Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Oil Cooler Blowing Seals / Bypass Oil Filter Came Loose
I just replaced my factory oil cooler again, and my bypass oil filter came loose spraying 8 quarts of oil all over under the hood.
This is the second time it has done this. Both times my wife was driving so i don't know how it was running prior to this.
Now i think my oil cooler seal to the block is blown again! Just like the last time my bypass oil filter came loose.
Could this be a symptom of another problem?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Cleaning Exhaust Filter Lit Up On Dash When Driving At 55 MPH
New truck does it's first regen at 100 miles!
I Experienced my first REGEN last night. We were on the highway for about 20 minutes at 55 MPH when the dash lit up "Cleaning Exhaust Filter".. The odometer was at 100 miles and it lasted until 115 miles. The fuel economy dropped from 14.6 to 13.9 pretty fast.
There was no notification when it was done with the Regen other than the instant fuel economy gauge climbing pretty quickly.. So 100 miles on it and it was already sooted up??? Is that uncommon?
Ford 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: No Start After Fuel Filter Change - Code P2291
Which is, Injector Control Pressure Too Low. First filter change on this truck. Purged the truck six times. No start. Purged it six more times. The truck started momentary. I've been purging for the last two hours. Now I have the code. What next?
View 14 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Active Regen Feel While Driving / Cleaning Exhaust Filter Message On Screen
Last week I picked up a 2016 F-350 with the 6.7 diesel. Since then I have put about 4500 miles on it and gone through 2 or 3 regenerations. About half the miles were empty, half were with about 1500lbs of cargo in the bed. Mostly interstate driving at about 70mph.
However, every time the "cleaning exhaust filter" message comes on in the screen it feels like the truck looses all power for a second. The first time I was going up hill with cruise control set at 70 and it felt like stomping the brakes then hitting the gas all within a second maybe.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Code P0299 Appears On Cold First Start Of Day
Can a leaking Y Pipe throw a P0299? Dealership says that is my problem. My MAP at idle is 14.4 EBP is 17 - 18. At 60mph MAP is 20 EBP is 26-28. Boost is 10-20 .. Truck drives great no apparent issue. P0299 only code and appears when cold first start of day. If I clear it it goes away for the rest of the day and only comes back occasionally. Twice in 5 days only at cold start. 2005 F350, 100% stock, Ford filters all. Scan guage 2 for readings....
View 10 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: CEL Code P2284 Normal Under Certain Cold Conditions?
OK, long story short. I had P2284 code on my scan gauge after replacing the oil cooler. I contributed it to air in the oil system. Sure enough, a few days of hard driving and the code went away.
Now a week later, I fired up my truck on a cold start yesterday morning. It's not that cold here(low 40's in the morning), but the oil started off at about 50F. Correspondingly, ICP at is higher, at around 1000(it's like this every morning until oil warms up). I usually let it warm up a tad before driving but yesterday I didn't, and hit the gas pedal a little hard once and the truck started acting like it does when you get this code.
Sure enough, check scan gauge and the code is there. I drive home(about 15 minutes). A half hour later I start the truck up, check codes, and it's back to normal. Of course, oil temps were higher and ICP in the normal range between 580-590.
So is this normal? Since it doesn't trigger a CEL I assume it's more of a system parameters code? Only other thing I can think of, if this isn't normal, is a mucked up IPR screen from when I installed my BPD oil cooler.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: IPR At 84% At Cold Idle - Throwing #5 Injector Code?
2003, not deleted, everything was stock except for he put a Bully Dog on it with can tunes. Died on him was replaced ICP started up ran horrible was throwing different injector codes, IPR was at 84% at idle, plus had a lot of pressure on degas bottle.
Just finished studding, deleting, oil cooler, ICP, and injectors. She started up fairly easy, only to have the IPR still at 84%, ICP bouncing between 670s to 790s this just after start up from the work. Truck still runs horrible and still throwing #5 injector code also using AE and injector 5 wont Buzz. So, would be safe to say Injector harness and IPR sensor?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Harder Cranking And Would Not Start Cold - Code P0405
This morning when attempting a cold start of my 05 6.0, it would not start was noticeably harder cranking. I had no CEL. I checked my scan Guage and the volts were 13.4 and fcm main power was 48.4. I checked and I had a p0405 code. What could be going on? I read that it can be a stuck or bad EGR valve? Could it be battery related?
View 9 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: P0299 Code While Highway Driving?
I just got back from a trip across the state to see the Miami boat show! Truck was running just fine on the trip over, EOT/ECT delta around 9* (seems a little high to me, Im hoping because im running 35's, but can someone back me up on this?)
On the trip back, cruising at 70, I noticed the check engine light went on... I didn't have it under heavy throttle or obscure circumstances... My ScanGauge 2 showed that I had a P0299, which as Ive read means something relating to underboost?
I cleared the code. And the CEL never showed again in the last 100 miles... Could this just be a quirk? Or should I be more worried about it?
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: White Smoke At Startup And Driving While Cold And Warming Up
I'm in the middle of an extended coolant flush and switch over to ELC. As of recently, I have noticed white smoke at startup and driving while cold and warming up. (Even at times accelerating when half warmed up ~170*). At first I attributed it to suction, so last night I changed the oil with T6 along with a new OEM filter.
After I got done with the oil, I pulled my EGR valve when the engine was hot. Is this simply goey due to warmth, or do you suspect EGR cooler leaking? I didn't take pictures of the manifold, but the lower chamber was hard and dry, while the middle section seemed to be "goey". EGR Cooler or something else???
Ford 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Green Wire Located Above The Fuel Filter Assembly Knocked Loose?
I'm in the process of replacing my HPOP lines and fittings and after I got everything removed and started cleaning the threads before re-assembly I noticed this green wire (located above the fuel filter assembly) that apparently I pulled out of its socket.
What is it for? Can I just push it back in its sleeve right below the red wire??
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Rough Idle And Loping Upon Cold Start - P0488 Code
My '05 Excursion recently started having rough idle and some loping when started cold. It seems to run good and idles pretty good when it warms up. I'm also getting a P0488 code (EGR Throttle Control Circuit A Range/Performance). I do have a BPD EGR and I don't recall if that would throw a code alone? I'm taking a trip next week and want to get it straightened out. Does it sound like an EGR valve issue?
I also thought about a battery issue, I know that can cause weird problems. I have Duralast batteries and they always seem to fail at about 2-3 years. I took it in and they say it tested good but I'm not always sure with them. Long story, but when cranking for longer than normal, the cranking power would drop quite a bit. Checked battery and had some corrosion. Cleaned and upon further inspection, the positive post is a bit eroded at the base and sunken in. The voltage was about 12.35 after sitting all night, a couple of the cells were reading lower than the others (about 50%, other 75%) when checked specific gravity. I tested voltage after batteries had been in the truck overnight, then unhooked from truck when testing.
I also thought about a glow plug/harness issue. The truck cranks for awhile before starting, 5-6 seconds sometimes, but not all the time. It starts up pretty quickly when warm. That's been going on for some time. Anyway, I will try to get a video of the rough start after cools down.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Truck Shut Down While Driving / Code P2614
So a few day ago my truck shut down while driving. I posted up and checked the ficm harness as suggested. Things were a bit lose so I zip tied my harness around the ficm. Thought it was all fixed and test drove it and it shut down again. I tried to start it a few times and my ICP was a tad low about 450 ,I have a brand new ICP and harness. Checked my scan gauge and I have code p2614. I cleared the codes and the truck started right up. I need to get this sorted out I was supposed bro go home tomorrow from working out of town all week about 100 miles from home...
View 3 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: 2004 E350 - Bypass Coolant Filter Or IPR Full Flow Coolant Filter
I am going to install a coolant filter on my 2004 6.0 E350 van. I have read threads about bypass filters and full flow filters and I started asking myself "Why use a bypass when I can filter all of the coolant?"
Is there any reason why someone should use a bypass filter? I bought the van used knowing I would eventually have to do most if not all of the 6.0 repairs. IPR sells a complete coolant filter.
I talked with the people at FICM repair and they suggested I do my research but leaned towards the IPR cooler. Ed spent a good 30 minutes on the phone answering all my questions and never asked if I wanted to buy anything. If anything, he was trying to stop me from throwing money at the van until I isolated what needs to be repaired.
I already bought the Sinister Kit and requested a return.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: P2290 Code - Chugging At Operating Temp And Sometimes Even Die While Driving
I have a 2007 F250 6.0 L with 116000 miles. I have never done any modifications or changed anything on the truck. Now that the weather is starting to warm up I've noticed that once the truck is at operating temperature it starts to chug and sometimes even die while driving and while its doing this the truck has no power. It does not seem to do it when its cold. Here is a picture of my gauges KOEO operating temp at idle...

View 7 RepliesFord 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel :: Changing The Oil Filter?
OK what is the trick to changing the oil filter on the 6.7 without making a mess. My last truck, which was another brand, if I would let the truck sit for a couple of hours, I could get the filter loose, put a zip lock bag around the filter, & remove the filter without any drips. With the 6.7, even if I let the truck sit overnite, it seems like the oil doesn't drain from above the filter, & as soon as it comes loose my hand gets a bath. Any tricks to changing the oil filter.
View 14 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Bypass Oil Filter?
I had pretty much ruled out getting a bypass oil filter because I've read multiple times that the HEUI injectors of a 6.0 liter shears the oil regardless of filtration so that you shouldn't run extended oil change intervals even with the extra filtration. I'm wondering though if the cleaner oil would benefit the lifters and injectors within the regular oil change intervals, and if what I read before is correct about the shearing and not running extended oil change intervals. If I could run to say 7500 miles and it was better for the lifters and injectors than not running a bypass and changing oil at 5000 miles, then I might say it would justify it. I hear more and more about lifters in the 6.0 and want to everything I can to keep them operable.
