. I'm also not at the gas mileage I should be at.
So I'm wondering, is fuel injector replacement as straightforward of a job as it looks? Any major issues I could run into in doing a replacement?
I'm planning on replacing all six injectors (I can get them for $50 each buying online with a discount code), but given that the vehicle is so old am I better off just replacing the faulty ones? I'm assuming pulling the spark plugs and seeing which cylinder is wet will tell me which I need to replace.
And one more question: Is there a way to depressurize the fuel system when I park the car for the night, thus preventing fuel (or most of it) from leaking into the engine until I get this fixed? I've read that just unscrewing the gas cap can depressurize the system.
Montana :: Cylinder 3 Misfire Code After Intake Gasket Change
I am currently getting cylinder 3 misfire code, after intake gaskets are installed. Here's what happened:
installed intake gaskets and reassembled
detected cylinder 1 misfire only
cleaned cylinder 1 spark plug & wire connectors and cleared the code
detected cylinder 5 misfire only
cleaned cylinder 5 spark plug & wire connectors and cleared the code
detected cylinder 3 misfire
checked all of the spark plug wires resistance
found cylinder 2 wire was bad. (over 20k ohms/meter)
replaced all six spark plugs and wires.
Please refer to the OBD reading attached...

1996 Blazer - Flashing Cel Light P300 Multiple Cylinder Misfire?
So my 96 blazers cel started flashing and the truck started running extremely rough. I changed the catalytic converter and the o2 sensor that is in the pipe. Made no difference. So I knew my intake manifold gasket has a leak so I changed the gaskets and put knew bolts in. I wasn't thinking and took my distributor out and forgot to mark the timing. So played like heck getting it in timing again. Took a bit cause I didn't realize there was two timing marks. So got it started again was running really rough so thought 180 off turned it nothing. So put it back started it up still running very rough and flashing cel so put a new crank sensor and cam sensor in and a ignition coil in. No dif still. Could it be the egr or ECM?
View 12 RepliesCaravan/Voyager :: 1996 Van Started Chugging - Random Misfire / Bad Cylinder
Last week, my van started chugging and the keydance code indicated random misfire. I changed the front spark plugs and wires and it ran a little better but still showed the error. Took it to my trusted mechanic and he changed the back 3 wires and plugs and the coil pack. Code now showed misfire on one of the back cylinders(I forgot which one). 2 Mechanics both confirmed good spark and gas at the cylinder. He is saying that there is a mechanical problem in the cylinder and the fix would be over $1k.
The van has over 250k on it so it's not worth the engine work. I asked about a compression test and was told that it's almost impossible to test the rear cylinders without doing a ton of work, and that they are 95% sure that it is a mechanical problem with the cylinder. I've known the mechanic for over 20 years and he is an honest guy, and knows that I won't do the expensive repair, so he's not trying to rip me off.
I don't have the facilities or knowledge to do the work, so it looks like I'm screwed. Is there anything else that I should be doing before I write the van off? It does run, but very rough at low speed, and no power at high speed, and mech says that the unburned gas will eventually screw things up.
Chevrolet - S-10 :: 1996 - Running A Bit Rough / Irregular Idle / Cylinder 1 Misfire
My 1996 S10 2.2 liter pickup has been having some 'issues'. Truck has been kind to me over the years, but now is running a bit rough. It has an irreguler idle and continues to run this way through all speeds. The blinking code reads "cylinder 1 misfire". I did all the basics. I changed the plugs and wires, ignition coils and fuel filter. Here is where is gets tricky, after changing the fuel filter, it ran great again. Then it started to run rough again later that day. I thought I somehow clogged up the new filter, so I removed the new one for inspection. Realizing there was nothing wrong with it, I reinstalled. Truck ran great again. Went out to drive it to work a couple hours later and it started fine, then after about 10 seconds of running, it went back to the rough idle.

View 2 RepliesBuick - Regal :: 1996 - CEL Code P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Plus P0102 Mass Airflow Sensor
Ok, my 1996 Buick Regal is acting up. I got a CEL, which was a P0306 (Cylinder #6 misfire), took the car to my shop, and they diagnosed as a faulty Ignition Control Module. Fast Forward, a day later, the car now has a hard start problem and throwing the same code, plus a P0102 Mass Airflow Sensor.
So my questions are:
1) Could a faulty ICM cause a single cylinder misfire, did they just replaced a random part? I would think a bad ICM would a multiple misfire considering on this car each coil controls 2 cylinders.
2) Are the two codes related? ie fix one, and the other would go away? or are they separate issues?
3) What could be wrong with my car?
This mechanic has been in my family for years, however, I'm not very pleased that a day later, my car seems to have more problems than before. Am I being too harsh?

While I have systematically tried to fix this problem over the last 6 months, I have not been able to get fuel to flow from the fuel rail into the injectors on this 4.6 L Northstar engine. I have 40 PSI of fuel at the fuel rail, and the engine will crank but not start. If I put starting fluid into a one of the cylinders, that cylinder immediately fires and then stalls. I have checked the wires going to the injectors and they seem fine, as well as replacing the ECM and fuel pump. The fuses for the injectors are good, so they should be getting electricity. 1994 Cadillac Concours...

View 2 RepliesPrius (2004-09) :: Oil / Fuel In Intake Manifold - Misfire For All Cylinder And Reduce Engine Power Codes
I'm getting oil and fuel into the intake manifold every couple hundred miles. Oil level is in the middle of low and full mark. It's not like it's a huge amount of oil and fuel in the intake but it's enough to make the car misfire, bog out. Only codes I'm getting are misfire codes for all cylinder and reduce engine power code (forgot what code it actually is) but that's when the car completely shuts down and won't start with red triangle light. If I clean the intake out and unplug the battery for a few min I'm able to start the car again, but it will run really rough and white smoke will start to come out the exhaust (gas smell). I'm wondering if a bad maf would cause this. I've already cleaned it but still doing same thing. Don't really know what the specs or reading the bad is suppose to be so I'm kinda stuck to determined if I need a maf or not. Cars got about 242K miles.
